This video illustrates the capabilities of connecting multiple Garmin Echomap 93SV through the provided ethernet ports using the 20' Garmin marine ethernet cable. In this video we connect a 93SV plus sonar unit to a 93SV UHD. Also illustrates configuring custom combo screens and transducer configurations.

I just purchased a Garmin 106 and a 93 sv . Just finished watching your video from 3 years ago on Garmin echomap network. First of all did you make a newer network Ing video . If not my first question is , do I put in my active captain micro sd that’s already separately set up for each unit which I already did and upgraded each unit . Or do I put in a 32 g sd new . I’m just trying to set up both units to mirror each other . I’m 78 but I followed and took notes from this video . My setup will be the 106 will be at the console and the 93sv will be on bow . Network cable connecting both . The 106 is going to be connected to the 54 transducer on stern . The 93 bow unit will not have a transducer connected . I just want the 93 to have the same info as the 106 with the transducer when I’m up front . So I need an answer about the sd card and can I use all the prompts that you used on your video. I probably watched most of the videos you put out , very informative and done in layman’s terms . You already emailed me the settings so I have them all in . I’m in Pa so I won’t be on the water for a couple of more months. I’ll have plenty of time for my install which I’m doing myself . Thanks for you time , I really appreciate it ,, Jerry R
@DoubleTFishing

Hey Jerry, Pull the SD card out of your bow mounted 93SV and leave the card in your 106. You only want 1 Active Captain SD card in the network, it will cover both sharing the waypoints, tracks, routes etc. When you perform an update have both units turned on and it will update both automatically, if you perform an update using Garmin express go ahead and use a clean SD card with nothing on it and follow the instructions when prompted. Once the update is loaded on the chartplotters go to the active captain icon on your chartplotter and "review" the settings so it can load the information. Since you will only be connecting 1 transducer to the network you won't get the "Preffered Sources" options in the menu. It should automatically use the GT54 for both units and share all the sonar and user data. It did update that video with this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-240hdB8T7zw.html

@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 3 года назад
Not sure, it couldn’t hurt putting an extra magnet on the power cable. I feel it is interference from the trolling motor through the transducer in my case. The console unit doesn’t get interference when I run the trolling motor with my remote. On some Minn Kota trolling motors there is a fuse on the small ground wire in the head that may have blown causing excess interference. Worth checking. I noticed the interference worse at certain speed settings.

You will the Garmin “black box” to put together a network of 3 Garmin devices. The Ultra series can network more than 2 devices but the regular UHD cannot. You can call Garmin and verify the exact parts needed at 800 800 1020. Sounds like a good setup once you get it networked together.

Not that I could figure out, with the striker you use the blue and brown wires in the power cord to network but with the echomap you use the Ethernet port. I tried and even called Garmin. I just caught another echomap on sale and networked them. The information isn’t clear from Garmin but I did find where others tried and failed same as me. The echomap also has the blue and brown wires. Thanks for the comment, have a great weekend!!!

Very helpful video! Thank you. I have a question. When I click on preferred sources Sideview doesn't come up only traditional and Clearview show. I have Sideview & use it a lot. My network consists of a uhd 93 sv ( which is the one at the console & also the one I use for Sideview) and an ultra 126 sv which is at the front & dedicated to livescope on a pole. Any idea on why Sideview doesn't come up on the preferred sources screen?
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing Год назад
I wonder if it’s a conflict with the livescope. I don’t use livescope. Might try unplugging the livescope transducer just to see if the side vu option appears. Are you networked with the NMEA 2000 or an Ethernet connection? Garmin support is really good 800 800 1020. Use the call back option, normally less than an hour.

I think (you will likely get a message about not being able to unlock the map) if you network the units together via Ethernet and have the active captain SD card in the 93 unit both units will show contours on inland lakes. I would give Garmin Support a call they are very helpful. Use the callback feature, they always call back within 30-45 minutes 800 800-1020.

I saw these units at BPS and like em. Currently running old Gen 1 HDS 7's I have had for years and want to upgrade. So linking these 2 units together you only need the ethernet cable? Mine has the LSS1 box for side scan in my rod locker for side scan. Am I seeing this right that I can do without the box and just use the E cable? I am not a smaahhht man LOL when it comes to tech stuff.
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 3 года назад
Yes you can link two 93sv echomap units together with just an Ethernet cable. If you are mixing models like striker, GSmap or a force trolling motor it may take more hardware, I could not get a striker to communicate with the 93sv echomap. One thing I wasn’t clear about is when you link them together using the same transducer many of the settings like frequency effect both units. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. It is great for all your user data especially waypoints, mark a point in the console then jump up to the bow and it’s there. Thanks for the comment, have great day!! I networked a Ultra 10sv and a UHD2 9sv - 'Preferred' Sources doesn't appear in the Communications tab menu. I have no idea why and have searched the internet for answers and drawn a blank. I have a GT-56UHD into the Ultra unit, no transducer currently connected to the UHD2, although I will add my LVS34 soon. Any ideas folks? It is driving me mad that I don't have the option to select the source on either of my units. Maybe a bug in the UHD2. I dunno...

I didn’t cover that scenario in the video but if you only have one transducer in the network there is no preference you only have a single choice so both chartplotters read the same transducer for everything. What do I need to network the front unit that has panoptix, to the console unit??
@DoubleTFishing
@DoubleTFishing 3 года назад
I don’t want to give you bad information but WITHOUT panoptix all you need is an Ethernet cord and assign both units to the same SD card on the echomap series. I bought a Garmin cord that had sealed ends but you try a regular Ethernet cord to see if it works. I don’t have panoptix just the two sonars with standard transducers. Don’t hesitate to call Garmin at 800 800 1020 and ask. Sometimes you have to wait on hold but once you get ahold of a tech they are very helpful. “MG marine tech” channel has been dropping some panoptix videos that may cover the networking.
