This is probably the last new InReach device for private consumers. Starlink just launched a more mobile device, that will cover 80 % of the backpacking market, offering real internet - not something for UL at the moment, but it will for sure getting lighter. On the other hand, (emergency) satellite messaging is getting to more people on iPhones and Android. UL hikers will shy away from spending 500 $ for something their iPhone does partialy. In Glacier I heard that it is common practice under CDT hikers, to let the bear spray in its packaging so you can sell it better once your outside of the park.

Photos are truly the essence of humankind. Technology is cool.
