Pride before the fall! I was so pleased with myself beating Garlic Rust I underestimated White Rot taking me down a few pegs! Oh well there is always next year!
😢 we can only do so much Mike stick with what works and we can’t do much more. I won’t list what didn’t work in my garden this year, I’d get writers cramp 😂. We are in Feb again here cold wet and hmm 🤔 ye cold. Chin up have a great week regardless, Ali 🌧️🌧️🇨🇦
The garlic nearest the camera in both tubs was the best. Strange, sheltered from the driving rain or more in the sunlight? My garlic crop was rubbish too, mainly rust.
That is a good observation and looking back in all 3 tubs the best ? less affected was in that rain shadow. Looks like my compost mix did not help at all perhaps holding too much moisture.
You don't seem to have much luck with the Onion Family, surprised you were able to be amused at the mess, I think I'd be rather upset, but better your attitude . Thanks for showing us the down moments with good grace, a lot of channels wouldn't have the courage. Oh and sorry to hear about your mum.
Yes, I have bought Garlic powder (its rather cheap) and put in watering cans, and give the bed (the area to host the 2025 Garlic and Onions) a good soak. The Fungus detects the "Garlic" grows to search out the plant and of course its not there so expends all its energy and starves.
I'm so sorry!!! It's frustrating when one has been waiting for a long time to harvest and end up getting nothing... Is there anything to do about white rot or is it in the soil for ever?
Very frustrating yes, and worse because I know how to beat it. In the bed that will have Garlic or Onions, in the July before add a strong mixture of Garlic Powder to water and use it liberally on the bed. This trigger the Fungus in the bed where it finds no host and starves out severly weakening it.
