This was my go to car trip game as a kid. I remember playing it on trips to Toronto and Florida. Also, it was another game I got from my Grandma on Christmas Eve. Thanks for covering it ❤
Demon's Quest is the game i want to see the most, it's one of my favorites game of all time, it was (and still is) amazing game with lots of secrets, multiple ending and a unique open world a la Metroidvania. Really one of top SNES games that need to be covered.
Demon's Crest has my vote too. Although, to get the best ending on the game, you have to play the @#$&^@*#^$ skull-headbutting games. They are NOT easy or fun.
All october ive been on a gargoyles quest binge, playing through the entire series for the first time. Its been a ride, and its cool to see you playing it as well!
My dad took me to the April 1990 Nintendo Powerfest in Detroit (part of the touring Nintendo World Championships). They had TONS of upcoming games that you could play way before they were released, including some SNES consoles (Which didn't exist in the US back then). But I was too shy of a kid to fight my way over to try the really popular games. Instead, I spent the entire 3 hours playing Gargoyles Quest at a little gameboy kiosk in the far corner of the convention center. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. I can still remember it, crystal clear.
a nice little gem of a game. Pretty cool how it started on GB then went to NES then SNES. Usually games start on the "Better/best" platform then spin off onto lesser ones.
So did Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu. After the Famicom version was cancelled due to being to extensive, it was supposed get released in five different disks for the Famicom Disk System, it was then reworked into the Game Boy game
Small correction at 2:55 Shimomura was still at Capcom when she composed on "Breath of Fire", Square only took care of publishing the game in North America. Funny how many comparisons can be made with Kirby: flying protagonist, wrong coloring of the protagonist on the Western package, started on the Game Boy, direct sequel on NES. Joining other comments to say I would love to see a UCBVG video on Demon’s Crest!
One of the best games of the Game Boy's first batch. The Dark Fire in fact has a special property too, it can destroy enemy projectiles but at the point you get it the only enemy who uses it is Breager.
1:16:28 Fun fact: _Rushifell_ is one of many Latin letter transcriptions of Japanese ルーシフェル which is the only Katakana transcription of the name "Lucifer". It seems that the translator took some transliteration liberties to avoid Nintendo's early "no religion" policy.
I came here to say that but thought to check first. It's either clever censorship avoidance or Engrish at its finest. And given the time period of the game's release either one is possible.
Would love UCBVG vids for the following... NES: Astyanax AD&D Heroes of the Lance Empire Strikes Back Jaws Tombs and Treasures Duck Tales 2 Chip and Dale 2 Full Quiet Wrath of the Black Manta
"Something that you need to be aware of is that whenever you jump off of a wall, you always jump up a little bit, so if there are spikes directly above Firebrand you're going to take damage." That is a good thing to point out, and it's actually one of the few flaws in this game that has always annoyed me. Fortunately it was fixed in Gargoyle's Quest II.
Love the run downs you do + all the hidden items/places and other tactics you add...Also your puppers are way to damn cute and I love how you incorporate them on the title screen and in your intro, it's way to wholesome and I love it!
I picked up Gargoyles Quest 2 for the NES for getting good grades in like 2nd or 3rd grade. Quickly became on of my favorite games. I still have it with my original NES, and play it every once in a while
My dog would have tried to eat that. She got one of my DS games one time. Sims 3. Whatever. I was never going to play it anyway. Great video, as usual!
I still find it funny that capcom made a series of games where you play as the most obnoxious monster in ghosts and goblins. Anyhow, Demons Crest is still my favorite of the series.
this really needed a proper vocalized flash warning. i looked over at the screen right as the eyes were defeated and it made me feel rather ill, i imagine for someone with epilepsy this would have been much more severe
This was one of my favorites on the old Game Boy, and I was just playing it a week ago actually. I remember seeing it in Nintendo Power before it came out and it was the main reason I wanted a Game Boy, though there were other games I liked for it. I ended up getting the system before the game was available, so I had to wait to play this. I was excited when I finally saw it in a store. At first, the game seemed really tough to the point where I wondered if I might end up regretting getting it, but I got used to it and ended up liking it a lot, obviously.
This was one of the hardest games I ever played when I was younger with the original GB....You made it look super easy, though I am older this guide made me want to play it again as I still have the original and guess what? Even I can beat video games! Great job and great guide!
I loved finding the FFFF-FFFF password by trying random combinations :) It was the first time I have seen the "overworld" as I never managed to pass the first level before... Also convient you don't need to complete the "living tower" as well :)
I remember going on a family vacation and I begged my mom for a new Gameboy game to enjoy. I randomly picked this from the Toys R Us and was pleasantly surprised at the gameplay.
