GC2 uses an algorithm and gives longer carry distances than Trackman. GC2 is very good for spin and club head data. The trouble with all software for simulator golf is that all software is using different algorithms to compute total carry distance and rollout. The key to all of this is to get launch, spin, ball speed, spin axis, and direction correct.
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF Год назад
Hey mate yes they are all using different algorithms. I have found my GC2 to be extremely accurate in terms of carry distance with the exception of driver. I think the driver may carry slightly long when the spin gets low and the launch angle remains high. Overall I think it is great for carry distance.. just like the R10 using the awesome golf app. Unfortunately the GC2 doesn't do club data only ball data as I don't have the HMT unit yet. Trackman and GCQUAD side by side are extremely close in carry distance. Again with the exception of driver when the GCQUAD overestimates the carry distance when spin gets below 2000rpm.

recently got an r10, and my awesome golf driver numbers are WAY shorter. the garmin app driving range has me consistently between 150-170 (2nd swing's simulator has me at 170-180), while awesome golf is showing between 75-130 yards. current firmware, device calibrated, switched between the apps multiple times and results were the same each time
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF 2 месяца назад
That is very strange!! I haven't heard of that before. Is there anything you're changing between using the apps? The Awesome Golf app should just be taking the data from Garmin and running it through its algorithm which I've found to be fantastic.
@JustMeAP1

At least 9 feet (10 better) from tee to screen and 7 feet (not 6 or 8) to the R10. This means one wall of netting is not enough. I also need to raise the R10 up two inches (on two bricks) to be level with tee on top of mat. Joe has surely placed his R10 on top of his mat without an especially large tee (at the same level) in a large room. It can matter.

This is a brilliant video - well done. I use Awesome Golf with the R10 and am very happy with the realistic numbers. The Garmin app is poor in comparison. I might go for GSPro soon but the fact that a gaming PC is required is a big minus. Thanks for the brilliant summary 👍

Hey Paul thanks for the comment mate! Yes Awesome golf is a hands down winner for stats and carry distances. I hope Garmin fixes their algorithm and makes their software as good as their hardware! I don't think it would take much for them to do.. And yes I would love to see GS Pro bring an iPad version but I'm not sure that will happen any time soon. Cheers

I noticed the reduced carry with the RCT ball off my 7 iron (Garmin app) than using a regular ProV1. I probably noticed 5-8yds less carry with the RCT ball.
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF Год назад
Hey mate most likely what's happening is you are getting a higher spin reading with the RCT vs the estimated reading from a regular Pro V1. So a higher spin will reduce the carry distance. For an example for the same golfer on the same shot all things equal (club speed, ball speed, VLA) if you don't generate as much spin say from out the rough (a flier) it will go further. Does that sound like what's happening? Cheers
@usa4x4trucks
@usa4x4trucks Год назад
@@JLagGOLF I think the spin with the RCT balls is about 500-700rpms more than standard ProV1s. I played with the elevation, humidity & temp to modify the r10 carry distance and make a good shot match a good shot at the local XGolf simulator. I’ve been using RCT balls and 5300ft (my area is 975 ft above sea level), 65% & 85* F. With these ball settings I can get 158-160 yds carry (34* 7 iron) with 84-85mph club speed and 108-110mph ball speed. It’s been a few months since I tried regular ProV1 balls - I’ll have to try them this weekend and see what I get.

I would mostly use Awesome Golf to practice (Coaching and Approach) and I would play a round in E6 maybe once a month. Now that I have GSPro, I play at least 6 rounds a week! It's highly addictive. When I wrote Rapsodo, they said, “Unfortunately, there won't be compatibility with TSG19 or GSPro at launch of our MLM2PRO. However, there will be in the future. We cannot give timeframes for this feature.” It seems apparent that Rapsodo wanted to push their own software at launch, which is why they included the $199 first year with purchase. In other words, they could have sold the hardware only for $499, but they want buyers to at least try their software to start. Unfortunately, their is just too much bridge to gap and the Rapsodo software is my least favorite. Regardless, they have a year to improve it before I abandon it in favor a third party app. Hopefully, we’ll see something with GSPro in a year.

