Garth did a free live concert in Central Park. Some people said he’d wouldn’t get too many people to come because New York didn’t do country. They say over 2 million showed up. Amazing concert.
My husband and two sons (teenagers at the time) braved the huge crowd and attended the concert ... me ... I watched it on TV from the comfort of home. I saw Garth's every move on the stage, they, on the other hand, saw little dots from where they were perched. But they were glad that they had gone, they said it was great being in that huge crowd that gathered together with the same purpose... to enjoy Garth's music! 🗽🎵🎶🎙🎤🎸🎶🎶🎵
This is young Garth. He is now 60 & still kickin' it! Any song he does is great. He can make you laugh. He can make you cry. Married to Trisha Yearwood, another famous country queen. And yes that is George Bush. Garth does perform for presidents.
Garth was part of the "Class of 89"....where Garth, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt and I think George Strait all came on the scene the same year....and yes that was Bush senior
This was the start of Garths career… he was in his 30’s. Love me some Garth!!! Ain’t Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up concert version is a Must to check out too!!!!
Garth was in his prime right here…early 90s he was huge and it stayed that way. I forget how many years in a row he got entertainer of the year, but quite a few. The doc about him is 🔥on Netflix.
This is young Garth He still sells out shows in minutes. Years ago sold ot 2 shows in Vancouver BC Canada 🇨🇦 in less than an hour and added a 3rd show that sold out in under 10 mins Edit: he was known for the collarless shirts in bold colours and patterns
Great song!! It was originally written and record in the late 80's by the one and only Billy Joel. "Garff" made it his own with this rendition - and Mr. Joel loves it too! :)
Garth Brooks is the top selling Country artist of all time. He’s one of best selling solo artists of all time in general. Great Reaction once again AB. Having me over here saying Garff Brooks when listening to music. Lol.
Hello there - George Strait and Barth Brooks both have been extremely successful in country music. George Strait does have the "Nickname" King Strait - so as for which of these 2 artist - George or Garth as being the best selling Country Artist they would probably be very close to each artist. As a side note - the best selling Country group of all time is Alabama by a Country mile over all others. I love all of these artist and almost all country artist from the earliest days up to today's. From what I have read and heard - Elvis has the most total Diamond certified with 40 - if that's not the case please let me know.
Garth is top 1 all time, for me, but I grew up listening to him.... Looking forward to your reaction to a fast paced Garff song, like "Standing Outside The Fire"
This is young Garth. Saw him in concert at this time. He covered this song from Billy Joel. There is a point where Billy joined him on stage - they did this and New York State of Mind. It was awesome
Garth is the number 1 selling solo artist of all time and only 1 group is above him, those guys from Liverpool, The Beatles. His albums are what makes him so special. They are fantastic songs from cut 1 - 12. He has more Diamond Albums than anyone; including the band from Liverpool. If I was stuck on an island and had only 1 male vocalist to listen to..It's Garth all day everyday.
Garth Brooks and Dave Matthews Band were tied for top performing artists in the mid 90s for a few years in a row. Garth was swinging from ropes over the crowd while singing. He was a bit of a wild man.
❤ written by Billy Joel and performed perfectly by Garth. Magic! He once said (paraphrasing) “It’s easy to feel like a big star, until Billy Joel walks on stage. And you hear the crowd.”
Garth Brooks was my favorite artist from about age 5 to about age 25, and I still smile every time I hear one of his songs start to play. Love your stuff, man! I would love to see you react to a funny country song, like Mark Chestnut's "Bubba shot the jukebox" or Joe Diffie's "Third rock from the sun"
So good! I love me some Garth! He's the reason I listened to country throughout the 90s and early 2000s. He's best in a large auditorium where he can let loose. Garth never left his heyday. He took a break of several years to co-parent his kids, but when he came back he still sells out stadiums in minutes. I may or may not have stood in line for tickets for hours back in the day on multiple occasions and hovered over Ticketmaster waiting for 10:00 a.m. in the more recent past. Lol. There is absolutely nothing like the electricity and energy at a Garth concert! Any Garth you can find on RU-vid is gold - go for it before it gets pulled down. But "Ain't Goin' Down Til The Sun Comes Up" is so much fun and high energy if you ever find that! Here's some info on his status as a recording artist: "Brooks is one of the world's best-selling music artists, having sold more than 170 million records. As of 2020, according to the RIAA, he is the best-selling solo albums artist in the United States with 156 million domestic units sold, ahead of Elvis Presley, and is second only to the Beatles in total album sales overall." ~ Wikipedia
For years Garth was the #1 artist I wanted to see in concert and I finally got the chance around 2015 and it was incredible. Shameless was never even one of my favorite songs of his and his performance of it was so captivating, he clearly connected to it and there was no holding back- not that there is any holding back at a Garth Brooks concert!! I was so happy that in his 50s at the time he was still running circles around the stage!
LOVED this!!! This was still in the beginning for Garth Brooks! Always have to do live... his big concert in 1990/1991 was put out on VHS and was FIRE!!!!!!
