Garfield Story 

I love that he chose you. It is a sign of your warmth and kindness. He knows that you're a loving person and that you love animals.

In the summer of 1980, my folks moved, along with their two cats, to Virginia Beach. Soon after moving in to their new place, this gorgeous long haired white female cat showed up at their door. The cat was very friendly. Mom asked the neighbors next door and found out she belonged to the 10 year old girl across the street. So Mom brought the cat back to the girl's mother, who thanked her. Everything seemed fine, until the cat showed up three days later. Mom returned her again. This happened several more times, until maybe the ten year old girl , or perhaps her parents, had obviously grown tired of their cat. Finally, the mother suggested to Mom "Why don't you just keep her?". So my folks did, and Mom named her 'Blanca'. Mom called her "my only daughter", as all her other children, and cats, were males. Blanca survived my Dad and the two male cats, and lived a long, happy life, keeping Mom company for 20 years.

Am I the only one who thinks we need, crave, more Honeysada videos? I honestly believe they are good for our souls and mental health to see such beauty, especially in these troubling times. Just a hint, Honey. We miss you and that beautiful love you give to nature and all the critters. Your videos brighten our lives more than you know.

What a handsome gent Garfield is! I'm partial to ginger kitties. As they say, you don't pick cats, they pick you. Every one of ours has pretty much just shown up at our place, out of nowhere, and stayed. We live way out in the country, like you do, so we have no idea where they come from, but we're delighted to have them.

Ginger and ginger & white cats are usually the friendliest cats you can meet. I used to work with cats and have known many but all cats are divine. Then there are those like Nanny who seem like a person in a feline body.

You are so blessed to be chosen by a cat.

I love this story and it is much like our own cat story! He came into our home numerous times but belonged to a neighbor across the way from us. After a couple of years of back and forth his owner made the biggest gesture of letting us keep him - he is now happily ours and where he chose to be!

Dang it. I love your channel. That made me cry tho. Thats how I ended up with Tom the American Bobtail cat. His owner was a dog breeder, kept him in a dark garage, hoping to make money off kittens from Tom. The owners son was in head on collision so he let Tom out of garage since he had to stay at hospital. Tom had no one. A thunder storm came up and I heard a high pitch sad meowing crying in my garage. I opened door and he came in house soaking wet and loving on me plus my daughter. He took over the house as if to say, "OK Ladies....name is Tom... I'm hungry, tired, wet and I don't eat ketchup...here's some love...now get me food". Eventually, Tom was given to me as a gift because he wouldn't stay with owners. He always came home to me or even scratched on door for me to let him in. Hahaha : )

this is a really independant and bold cat. finding his own paradise and walk a very long distance. what a nice journey.

I take breaks in the middle of the day just to enjoy your ambience, calming spirit, and adorable, smart cats. Flowers and pets are God's Clues.

Cats know a kind soul when they find one. I’ve always thought that if cats are attracted to you then you must be a good person. It really goes for all animals, they just have a way of knowing these things.

Cats are so boss; so independent. They do not like their lives dictated by some lesser creature, i.e. humans or dogs. If you let them be themselves, they will love you forever. You obviously gave him the environment he wanted, both physically and emotionally. He's a real sweetheart and you are lucky he chose you.

Garfield obviously had good taste:) One of my cats Spook used to go visit all our neighbours but always came back to sleep at "home"...I think he would just check to see what was on the menu and collect a few friendly pats & share some lovin.

What a darling boy! We had a similar looking kitty that climbed in through our bedroom window one memorable Saturday morning and took up residence with us.... the rest is history! Warm greetings from South Africa 🐾🇿🇦

Scotch's family are probably good people. They took great care of him, did all they could. But cats have their own way of looking at the world, their own set of needs. Some cats would think that the family was heaven. But Scotch need a farm, other animals, a sense of purpose. He has all that as Garfield. Garfield is a Orangecicle cat; orange popcicle on the outside, vanilla ice cream on the inside.

As the saying goes "cats choose their owners!" We got our cat in almost the exact same way! He had a family but kept leaving them and coming to us. Time and again we'd return him and he'd come back. Finally his original owners gave him to us "officially" together with a photo album containing pictures from his kitten days. The inscription written inside of the picture album read "In honor of Tequila's preferred guardians" and brought tears to our eyes. A truly selfless gesture by our beloved kitty's original owners. It couldn't have been easy to give him up. We can onlg hope that any difficulty giving him to us was tempered by the sure knowledge that my husband and I truly cherish this cat and make excellent caregivers to him!