A fun choice for this time of year. I've never gotten that deep into this game, so I was surprised to see how short it actually was! Good to know 'heal up and facetank the boss' is a legit strat, 'cause some of them seem to have pretty annoying patterns. Hopefully we'll see both sequels on this channel eventually. I love the aesthetics in both, but Demon's Crest was the first of the three I was ever able to really get deep into and it's always been a Halloween season favorite!
Compared to my shyte channel this is a breath of fresh air...you have that voice and timing that could sell ice to a Eskimo...I almost tear up when i see the NES advantage...i need one again just for the memories. Anyhoot ive been a long time subscriber so im just saying Halo😅....and love the videos so keep em coming.🖒😀
I enjoyed this episode. If it was any other youtuber I'd likely not watch it because it just looks too old. But it was actually a fun video to watch with your narrator. Thanks for sharing an old game I would have likely never have heard of if it weren't for you. There will be worlds that need saving from total annihilation and that's why we'll be back next week with another game you can beat.
This was hugely helpful. I've always wanted to play this game and found your video while playing through it for the first time on my Switch. What a fantastic game, too. I was blown away by how satisfying it was. I wish the NES sequel was on Switch, but Demon's Crest is, so that's next on the list. Thanks again!
This was one of my (and my older brother's) absolute favorites on Game Boy back when it released. I played through this game numerous times and it never got old. I really liked all the music in the game but my 3 favorite tracks were the Overworld Theme, the Desert of Destitution Stage, and the Final Stage of King Breager's Castle. If a legacy collection of these ever hits Steam, I'll be sure to pick it up.
Great game. I played through this fairly recently for the first time since I was a kid, and it still holds up. It reminds me of Bionic Commando, another Capcom game with unique mechanics. I never played the second and third games-I need to rectify that. And I agree with you: this is a series I’d love to see be brought back. A though: if Rushifell = Satan, is the Ghoul Realm basically hell? Is this some sort of infernal war? Is this how the world will end in the Last Days? Capcom may have cracked the code. Amazing.
Haha, your pup clicked on the Gameboy this time I noticed - I love it! I notice even the little things in your videos and I always look forward to every week with a new game I grew up playing, and loving and is my go-to videos when I am in between shoots at work while filming. (or least before the strike we are still dealing with in SAG-AFTRA, but hopefully will be working soon as I will be doing a leading role doing voice over for a game by Blizzard I am excited for as it will be my first game I'm working in! I grew up with these games and now get to do voice over work in a game finally - as if I've come full circle!)
This vid inspired me to grab a copy off ebay for a trip I have next week. I'm telling ya man, it's not if you get to 1 million subs but when!! If you ever decide to do a Ogre Battle (snes) or Destiny Of An Emperor (nes) I'd be here for it!!!
This is one of the few games where there really isn't a clear "good vs evil" motif. Darkoan and Breager are both monsters or demons or whatever with no indication of whether living under either one's rule would be any different. We're basically just picking a side in the Ghoul Realm's civil war. If Arthur was there he'd kill ALL these people 😆
Not trying to be too much of a Debbie downer. But you must get a lot of use off your gameplay stuff. Man, I hated the game boy. And I was born in 80. It was in my wheelhouse, but I just thought it looked awful. I wasn't quite desperate enough play a piece of crap on vacation I guess. Anyways. I'm on the side that would like more Nintendo and super Nintendo games.
Thank you U can beat. For another great video. I got to re-up my Nintendo switch subscription. I'm definitely going to play this though. I was playing demons crest for a while. Take care brother
Can't wait for you to do Gargoyle's Quest II, I've been wanting to replay it again after like 30 years but I'm too lazy, would rather watch you play it while I drink some beer hah.
I don't think you need to memorize the traps on the monochrome screen. They still stick out because of the slightly different texture pattern, which looks a bit off.
I hope you do demon crest. I have beaten it but have no clue what I’m doing. I only play 4 levels and am horribly underpowered at the final. I love these games though!
This game is a treasure and I’m happy you got around to reviewing this series of delightful games. I look forward to seeing Gargoyle’s Quest II for the NES as well as Demon’s Crest for the SNES one day.
Oh wow I don't remember that there were respawn locations at all; I thought a Game Over was a hard Game Over. Then again, as a kid, I couldn't play for long and I couldn't leave the Game Boy running so respawns weren't much help
Kylo there's 1212 leesome lane altamont NY which is called camp Wildwood with trees as scenery for the ultimate guide for the magical quest starring Mickey mouse snes
There is an easy way to bypass the Final Bridge. If you make Firebrand jump into a pit as low as he possibly can without losing a life, and you can see just the top-most pixels of his head, if you start flying you will go under all of the obstacles and reach the end without having to interact with anything.
Lord I remember looking at this in the Toy Department and not being impressed. Can't remember what it was I got instead tbh, but man I was a silly kid. This seems like it would have been bonza at the the time, and most likely more memorable than whatever it was I got instead. XD.
