Using the Tread Overland is pure joy… but the syncing feature is ridden with flaws…. My first unit stopped syncing GPX tracks/Files etc so Garmin offered to replace it under warranty… unfortunately Garmin in the UAE won’t touch the unit because the Inreach feature is banned. For various reasons this forced me to purchase a second unit…. WHICH ALSO NOW HAS THE SAME FAULT! Ontop of purchasing two units I’m also forced to purchase two sets of Garmin maps for Middle Earth and North Africa… $300 and no updates! Buyer beware…. Garmin is aware of these faults but haven’t been successful in correcting them. Another negative is the ability to only download 1000 Birdseye grids either to the drive or to SD card. They should monetize Birdseye to keep World Travelers happy… erasing maps and uploading new ones for a new country takes days & days!
Nice review, I’m quite happy with the unit and have test it in several raids. Let me update your information with an important detail: you can absolutely navigate tracks with all informatio. Distance to waypoints and end of track, directions, time of arrival…. On and off road with all tracks. That is whyI upgraded from the overland.
I just bought one of these. So far it's the best NAV unit that I have had. It's Android based so I use the Carpe Iter BMW controller, Locus maps, and will load the DMD2 app in the future. I will check out your mounts.
Nice overview. I think the Pogo Pins for the power supply are not so optimal for harder offroad riding. They can „resonate“ on hard bumps and that is not very healthy for the batteries. But we will see later what users will report later.
Hi.Can the Garmin Tread be mounted on the bike in portrait mode? Also, am I right in saying you can navigate with Tread using both Garmins own navigating software, as well as the DMD2 navigating software? Thanks :-)))
Thanks so much for the information will presented. Is it possible to transfer Google location from my mobile to the device using the Tread App or any other means without computer?
Thank you RADE/GARAGE for reviewing product, if this fit in to BMW OEM mount via another adapter it would be very nice and you will not need charging cable
Great video, you might also want to mention that there‘s also the SxS version (instead of the overland) that includes the group ride function. Also even that it‘s a „car device“ it can be set to motorcycle including offroad in the proflie. The mount for the device is lockable!
the cables are part of the Overland. Normally Garmin don’t give it to you. and you must pay it extra but from us you have it for free with adapter for 12mm bar.
it depends what you ride. if you ride more rally events and more heavy offroad than the Carpe iter is for you. if you ride more adventure rides and sometimes you try rally event the Garmin can be for you.
