I use my 3-year old 245 music all the time with music and max tracking and now find I need to charge it every day to get a 1.5 hour run in. I think there must be something wrong but nevertheless might be in the market for a new watch. I think it might be worth me playing it safe with a 955 for battery though.
Yeah that was why I ultimately bought the 245 on Sale in 2023 rather than getting the 255. I would like some extra features but I think the 245 looks way better
You say it’s small- but it seems to be the perfect size for your wrist. Personally I don’t get the 46mm+ watches ; very rarely does it suit the wearer and most of these are bought to wear all day.
I had a discussion with two triathletes about the face size this morning. The bigger the face, the easier it is for them to see the watch during training and/or a race.
@@brittanymacdonald8218 yeah, I get that ; I suppose I only glance at them whilst running - I don’t bother with splits etc. I suppose it depends on eyesight too?. However I still think the majority will wear these watches all day fir the other stats offered and so my comment about them looking daft still stands. I am thinking about a couple of people I know!.
It looks *very* nice, but not enough motivation to replace my perfectly good 245 Music. Hopefully by the time it goes out of service, I'll be running enough events to want to jump to the 900 LTE series, so I can broadcast my route without bringing my phone.
I've never owned a fitness watch so would be grateful for your insight: I'm leaning towards the 255s due to smaller form factor; it appeals to me that I will just forget I have it on, (particularly useful during sleep) and I would use all its features on the connect app of my phone. Is this realistic, or does one have to interact with the watch face itself? I'm not a runner, more into gym/bodybuilding, and want to use the watch for stress tracking, and overall fitness tracking over time. Thank you!
Great video. Ive always been Garmin whole time. coros has my interest with battery life. I don’t care about music on watch, I don’t pay too close attention to all the Garmin features. Be interested in seeing a video on your thoughts and comparison on Coros pace 2 vs Garmin 255. Sounds like Coros pace 3 might be this fall, have you heard anything? From Seen past RU-vid reviews coros is behind on Garmin on app features/layout few other things, while a lot people may not are about that and just want a multi sport watch, with great battery life and simplicity. Coros ahead of Garmin on battery life and slightly lighter. Sounds like coros is working hard to catch up on all little features but keeping with better battery life….. Im trying to decide between coros pace 2 (or wait for coros pace 3 this fall) or get Garmin 255 for my 15 year old and also 13 year old (they are on swim and running team and both are gonna start doing Triathlon this summer. I’m not going to rush into purchasing watches for them. Anyway, Always great videos.
I just got the 255s. Have been training and racing (long distance triathlon) for the last year with coros pace 2. Look, the coros does everything you need but barely. Its VERY basic and if you come from garmin, you are going to feel it. Very little customizing of data screens and/or ways to perform structured workouts from training peaks. They just added structured workouts for indoor running as it was not possible before. Still, it has very annoying things in the way they did it (fixed velocity according to the target pace in the workout and not actually reading pace). They also havent been able for some reason to include drills while swimming so no kicking or one arm drills can be recorded. This should be easy as garmin does it but still, been asking for it for a year and nowhere to be seen. That is one positive thing about coros, they will release a firmware update almost every month making the watch more complete so I basically have a new watch now compared to the one i bought. No extra charge. But that also shows you how incomplete it actually was when released ;) . I just went back to garmin. The only thing that had me in love was the weight of the watch! but now with the 255s garmin also matched that so, no brainer.
What problems do you have with your 245? I do not trust my 645 for races, as it is prone to dropping Bluetooth connections for a few minutes every hour, and occasionally locks up completely - something I generally notice only when I need to start recording!
@@anthonygilbert8042 depends what day it is! At the moment it repeatedly reinstalls the same software update, shutting the watch down mid-run to do so! Another problem is huge variation in pace whilst I'm running steadily along the flat away from buildings etc., it will swing from 4 to 6 mins per km. Its the 3rd garmin I've had, the other 2 had to be replaced under warranty.
@@MiataBRG Sounds very different to my issues. I use a pod for distance and speed, though, so doubt rely on GPS or the watch sensors - except when it loses the connection, of course. I have factory reset it maybe half a dozen times in two years, which seems to improve matters for a while. I might be interested in an upgrade if I was sure the new model had better basic hardware and firmware, but not just for features.
I can confirm, that the 255s is a very good watch. But the purple-ish band arround the black Version wont be acceptable for a lot of men. First off all if you wear the watch 24/7.
The black version has a ring (band was the wrong word)arround the watch Body. You can see it at the Garmin webpage. I send my 255s back because of that.
@@hagenbartels6677 Ah yes I see what you mean. I was really thinking about getting this version, but the purple/magenta colored ring that is around the watch will keep me from getting it. Really wish they would have had a 255s color that is somewhat appealing to men lol.
@@danwright897 as a dude I got the black 255s. didn''t notice the colored band for a few days actually. the colored bands are so dumb. since i have no other choice for a small watch, I now refer to the color as MANgenta.
Would not be reliable. Only blood testing can determin lactate concentration. However, there's a strong correlation between heart rate and lactate so if you have done a lactate treshold test you should have an approximate HR for lactate threshold training.
I have the older 245 Music, software updates are done wirelessly as long as your watch is connected to your phone and your phone is connected to the internet2
Garmin's prices are going up - as other brands - as they don't really see and care of what is going on this blue planet. There really is no shame for some people.
