By far, the most down to earth and practical garmin 745 review I've watched. Your speaking and demeanor is concise, informative yet relaxed. Thank you.
I love this - I never thought about popping in for a slice of cake during my run haha Yeah know, just some sugar and carbs to power the rest of the run. Great review!
Excellent review mate! I'd be running out to grab this if I could afford it. I do think the vivoactive 4 will do the trick for what I want though, so hopefully I can grab one of those at a great price instead.
@@wiggle I ended up with the Venu because I really liked the AMOLED. I felt like did my research pretty well in the end to get the one that had all the features I needed. I was a little disappointed though that the VA4 and the Venu don't have any audible prompts or indicators. I miss that a bit
Nice review, but Garmin has the pricing of this model all wrong. £450 is shocking. The 945 is almost the same price. Coros Pace 2 at £180 is the way to go. !!
I choose the 745, because I found a second hand used one (only worn once, full warranty) for 219 pound (danish kroner to english pound) so couldn't say no to that
Hi. You have great videos. Thanks for that. I'm undecided. Actually I wanted to buy the Fenix 6s pro. Can you tell me if the material on the 745 is identical to the 245? Lunette, feel in your hand... Thank you.
Thanks, the Fenis 6s Pro is an amazing smartwatch. we're pretty sure the material is identical on both the 745 and 245. didn't have them next to each other to check for sure tho! hope that helps
This was an incredibly helpful review, thank you! I’ve got a 10 year old 910XT was laughing out loud at all the new features. I am curious about display data fields: let’s say you’re cycling and want to show a whole bunch of data fields. Can you swap between two screens to see, say, speed, average speed, heart rate, elapsed time, time of day, hill grade. Can you do that?
Thanks Jonathan! Comments like this are the best 😀 Good question, and the answer is yes. Grabbed this from the garmin site, hope it helps 👍 Customizing the Data Screens You can show, hide, and change the layout and content of data screens for each activity. Select START. Select an activity. Hold Menu symbol. Select the activity settings. Select Data Screens. Select a data screen to customize. Select an option: Select Layout to adjust the number of data fields on the data screen. Select a field to change the data that appears in the field. Select Reorder to change the location of the data screen in the loop. Select Remove to remove the data screen from the loop. If necessary, select Add New to add a data screen to the loop. You can add a custom data screen, or select one of the predefined data screens.
@@wiggle Thank you! I would add to what Phillip S said six months back: you have a nice, calm manner. And for someone like me, a frequent cyclist/runner but not overly serious ... this was useful information, i.e., not too much in the more arcane features.
Really informative review, thanks. Am very tempted, but am unsure about whether it can take the quick fit 22mm bands. The online manual suggests you can take the strap off and put the metal bar back on the watch so as to then be compatible with quick fit bands. But Garmin support have answered this query to say the only compatible straps are the white, red or black that are not quick fit. The latter gives so many more options to customise the look of the watch. Do you have a view on this please ?
Hi Charles, thanks! The 745 has its own specific strap and is only available in black, red, teal and grey. Would habe been nice to see more varients from Garmin. Hope that helps.
@@wiggle Have a look in the owners manual found within Garmin's Forerunner 745 page, and if you go to "Device Information" then "Changing the bands" it states that you can replace the bands not only with the specific straps you mention but also "compatible QuickFit 22 bands". It seems to use a pin tool to achieve this. Odd that this does not seem to be talked about in any of the reviews I have seen, nor was it covered by Garmin themselves when I raised it with their technical support team !! There is such a great choice of colours in terms of the QuickFit 22 bands it would seem odd for the new model not to be able to make use of them.
