Man!! I can still remember Garnett Silk from way back ..I'm 45 now I was living in The Bronx in those days... That Album 100 % Silk I still listen too after 2 decades and many of his other songs..Yes!! No pretension here but proud I was one of the many true fans from that time That honestly thought he might been the second coming of Bob Marley,You know one of our own from our generation for all true reggae fans...Your body isn't here anymore Brother! But your exactly what we need today in many of our youths.... An artist with roots, wisdom and vision.. Fuck it! I can goe on for a long time .. Garnett Silk truly one of the greatest ever in such a short time.. God Bless and Rest your soul*
Gannett was truly inspirational, a legend and a salvation soldier. I'm a great fan of Gannett and will remain so for a very long time. Rest in peace in the bosom of the Lord brother.
None like him. Garnet Silk, truly is an epitome of a complete reggae artist, spiritually-inclined with an unmatched golden voice. Listening to his music widens one's horizon in all spheres of human development. Nuff respect to this angel of God. I was fondly called by his name, when I completed high school during my youthful days and decided to take music as my way to voice out my frustration over a corrupted system and society, then in my home country -where whom you know was the measurement card to be given any employment opportunity. Though, my music career was short-lived as I did not get any kind of coaching, mentoring and guidance. May his gentle soul continue to rest in the highest chambers of paradise, and that of his late loving mother.
I'm 21 and i Love this Mans music I feel his every bar to my soul !!! ❤❤❤❤ rest in peace Mr.Silk , wish you were still around, I would love to have met u
'I ' the empress have been listening to Garnett since 1990 there's no comparison with any other artists gone before, and come after him , He take you there with him, and you I feel it all and know and overstand what he's saying the m,ĺove for all his people are a lover the best ever
I for one am glad that you all appreciate Garnett. But as a Neighbor of mine once told I, Culture sings Jamaican Street. That's why I think you all are comparing Garnett to Bob. There's also Luciano who I think is from the same parish as Garnett. We all have our preferences in singers, as it is said the best instrument is the human voice and we will all have our preferences.Sugar Minott was mentioned earlier and I think Dennis Brown too. Then there are the rappers and the dancehall style singers. hetep
Just found out this man existed last week. Used to hear his music as a kid but never bothered to look into it. Now I feel super sad that he is no longer around. Seems like the best black artists and leaders barely live to see their 40s.
Never seen an artist perform and worship at the same time. You can tell hes not just trying to entertain but to give praise and worship w the audience. RIP
One of the best Reggae artist who ever lived it's men like him who make me feel proud to be a Jamaican very spiritual clean and holy Garnette Silk live forever!!!
No disrespect intended, but Rasta is Rasta and Jamaican is Jamaican. Rastafarians were fought down, killed, and hunted by the some Jamaicans. Jamaicans from all sorts and backgrounds, but nevertheless Jamaican, gave the Rastaman hell. He in turned gave them Heaven. I should know, for I am that Rastaman who lived thru and saw and experienced the whole drama. So give Respect where it is due. No Rastaman no so called Jamaican vibe that has been promoted all over the world. Rastafari Live. And Respect to All Jamaicans Still. for there were sympathizers. Lets just keep it factual. OneLove
After the Renaissance came the man with whom reggae decadence was renounced, and repleted and magnified alongside other living legends. Reggae music must remember the 2nd of April.... and never forget the 11th of May....Oh yes Rasta!
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaard . I couldn't be a back up singer for this man , this music is just heavy heavy heavy . Thank you Mr. Silk , you sang so much truth , you have given me so much .
No difference between him live &record.Man voice too sweet everything connect.Gurry Garnett, still the best amongst them.Just total classic.R.I.P great.
The archangel’s voice! This man was full of the Holy Spirit. He’s probably teaching the angels how to sing. You can learn more about God in this man’s lyrics than they teach you in most churches.