Very nice analysis Joe. I am new to the R10 and have only had a setup in my garage for a couple weeks although I received the R10 for Christmas 2021! I have played several rounds on the Home Tee Hero app and get very frustrated with the inaccurate distances but also it seems to show almost all my shots going left (I’m a lefty) even though in real life my balls go mostly right. Any ideas why this might be happening? Also, what is the minimum required system needed for GSPro? Thanks
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF Год назад
Hey mate glad to hear you're finally getting the R10 set up!! Yeah unfortunately the Garmin app isn't great for carry distance. As you've probably seen in the videos the awesome golf app is hands down the best (in my testing and opinion) for data. So the first thing I would do is really check alignment (I have a video) and use a laser working back from the screen. Next check your actual alignment in the Sim room as you could possibly be inducing a bit of error. The next thing and probably most unlikely is that the biggest downfall of the R10 is its inability to read gear effect and spin axis as such if you hit a toe pull in real life the ball will go right however due to the short distance to calculate the R10 will most likely see the ball taking off left and stay left. This is a possibility. Hope that helps! Also on the GS Pro website they list the minimum system requirements: Recommended minimum hardware for 1080p play: 4GB free space GTX 970 8GB memory Stable internet Connection Ethernet port and/or BT depending on Launch Monitor For me I'd get a mid range or the best gaming laptop you can afford and then test the graphics setting and see what you can run it at. GS Pro lite isn't that demanding and still looks great! Cheers

I have the enclosure and everything just tired of moving the device to each club and selecting what club I'm using. Does the Garmin R10 come with a perpetual license for the 5 courses on e6 connect? Currently I have to pay a yearly license on Swinglogic. This seems like a great deal if it comes with the 5 courses for life!

Hey mate sorry to hear that!! So there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take. The first is to put your laptop into advanced Bluetooth mode. The next check a security setting in Windows 11. Disable the "Check Apps & Files" in the security settings. This has helped people. Make sure your PC or laptop isn't too far away from your R10 as well. Finally if all that doesn't work I would recommend buying a 3rd party Bluetooth dongle from Amazon and try and use that to connect to that.. Hope one of those steps helps!!!! In terms of apps you can’t go past Awesome Golf to be honest. It has in my opinion the best range for serious practice (the coaching range) as well as fun games for the kids and other driving ranges. Oh and you also get the 4 9 hole courses. So Awesome Golf (my kids love it) paired with the 5 free e6 courses you get with an iOS device is a great option. I started there and then eventually progressed to a gaming computer and GS Pro which is absolutely amazing software the simulator experience is literally the best I’ve seen. Because I'm not sure where I'll be living if I decide to move & my age (LOL), I'm plan to just use the Garmin App and the free E6 software for now otherwise I'd get the Awesome Golf subscription. I did trial AG & found as I discovered from a David Maxwell video that I had to adjust the Garmin app weather settings to match the AG carry distances (had to settle on a best average for all clubs since one setting would be perfect for lower irons & not for woods etc.). That was before Garmin upgraded the app a few times, so now I'm not sure if my weather settings are accurate now. I found I have to increase the elevation in E6 to match the Garmin carry distances. I guess I'm just confused since some say they always use the local weather settings and are happy with the carry distances & others say, they need to make adjustments. How far off do you think E6 is in regard to carry distances using the R10?
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF Год назад
Hey Tom you make me laugh hahaha. Ok so for me right now the Awesome Golf app is the benchmark. I really wish Garmin would have a look at their algorithm and tweak it slightly as it is short. As for e6 definitely check out the video in the description as it wasn't too bad really. It's definitely usable and not too far off the mark. However if I was giving someone a lesson or coaching advice I wouldn't use that app to do a bag mapping session. The thing e6 brings is Sim golf on IOS which is amazing but the carry distances are slightly off.