Hi there ! Nice video! I got a question though. I run a lot, and I like to run at new places like when I'm on vacation. If I do a run of e.g. 25km, it is difficult to remember by heart which route I chould take. I'm interested in the FR 745. So my questions: 1- Can you load your own routes on the FR 745? (I think you need to create them using an external device?) 2- If the answer is yes to question 1: How does the FR745 guides you to follow the route? Does it only show the path (without topographical map like on the 945), and an arrow of your position and orientation on this path? Does it give directions? Do you have experience with this and is it easy to follow an own created route? Thanks a lot! Pieter
Hi Pieter, Thanks! If you want routes the 745 isn't the watch for you. Have a look at the 945 or the Fenix 6 range as these both feature route turn by turn / map guidance. Hope that helps 👍
I think it would be nice to watch a smartwatch review that isn't about reading the spec sheet that everyone is doing but rather, why would I want this particular watch. Which features would you expect in a smartwatch in this price range. For instance I personally am specifically looking for a soundless vibrating alarm and some more everyday problems where a smartwatch would be a nice addition to help me throughout the day. This is a sports watch so how did it help you doing exercise? Eventually, in which situations is the watch a better solution than the phone?
Hi Thomas, great idea. We try to cover the points we found most useful and not read from the spec sheet (but sometimes the facts are too intesteting to resist). We will cover these points in future reviews 👍
Thanks 👍The Fenix 6 is beast of a watch with so many features. Just depends if you think you'll need to use them all, if not the 745 will most probably do the trick!
@@hdmedia7404 You should bought the Fenix 5X. Gorilla glass on the 745 is not so durable as sapphire glas on the 5X. The Fenix series are in another league for durability.
I’d like to see the sleep widget you talk about. Also why has Wiggle got so expensive all of a sudden? You’re charging the same price as my local Indy running shop but with no delivery hassles or postage returns for warranty issues. They were delighted to get my money last week😘
Hi Scott, Here's some more info on the sleep widget from the legendary DC Rainmaker www.dcrainmaker.com/2020/06/garmin-shows-off-new-on-device-sleep-tracking-widgets.html. Great to hear you're supporting the LBS 👍We, like the whole industry are struggling with maintaining stock...ya classic supply and demand 👌Chapeau!
Hi Pablo, thanks for the kind words 👍ooo good question, if you need maps then the Fenix...If you don't then the 745...or the 945 which can be found at a pretty similar price. Hope that helps👍
Hi Deki, are you wondering about the watch power or the power output estimations for when in an activity? Watch battery stats are at 4:25 . You can link it to a power meter to help with body power stats too. Hope that helps
Thanks for the review, I am wanting it mainly for Cycling and the wrist size as I currently have a 235 which I enjoy but want to know does the 745 run the garmin training programs on the watch when doing one of the garmin training plans?
Thanks Declan 👍 vivoactives are awesome watches and would do the trick for running. But if you have the extra cash for an upgrade... the 745 is awesome and would recommend it for sure!
Hi Micaele 🇩🇪 I've found all the Garmin HRM to be pretty decent after a few months testing. No scratches as it tends to be pretty protected against your wrist. Not used them in sandy environments where this would be the biggest problem. Hope that helps
Which of the Garmin watches would you recommend if my main requirement is listening to my spotify playlists offline while running. Is there a good entry level Garmin which has good syncing with spotify that you can recommend? Thanks
what is that green bar on the home visor? and what does it mean that it says "7d 255"? mine says 7d 165. I cannot understand what this means for the life of me (the bar and the description below it)
i have the FR 245 music - i use it with the jabra elite active 65t earbuds, which have the bluetooth receiver in the right bud. I wear my watch on my left wrist and sometimes get connection dropout if my arm is hanging by my side (it's generally good when i'm running and my arm is at 90 degrees). Can you comment on the bluetooth connection strength?
Hi, the 245 is a great smartwatch and we've not heard of the audio dropping issue. It should have more range than the length of your arm. Have you tried the headphones on another device? we didn't test the 745's headphone but wish we had now!
Hey I agree that the 245 is awesome, loved the ability to run without a phone. I use the same headphone with my phone and can walk into other rooms and keep a solid connection which leaves me to believe the 245 is the issue, oh well
@@wiggle Thanks. I have the fenix 6s but no maps available for my device. Its crazy how expensive these devices are and still only have 3mb of storage space. It seems like price gouging to expect us to pay even more for music and maps.
Hi Wagner, both amazing watches and very similar in features. I'd say the Garmin is better as an everyday sport smartwatch, as the Vantage V2 has a bigger focus on trainging. Hope that helps