It should be mandatory that we honor the Archangel himself Mr. Garnet Silk! The Government has has honored many artiste over the years some more deserving than others, and there is no doubt in my mind that Garnet should be recognized by the Industry/Government. Let us call on Tony Rebel (now a huge corporate voice who was like a big brother to Garnet, who was the big draw for the first ever rebel salute that people stayed out in the rain to see Silk) Yasus Afari ( Garnet's Mentor in Rastafari) and all his friends who were around him when he was the biggest artiste locally, before his untimely passing, to push the agenda to have this man honored properly for his incomparable contribution to our music Industry. He had biggest impact of any artiste in such a short time. What Garnet did, took Bob, D Brown, Peter Tosh etc. years in the business to do. Garnet changed the trajectory of the music at a time when it was being overrun by the sex, guns, and drug talk, he made it fashionable again to sing of righteousness and give praises, spawning a huge change where so many followed (Buju, Capleton, Luciano, and many, many more, including the slew of those that tried to copy his sound). Every big artiste wanted to be on a track with Garnet, even the biggest gun toting, or slackness artiste, because he was the new light and they all saw it. The most genuinely spiritual artiste I've ever seen. Humility and sincerity flowed from Garnet when he sang and spoke of love and God. Let's petition to honor this Legend, my favourite artiste of all times. Archangel Silk
When I see the great Garnet silk perform it brings so much joy to my heart on sadness at the same time but his legacy and his music will live on forever I was at one of his last concert in Trinidad on November the 26th 1994 my birthday weekend
GARNETT SILK WAS THE GREATEST REGGAE ARTIST. HIS MUSIC SO POWERFUL AND SPIRITUAL. PURE MEDITATION AND REFLECTION OF THE ALMIGHTY ALWAYS. GARNETT ACKOWLEDGE GOD IN ALL OF HIS MUSIC. WE LOST ONE OF THE FEW GOOD SOULS THAT WALK THIS EVIL EARTH. R.I.P TO FADDA GARNETT!
saintvrischika . He is the best in my book as well. Anyone else placed above him is strictly based on longevity of career and international acclaim garnered. Garnet had it all, that unique, booming, vibrato heavy voice, and his humility and spirituality shone through like no other before or after him. The absolute best!
Garnett's voice was a gift from Jah....Those un-Godly men who murdered Garnett and his Mother...I leave it to Jah....Garnett was the top of my list! I was blessed to see him live. Praise God/Jah and carry the message of Garnett's spiritual Silky, songs. One Love......
I recently discovered Garnett Silk he is one of the most amazing man that loves God and his life was an example like no other rare rare life you know dying all the way to his dad he lived a life of just being an example and God centered music and we’re talking good music doesn’t sound likeYour typical gospel this is really super awesome
Man,tears come to my eyes when i just hear his voice and how he had died and to think how it would have been with him still being with us today and blessing us with his music. This man had a voice that god had blessed him with and had taken him from us way to soon but his songs still can be heard today and will never be forgotten. jah bless
I remember I moved to Flatbush and the Rastas would be playing their music by the train station. One morning they were playing Garnet my mind was so captivated with his lyrics. I went searching for his cassette tape that day. He has been my number 1# Forever in my heart ♥️
a message to my 13 year old self: "beg your stepfather to sneak you into this show". I remember feeling so sad when I heard he was performing in Ocho Rios and I couldn't attend...sigh...what I would have given to experience such powerful performance;)
Yes, what a humble man, speaking the truth, we thank the Almighty that we could share the music from this gifted, talented singer a short time on our earth. His truth- speaking words will alway be in our heart. His music will never die. Bless him and his dear mother! R I P.
Such a blessing to have been introduced to Garnet while he was still alive. Such a tragic loss in his untimely death. Big up and always saying the truth, no matter what anyone said.
He is a lieutenant of Jah, did his works on Earth and was called back by the Father. Jah needed his righteous son back. He lived how he chanted - PURE.
It’s amazing how this man can move on to the next song without stopping if it was me up there I would of took a break but he just went on and on this man is amazing
love this clip! Garnet, is absolutely the best in my book, bar none! Anyone else placed above him is strictly based on longevity of career, international acclaim and accolades. This brother's impact in such a short time was immense, I don't think the music truly recovered from the loss of Garnet, based on the direction it was going with him as the figurehead influencing so many we lift up today to the faith, and making positive music fashionable again . He left a void that no one has been able to fill to this day. Garnet had it all, He cold sing any genre of music if he chose to, with that emotive, unique, booming, vibrato heavy voice. Most of all, his humility and spirituality shone through like no other, before or after him. The absolute best!
RIP ,the legendary Garnet Silk .. Garnet Silk , was so professional he song his songs in its entirety ..This audience was experiencing the last performance by One of Jamaica’s Greatest Reggae Artists Garnet Silky .. A man can take another man's life but he can't take his soul , Garnett is still with us and know man can take that away his music has and will live on .
We won't be saved without Garnett Silk Sr. - New Jerusalem, the only heavens of the holy & righteous. Thumps up if you agree. Big up Garnett Silk Jr., By Shiloh Alec Kannon
In 2 years time it will be 25 years since our beloved Garnet sadly passed away.... I'm calling for A BIG tribute concert to be held for him in Jamaica, 2019!

We need to petition the Industry to honor this Legend properly! It should be mandatory because of his impact. So many being honored because of longevity in the music, Garnet's body of work is timeless Gospel. Rest easy ArchAngel.