One of my top 5 Garth songs but that third verse, every time, CHILLS. One of the top ways people can impress someone is making them want to learn how to do what they are doing. Garth makes me want to be able to sing like that without blowing my vocal cords out XD
I remember seeing this live on TV and it BLEW MINDS!!! This was THE introduction to people who didn't listen to country and when he was heard on Rock/Pop radio also
I saw Garth in December of 1991… I was 17 years old, a Senior in High School, & loved Garth! Lol! My boyfriend at the time, my little brother, & I camped out at the mall to be first in line when tickets went on sale at 10am, on a Saturday morning in October 1991 @ 10am….. Sure enough! We got 3rd Row, Center in Charlotte, NC! It was my Christmas present from the boy….. Ahhhh! To go back and experience all of those experiences again! The concert…. And afterwards…. When my bf got my Christmas present to him! 😜😜😜😂😂😂🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ Garth’s song The Dance was my Senior Classes, Prom theme! Lol! ERHS CLASS OF 1992! 🎉🎉🎉 Now I don’t listen to Country any longer…… Not my thing but damn! I love watching all of your reactions & reminiscing! Thanks for giving me the feels & helping me relive some long, lost memories! 💜💜💜 Sending you love & positive vibes from the coast of South Carolina!
Garth Brook's cover of Shameless was by far the most successful version of the song. Billy Joel who was the original writer of the song never released it as a single but it was a track on the Billy Joel album Storm Front.
If you haven’t seen Ken Burn’s documentary on country music, it’s really good, and shows how much variety and influence there is in it. Also, if you haven’t heard Jim Croce, he’s awesome 💕. I remember finding one of my mom’s records of him as a teen and thinking it was amazing.
At this point,Garth was just starting out...his 1st album came out in '89/'90 I believe...and Garth was about 31 yrs old when he did this song...FUN FACT*** Shameless is a cover song that originally below to Billy Joel
New watcher to your channel, this was heyday garth but I saw him a couple of weeks ago live in Houston and he is still rocking it out! Def top 5 country imo (king straight and some old country legends makes for a tough battle though)
Really enjoy your appreciation of any type music. Next....??? Big Band Era, The Dorsey's, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Andrews Sisters or even The Ink Spots
I've loved Garth since i was 11 years old. He's my absolute favorite! If you can find some of his newer stuff it's just as awesome Man Against Machine Cold as You Party Gras
91 was late to early 30’s. This is on his second tape. So this was just the beginning. I’ve live that man since I was 7, I’m 40 and his still the BEST in my eyes
i did not know this until the last time i went to a billy joel concert several, and i mean, several years ago.... billy joel wrote this song and even put it on an album. thankfully, billy played it that night and told me/us that story.
Love your garff reactions! He absolutely is a legend, and I would put him in top 5. Just my opinion He's one of the best of all time. You're hilarious, by the way!
That was indeed President G H W Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush. Garth is literally one of the best performers out there. His passion for being on stages comes through his pores. I’ve been to several of his concerts growing up luckily. He quit music in his heyday abruptly to focus on family and take care of his kids. When his kids reached over 20 he and his wife decided it was time for him to get back to music and touring again so he performs sporadically. Almost impossible to get a ticket when there’s a concert.
Early Garth, very early I believe. I just absolutely adore this song. Already got goosebumps. Garth Brooks is another legend that can and does put on one hell of a damn show. There is also a still confusing part where he switched genres and names becoming I believe "Chris Gaines" we all have hiccups so I try not to hold it against him, but it was just intensely weird. Every time he comes to TX we try and get tickets but they literally sell out in minutes.
This was the beginning of his career. Late 20s-early 30s. I was four when this came out too! I grew up listening to him. My dad would sing his songs around the house all the time. Him and George Strait.
He had a song banned from radio and tv for being too controversial…. More people outside of Country music should’ve heard it. It’s one of the most powerful songs ever sung. We Shall Be Free - Garth Brooks
@5:16 Yes, you were correct. That was George and Barbara Bush in the audience. And BTW, Garth was 29 in this. The early to mid 90's definitely were his heyday.
I really hope Eric Church is on your country list. "stick that in your country song". "wrecking ball" you can't go wrong with any eric church songs. I have seen him live in concert twice now. His shows are amazing!
I've been a Garth Brooks fan since I first heard 'Friends in Low Places' on my way to work one morning. I was singing along by the end of the song, and I sang it all day long. I could be mistaken on the exact time, but I'm thinking my child was 3 or 4. She just turned 38. She too is a fan. Love love love me some Garth Brooks music!!
Its George Strait, Conway Twitty, Garff Brooks in that order. You should here Beaches of Cheyenne, Standing Outside The Fire video, It's your song (he made that for his momma who died of cancer. Shit davel into some of his newer music like Mom and Cold like that. Hes got sooooooo many great songs.
If you need to do live with Garth, do one from one of his concerts. He doesn't hold anything back! This is actually a Billy Joel song. They are good friends
