Garmin Lily Fitness Smartwatch Review // Fitness + Style

I have the smallest wrist and thank God Garmin finally released a small smart watch! Even though many are complaining of the lack of built-in GPS, I don't really mind since I only go for outdoor runs every so often and I never leave the house without my phone. Another thing that I like from this watch is that I'm sure that I'll be using all the features frequently, unlike with the Vivoactive 4S (which I initially really wanted, but its size keeps me from getting it), which sure is packed with features, but all of which I won't be using as frequently so it's not as a bang for my buck like Lily. Yes there are multiple smaller watches with more features, but I think what we're paying for in this one is having all the existing great Garmin technology fit in such a small, attractive watch. And also having to carefully pick which features to include for the market that they were targetting. Still a great buy for me.

Great review Des! I'm sure a lot of women are looking for something a little more professional looking to wear that's still capable of some of the activities stuff. HR tracking data looked good but overall I'm not a fan of raise to wake. I'll be curious how well this watch does for Garmin. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Shame about no GPS, would have bought one straight away!

Excellent review. I’m endlessly searching for an everyday smart watch I can wear while riding and training horses and working in the barn that isn’t as bulky as my other Garmin or an Apple Watch or quite frankly as expensive since the equestrian lifestyle is quite rough tech. This def makes my list.

I have wanted a smartwatch for a long time (and especially Garmin, because of their great quality), but their size and design was usually a drawback no matter how good and advanced they are. They are too huge and too visually "loud". I want to see what a smartwatch can do to my wellbeing but also I want it to look good in proportion to my height (5'1) and everyday clothes that I wear to work. The closest I could find was Garmin "Venu" but was still unsure because of its size against my wrist. It is still to large for my small wrist. But then suddenly this one comes out! Even though it does not support Garmin pay (probably?), I am buying this, because I have finally found one that ticks all the boxes! I am so happy that I did not spend money on something else. I am very happy that they are making sure that a larger audience can enjoy the benefits of a smartwatch. A total dream come true ♥️♥️

Can you do a comparison between lily and vivomove style?

I love that this watch looks like a Movado, which is a watch brand that sell watches in the multiple hundreds to multiple thousand dollars range. The engraved glass is beautifully done, as well as the bezel. As someone who's really into watches, self-care and fitness, it seems like the perfect fit to me. I also love the haptic feedback button which allow you to be more precise and quick while navigating the watch. Also the screen real-estate seemed pretty much equivalent to the bigger Garmin watch you shown for size comparison!

Shame it doesn't have GPS or onboard music. I think to have a Lily+ that might be slightly larger but still have the same design, would be appealing and be the best of all worlds.

Great video! Can you see your current Heart Rate while walking or running? Apparently it doesn’t show!? Is that true? Only visible with strength training.

Looks like a great 2nd Smartwatch for my girlfriend for her working day! It´look very sophisticated .

I have it . I have tiny wrists and I have found alot are painful and to bulky . Or the smaller ones create a stiletto effect pain point on the wrist when corght on one side . I think this watch is super comfy . Cons . Battery life isn't the best if you have the raise to wake on normal . You end up doing a dance like a wasps is near to try look at the time. Or you end up stoping tour walk / run altogether. And then it stops that workout. Very very annoying ! . . I also find the app quite hard compared to the hauwi one . I love that one . But there watches are to big . The watch is sexy looking and comfy . But . It needs some tweaks ! Slot of money for this level of stress to simply check the time !

Does anyone know how to add Pilates and indoor cycling as a fav workout ? Also how to change the weather to Celsius ? I’ve selected metric but it still is in F.

Awesome review! Would really love to see how the Lily compares with the 45s. I was really drawn to the 45s over the 245 simply because it looked more comfortable for my smaller wrists. Hope they continue this line and maybe the next version will have at least one physical button, not sure how I feel about the emergency assist being a touch control in a drop down menu

They really need to add GPS to the watch...would 9f got it for my wife if it had gps....I know its a much smaller watch so I understand...maybe in the future?

Gotta say, love the interface! Hoping they consider bringing this to a watch in a slightly larger size for us guys.

I love my Garmin Fenix 6 but it's quite heavy and sometimes when I am in suit I need a dress watch. This one actually looks great and still provides health tracking functions.

Does anyone know if the Lily supports garmin coach workouts? My wife is thinking of switching since her 45 is pooping out but she's currently on a training plan and doesn't want to risk losing access to the coach notifications. She usually runs with her phone on her if that helps answer the question.

Does this watch get notifications from apps like whatsapp and viber. If yes, can we read and answer them (something)?

So do I understand this correctly..... the screen appears with movement of the hand/wrist? What happens while sleeping for a restless person? Is the screen going on and off all night? Or is there a setting like on Fitbit to make it Manuel? Thanks!

It is a very lightweight and comfortable watch with a great screen, but it is very inaccurate. When walking the same route every day, I got different readings each day. It measured my swimming in the pool to be 4 calories in 15 minutes, or sometimes it does not work at all, body battery keeps getting stuck at 5 all the time, and more often than not does not connect to the phone. In the end I sent it back to be replaced, as surely this is normal performance. I am still waiting to hear from Garmin 😂

Did you hold the phone while you were cycling? Because im scared, that i will need to hold my phone in the gym while running on the treadmill. Does it also track everything correctly if i put my phone beside me while doing abs or other strength exercises? :)

Does the phone accurately measure the heart rate. Couldn't help notice during the video it defaulting to a HR figure when you started an activity without even wearing the watch. It showed 78 beats per minute. 🤔

Got one, at resale. It's elegant and comfortable on my small wrist. But performance is spotty and I doubt the accuracy. Perhaps that's why this particular one was let go for $50.

Did you test the golden ones in the sun? My partner has the vivomove HR and she can barely see anything on the screen when we are outside. Even when it is overcast.

Hello!! My dad got me this watch for my 13 birthday and I absolutely LOVE it!! The Only thing I would change about it is make the strap a bit longer. It fits me right now but I am still quite young and hopefully still growing so it would be nice if I was able to have ample room to grow into it. I see people complaining about non built in gps and the limited activities I am ok with that. Really the only ones that I needed are swimming walking running and biking. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a watch with a built in GPS and I’ve had no problem with them at all.

Can you change the display like if you don't want the analogue clock handles and want the digital display like on the sport version is that possible ?

to be honest the exercise recognition is not that great with the Fenix 5 either but you can edit it on the phone with no issue. Been looking for something like this for my wife for a while

I really like your videos and I've watched a couple of them today and they're are really good. I've been thinking of getting a smart watch with fitness tracking features for a while now, but I don't really want to go for iOS ones and I honestly don't like the watch dial in them(even the Fitbits). So was really happy when Garmin Lily came out. The animations and style are really appealing, but I'm a bit worried because it seems a little fragile for active people like me. Do you think it would be good for people who are active and would stand the intensity and also in the unfortunate event that it hits hard surfaces, I'm worried if it will fail like apple watches; do let me know what you think (activities I do: swimming, soccer, hiking, gym/workouts) ? Sorry for bringing this here, but I found Venu 2/ 2S to be meeting a lot of what I was looking for. And for females or people who are smaller like me I guess Lily/ Venu 2S would be a good option. But since Venu 2 is more rugged and is a GPS watch with really good animation and colour display I guess I'm a bit biased towards it. If you do find time do help me decide.

Hello! I’m thinking of buying this watch but I had a question, you mentioned that it is connected GPS and it doesn’t have a GPS in the actual watch. Does that mean if I go for a walk without my phone it won’t count my step count ?