@hjlamb
@hjlamb Год назад
I see the same thing. That is a result of the fact that the Garmin device itself cannot read spin axis (as Joe has pointed out in other videos). IRL, my miss is nearly always a toe-y hook/draw. With the R10, that always reads as a push or push fade. The only way around that would be either a firmware update from Garmin (fingers crossed) or a different launch monitor.

You might get a bit more distance with your irons using a normal ball but its not a massive difference. Do you have a comparison like this for the MLM2PRO? I’d like to know between rapsodo courses, e6, and awesome golf, what the most accurate is.

Not yet but that’s a good idea! TBH ive found the MLM2PRO so accurate with all the applications. I don’t think it can read multi app sots at the same time like the r10 could just because of the way it connects but ill try!!

I’ve seen people claiming that certain apps are more accurate than others when using the MLM2PRO. So at least seeing a competition to the GC3 numbers would be cool. I recently ordered the MLM2PRO and want make sure I’m getting the most accurate shots when using sim software

Just ordered my R10! Super excited to get it. Is still possible to get the 5 free E6 courses?

Absolutely mate you will get access to them! It comes with the R10 even if you buy it second hand. Cheers

@@JustMeAP1 Hey mate the only thing not available for Android is the free e6 courses 👍 because the licence is for iOS only

@@JLagGOLF Got it - E6 CONNECT is only for high-end PC (with NVIDIA or AMD card) and iOS. No Android. 27 courses for $1,000. 42,000 courses for $10 for a month with Home Tee Hero on any phone in landscape mode. I played Royal Troon last week. Much easier than the real thing with simply hitting 20% harder from the rough. lol

Hey mate no we haven't had an update for the Garmin since this video. So all the results in this video for me are still correct! Cheers

After playing all these apps, I agree that Awesome Golf is the most accurate with distance and other data points. I have HTH because of the amount of courses and how cheap it is. GS Pro I play at my neighbors and I probably won’t get it due to price of gaming pc/laptop and also subscription isn’t cheap either. If Garmin ever comes out with app friendly GS Pro, then maybe I’ll upgrade but we shall see what happens. I’m sad that HTH algorithm is poorly off! Garmin must be working on fixing the issues no?
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF Год назад
I completely agree. HTH could be absolutely amazing. But I feel like Garmin hasn't really tried to improve it since release. They have added a few things to the Garmin app but users need a quicker turn around with updates. It's been months now on 4.30 and everyone knows the carry distances are out... I really hope Garmin are on to this with the next release. It must be a really small team at Garmin trying to work on this. If you are reading this Garmin then I'm happy to help out with any testing! 🤣

@@JLagGOLF my hopes are that Garmin is working on releasing a new launch monitor/simulator to keep up with the Rapsodo 2! I’m hopeful Garmin is working out the bugs and will add a port to support GSPro, or at least partner up with them. Either way I’m happy with the R10 and it’s easy setup. I think I’m less than a grand total for my setup in my garage. The R10 was the most expensive piece to my garage simulator. I’m happy with my selection in getting the R10. You made my choice so much easier by all your videos about it, so thank you Mr. Lagowski🙌🏽

I just hate Microsoft and the whole "crash Tuesday" world. Heard anything about GS Pro going to Mac OS on the M1 Chip Machines?
@JLagGOLF
@JLagGOLF Год назад
🤣 Crash Tuesday! Yeah I know what you mean look touch wood since I've had the gaming laptop it's been absolutely fantastic and I haven't had a problem. That being said it is pretty much a dedicated machine for GS Pro only. I have had Macs my whole life and they are great machines... So stable. That being said I haven't heard anything about GS Pro officially being brought to Mac. I know a few people run it through parallels.
