He said before, years ago, he doesn’t like the fitting experiences associated with product launches. Because he likes the review aspect of the process. He doesn’t buy into all the hype, he’s skeptical. Makes sense his guard would be up. It was just such a stark contrast to the same video with Ian/Mikey from TXG if you haven’t watched that. They were praising the products and trusting the fitter
Interesting on Rick’s comments on the “wow that’s a great show” feedback in a fitting. I feel this when playing a round, number of times a playing partner will say “wow great shot” and I am like “er, average “ and I then get that I am ungrateful! The partner then says I am a kill joy - no , the only person that matters in weather the shot was good or not is the person hitting it!
Thing is, you have to roll with the good and bad, just because you get a bunch of negative comments doesn’t mean you should remove content, and feel like you have to explain it. Just own it.
@@dbo4506 says a lot about a person if they just want it all one way and can’t handle it if it doesn’t. You put yourself out there like that it is part of the territory, you’ll never keep everyone happy.
I would agree that Rick moves the needle. After watching his Taylormade Mini-driver review, I did purchase one, in part because of his assessment. Just like I want to go play Cabot Citrus Farms after Grants video, just like I want to break 50 with a playing partner from Bryson's series, just like I found myself recently watching some dude Nate Edwardson playing golf on RU-vid...who knew?
I would say Rick has more influence on the average golfer than a tour pro. Most people will look up a review before purchasing said club. I understand why he puts the shield up. The fitters are sales man just as much as they are fitting you for the club.
I think you’d defend him less if you’d seen the original video. It was far beyond arm’s length. He also didn’t address why he was swinging so out of character.
I think Rick redeemed himself on this one. He still has his issues, as we all do, but on this, I give him a pass after his explanation. It is very weird though that it took this long.