I've always found that if you let the animal choose you and not the other way around, it makes for the best of all possible relationships. A cat chose me at a friend's garden party ... the cat was amazing. There were about 100 people packed into that garden plus a dj with very loud music, big buffet with only the best on offer and this cat decided she was the guest of honor and therefore allowed to parade around at will. She deigned to partake of some smoked salmon from my plate, approved highly of some small shrimps and decided I would do. And that was that. She was a stray. Our friends discovered her one morning in the garden showing interest in the garbage can and she moved right in, however, these friends were great travelers and were soon off on another long voyage which meant nobody would feed the cat so I stepped in, most eagerly, and brought Sweetie home. At my friends' home she was relegated to the garden and a back terrace but not allowed into the bedrooms, in my home, once out of her carrier, she headed instinctively to the back and the bedrooms, jumping onto our bed and looking at me defiantly. I petted her to reassure her it was perfectly normal and we never regretted it. Neither I and my family nor she.

Exactly how we got our boy! We live in a huge apartment complex by the beach with many buildings. After about 3-4 years of him escaping from and being returned to the building he lived in 2 buildings away, his original owners decided to honor his choice in guardians. We are honored to have him...

Sometimes they choose you. And there’s just nothing to be done but love them and let them in. Many animals over the years have chosen me, followed me home, jumped in my car, or showed up on my door step. I see it as a gift, not a burden, and any animal that chooses to be part of my life is part of my life as long as they want to be. Good of that other family to realize he made his own choice and the dangers he risked to get back each time was not worth trying to make him stay somewhere when he wanted to be somewhere else. He loves you. He chose you. End of story❤️BTW living life surrounded by all those wonderful animal family members is MY idea of paradise, so I can’t blame Mr. Garfield Scotch🤣

Oh how gorgeous he is a big ginger boy strong and handsome he goes through all that danger and kilometres to get back to Nannys house n he lives outside but he can come in any time .Garfield you are so brave. Have your happy life at Nannys house 💜

All of your cats are beautiful but I think Garfield may be my favourite. He reminds me of my old cat Kipper. Kipper was the 'runt' of a litter of 5 born to a pedigree white chinchilla cat owned by a neighbour of my uncle. He was brought to us in the inside pocket of my uncle's jacket and we were warned that he might be killed if a home could not be found for him. It was love at first sight - well for my part. He grew up into a beautiful cat, surviving a fall from a 2-storey window (on to concrete), being 'cat-napped' by a neighbouring family who liked 'the wee tiger cat', and suffering severe bruising from some unknown dirtbag who thought it was ok to give him a kicking. He had a very dense coat like Garfield but a different colour, being greyish-brown with lots of bold black tabby markings. He had a huge ringed tail, almost like a fox and a lots of long hair in his coat from his chinchilla mother. We think he may have been a Scottish Wildcat cross, due to his unusual markings and size, being a bit larger than an average domestic cat. Sadly, Scottish wildcats are now on the brink of extinction. He was a superb hunter, catching and delivering all sorts of wildlife (or sometimes only the parts he couldn't eat...) on to our doorstep, he was ridiculously territorial when it came to our (large) front and back gardens, and once faced down the neighbour's labrador and spaniel who had rashly decided to wander up the front path without bringing their human along. He was also the most affectionate cat I have ever known and had that wonderful ability to sense when things were perhaps not quite right and a bit of a snuggle was just what was needed. I grew up with him. He arrived when I was 9 and died when I was 23. I came home from uni specifically to spend some time with him during his last days. This all took place a long time ago. Oscar Wilde reputedly said that the memory of a good cat never leaves you. How true. Thanks for sharing the wonderful videos of your gorgeous animals and take care. Best wishes from Scotland.

I think there's a reason why he kept coming back. Something about that other place has something he does not like, and it shows after he kept coming back over and over.

I've watched this video several times over the past three years. It's amazing how a cat can seem like a part of your life and be on your mind so often.

Perhaps, the menu wasn't to Garfield's liking at his original home - or, maybe he had to deal with small children pestering him? Who knows... At Your place, he's got a whole crew of interesting and loving characters to hang out with - and he definitely picked You because, he sensed that You've got a heart of pure gold... With all the different kinds of big predators around - he's obviously one very determined kitty that knows what he wants... and, at Your place, he absolutely found a true slice of (kitty...) Heaven...🐈 💙💛🌹💜🍎🇺🇸

Cats will do that sometimes (choose their homes, I mean). My dad had a tom that went out one day and came back with a Barbie bracelet in place of his flea collar. Few weeks later cat decided to stay with the little girls down the street, and lived with them for the next five years or so my Dad was in the neighborhood. :P
