That unfortunate moment when I shot a similarly titled video two weeks ago, slated to go live in the next few days. 😂 But hey, at least my watch is orange! Err...lava.

Let’s be real Ray. You forage through all of my videos searching for ideas to steal. I’m the only one allowed to revisit a product after a set about of time. ™️ 🤣 I sent Des a message the other day when he posted a video about affordable heart rate monitors a week before my similar video 🤦‍♂️. There’s going to be a lot of overlap. No big deal. So, just as long as you don’t get more views then me we’re cool 😎

@Matt LeGrand Let's be clear, I'm absolutely gonna be 'inspired' by your b-roll ideas. In fact, I told Bobbie (my wife) on Monday to spend the morning going through all your video intros for ideas. Serious, you can ask her - it was an official boss/employee task.😂 Granted, as Des can also attest to, I'm always last second everything, so...b-roll almost never happens.

Nice vid! I've had my 745 for just over a month now and feel it's been really solid. I tried a Fenix and it was just too much mass and it had accuracy issues. Tried an Apex Pro, really nice watch by found the screen just too hard for me to read. This seems to hit a good spot for me regarding size and function. Battery life isn't stellar, but it is more than good enough for most people if you're realistic about your needs, and it charges quickly. I actually like the workout suggestions. While I don't use the workouts, I do use them to gage where I am with training / recovery and if I'm missing something. GPS, pace, etc., all seems to work well, and I find the music easy to use. I don't use it all the time, but is nice when I want it. There's always something new coming out, such as the Enduro, 955, etc. This seems to offer accuracy and the latest Garmin tech in a nice-sized, easy-to-wear package. Hopefully it will continue to work solidly for some time. Cheers.

I've had a 935 for 2 years and I've shower and soaped it daily to clean and never any problems with water. The 935 is a solid watch too. Like yours on my new polar V2 it gives me suggested work outs which I don't use they aren't annoying but on one of the faces if you want to do them but could be fun when between training blocks. Wearing my 935 and V2 together I think I have the perfect watch.

Yeah Vincent, no problem. I’ve used this watch with a variety of Wahoo devices. I think all three of the ones mentioned here. The Tickr would connect just like any other heart rate monitor. The 745 wouldn’t connect or communicate with the Bolt (Wahoo does make a watch that can do a bit of a hand off with the Bolt during a triathlon race). The 745 is also able to control smart trainers like the Wahoo Kickr. Let me know if you have any more specific questions and I’ll try to help. Thanks so much for the kind words Pablo! Sounds like a great problem to have. I guess I'm guilty of having a lot of watch options as well. I think it would depend on the type of stuff you do. If you enjoy trying lots of different watches, don't feel guilty about it. Some people collect sports cars. 😬 I think I would either keep the Fenix Solar or the 745 and I'd probably lean towards keeping the Fenix. The solar technology is really pretty cool. Looking forward, Garmin will probably update the 945 to the 955 pretty soon and then eventually update the Fenix to the 7th edition maybe this summer or next fall. I'm not 100% sure. The Garmin training plans can be set up and downloaded to the watch but I haven't seen any way to import a training plan from something like training peaks or other platforms. You can also build your own custom workouts and sync them over to the watch.

Great video. I have a quick question though: how’s instant pace on it? I have a Fenix 6X and everything works amazing on it except instant pace (only in challenging areas like tree covers, near tall buildings, etc., under clear sky, it seems very good). Of course I mostly look at lap pace since that is quite accurate but was curious about this aspect. The same about 945LTE. Thanks and take care.
@mlegrand
@mlegrand 2 года назад
That’s actually hard to test on covered areas like trails. I have tried to test it and I’ve had such mixed results that I haven’t been willing to talk about it in a video. It feels like the data is very quick to show the increase in pace but during the time of running the displays seem to lag. Then it’s hard to tell which devices lag the most. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@clitaiulian4497
@clitaiulian4497 2 года назад
@@mlegrand Thanks a lot for your reply. It makes sense. People are preaching older Garmin models that have the ability to show instant pace very accurately but it seems a bit overstated. When GPS signal is hard to acquire, like in challenging areas, the accelerometer can kick in to supplement the GPS lag but that is also tricky, I guess. Some say the Suunto Fuse algorithm is pretty good on older models like Ambit3 or similar and keeps the instant pace at a steady rate. If that’s the case, it’s a shame that Garmin hasn’t been able to figure it out until now as the instant pace is quite erratic when GPS signal is hard to find. Take care.

My only doubt still stands on the battery life. So are the 16h training and 7 days "standing still" marks reachable?
@mlegrand
@mlegrand 3 года назад
Nice purchase! You’ll have to keep me posted on how it goes with the new watch. I think you can make some minor changes and get a lot more battery life if you need it. Turn off the connection to the phone, use a heart rate strap, pulse ox is also a hit on the battery so maybe use it sparingly when altitude training. You should experiment with all the options and see how long you can get the watch to go. 👌

Hey Nate, this is great feedback. Thanks so much for commenting on this one with your experience. For me personally, I have had fantastic GPS accuracy with the 745. @@natesilvers2166 - So I thought that the Garmin Enduro was really slow to respond to pace changes, so I tried to test that on a run recently. I wore it and the 745. They both seemed about the same. It’s wasn’t clear which one was the winner so I didn’t talk about it in any video but I should go back and review the GoPro footage. (It’s shaky footage of me with two watches held up as I try to run 6 pace for a little bit) Seems like the track mode would also help with this change in pace stuff because it’d be calculating the distance more accurately. It’s hard to say for sure without more side by side comparisons.
@natesilvers2166
@natesilvers2166 3 года назад
@@mlegrand I would be great if you could test the 745 against the 245 or 945 for GPS accuracy. I found my FR10 tracks and instant pace were more accurate. If I do 2 minutes on 1 minute off the average pace for each rep is the same on both watches but the FR10 pace graph is more smooth whilst the 945 it can shoot up and then compensates. For example it could say 3:27/km then shoot down to 4:01/km to get a 3:40/km average whilst the FR10 just reads 3:40 most of the time. It's just annoying when you're actually doing the workout and the instant pace fluctuates, I like to lock into a pace on the FR10 and see it hold steady knowing I haven't speed up or slowed down.
