This is the best video for someone new to bike computers, clarifying perfectly what / how to customize your data screens. Excellent work! Thank you very much!
Under the set up section in the Garmin manual, they should just have a big link to your video! I've had my 830 for a week and you made the setup so much easier. Thank you. Liked and subscribed!
There are loads of reviews for the GE 830 out there but this video fills the great void of how to setup properly. Now I have a better idea of how to customise and which uncommon but good have fields to display. This video is a lesson that'll everyone who owns the device. Thanks a lot and subscribed.
Excellent video. Without this information and minimal manufacturer documentation, it was becoming a bit frustrating to use the 830. Now, I am set. Thanks!
Great information. You make it seem relatively easy to manipulate the various screens on the Garmin Edge 830. I have saved this video so that I can use it as a refresher.
Just purchased the 830, thank you for making the screen set up easier than the manual ever could. I cannot get it to link contacts from my iPhone XR for emergency notifications and live track, any suggestions?
When you're not following a course or a route the data fields for navigation (like distance to finish) stay empty. Isn't it possible to show them up only wehn navigating?
Very useful video, thank you. For some reason my map always shows the elevation profile, regardless whether the "show elevation profile" is on or off. I can't seem to get rid of it from the Maps page, any idea why?
Why the vertical units are being displayed in m(eters) on Y-axis in elevation screen, as well as elevation itself (5:33)? I would have thought this to be displayed in ft, rather than meters. Or?
got a 830 with two activity profiles each with multiple data screens , in one activity profile the data screens cycle though the list showing each for a second in the other profile it shows the data screen only on command . how do i stop the 1 second cycling of the first activity profile data screens ?
Garmin could have implemented one extra button to cycle between the pages/screens during winter/cold days. The screen swipe works terrible with gloves. Or making the LAP button programmable just to do that.
Thats a good point Tomas - i remember certain gloves being somewhat non-responsive. Its not a problem if you have Di2 as you can program the additional hood buttons to scroll the screen.
@@VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE I have purchased the Garmin Edge remote. It's a bit fiddly to use on a road bike handlebar. It could have been a bit thinner as it sticks out too much - or longer thumbs? xD
I know this is an old video and I have gotten familiar with how to use my 830 but the part of your tutorial that described the map display and data fields taking up to much view of the map is where I'm having a problem. My 830 map screen shows a gradient field at the bottom and I can't get rid of that. I've tried everything shy of doing a full system reset and it just won't go away.
I don't have an 830 at the moment to check but if i recall the screen lock is accessed by pushing the power button - not sure if its a long or short press.
Hi, I’ve just bought a garmin edge 830. But can’t seem to get the voice prompts to work via my iPhone. Could you help ? I’ve got it turned on in the garmin connect settings but it doesn’t seem to work. I’m quite disappointed there is no built in voice prompts on the edge 830 itself for the price paid.
Hi Tion - I haven't tried voice prompts and to be honest I think its an unnecessary function. The 830 beeps to issue turn alerts and thats sufficient for me to check out the on screen navigational prompts. Im not convinced you'd hear voice prompts clearly either with any significant traffic or wind noise wheras I rarely miss the beep.
VELOGPS - THE INNER TUBE thanks for the quick reply. I do understand your point about not being about to hear the instructions. Just thought it would be nice to at least have the option. I’m assuming I could have Bluetooth headphones connected to my phone and hear the prompts that way? However it just doesn’t seem to work.
@@tionlangan2531 I have an Iphone 6S - and the voice prompts work every time - I actually use it as a backup GPS on my Moto Triumph 1050 Cycle - but it works fine on - never had an issue with this feature. It works via Iphone 6s speaker or via my BT headset - I have had no issues with this feature to date
