I have Garmin Dash Cam 57 and Mini 2 cameras. They’re really nice. I like the extra resolution of the 57 for capturing road trips, like the epic snow we got this last season. The 2K resolution does provide enough detail for license plates. The Mini 2 is nice too, for my other cars where they are hidden behind my rear view mirrors and they disappear. The lower 1080p is still nice, but license plates can only really be read when a vehicle is closer to the center of the camera, and in closer proximity. One accessory I really like is the Garmin polarized lens. It cuts down any reflections from the windshield, and adds a bit of clarity to the image.
Very nice and concise review, thank you. I may have missed it, but I'm sure the audio alerts (traffic moved off, red light camera and forward collision alert) can all be switched off, right?
Great review, Sir! Please I'm looking for a dash cam that starts recording anytime at my request in my stationary truck (without necessarily starting the engine. Which dash cam brand would you recommend?
If you want continues recording, and your truck can provide battery power to the 12v outlet, the Garmin Dash Cams can be programed to record 24/7 even if you don't start the engine.
close and in well lit area good, darker situations and if cars are bit further away, may be better with a higher resolution camera like the Garmin Dashcam 57
DO NOT PLUG THE DASH CAM POWER CORD INTO YOUR COMPUTER USB PORT TO DURING THE SETUP PROCESS. While the power cord is connected to it, the computer will not allow you to format the memory chip and it will not allow you to pair the Dash Cam with your phone. I cannot guarantee this problem is related to the Garmin Dash Cam 47, but it is a major problem with the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2. It wouldn’t be a problem at all if the package included a note that warned the customer.
the only problem that I hate in garmin's dash cams - the camera asks for initial setup every time when unable to see satellites. just freaking me out.... but the camera is great.
@MrPontiac005 Matters to me and if he wants to get better at his productions it should matter to him as well....No one wants to listen to someone who constantly uses fillers while talking.
