Great video! I'm a huge fan of standalone GPS units compared to using a cellphone. Sure, a cellphone is convenient, but when it comes to reliability and usability, a standalone GPS shines above a cell phone.
I enjoyed this video. I tapped into the BACK of my 12V power-port on my Gen-3 KLR Adventure, so I can keep the port open for other uses. Additionally, I utilized a low-profile Moto-Pumps security mount, (14mm) which mounts directly to the accessory rail. It is made exclusively for the XT and XT-II. Since our KLR bars are already vibration dampened, I am not worried about vibe's to the GPS. The moto-mounts is far more secure than the floppy articulating arm that comes with the Garmin. Won't bounce or shake at all.
Perfect timing for this video! I literally ordered the same garmin about two hours before you released this video. I was wondering how i would wire it to my KLX300 and how big it would look on in front of the dash. Now I know! Thanks for the video! Please let us know your thoughts once you've had a chance to ride with it. I'm curious how it will do not being behind a windshield.
I love my Zumo XT! Though your installation went much smoother than mine lol. Do you have an update on the Dunlop EN91 tires? I’m thinking of getting a pair for the klx and wanted some real-world feedback.
EVERYBODY bypasses putting the rubber grommets in and little metal sleeves in... Why? It's easy to assume that everybody knows what you're talking about, the directions from Garmin are not the best you have to go by picture and you sir missed an opportunity.
