An 80s sci-fi and medical spoof aired in 2004 on the UK's Channel 4. The Darkplace team are close friends of the Mighty Boosh and have been performing together for ages. There are guest appearences in Darkplace from the Boosh. You may recognise Darkplace's Lucien Sanchez and Dean Learner as the Boosh's Dixon Bainbridge and Saboo.

This is one of those rare shows that actually gets funnier the more times you watch it.

You guys notice how Dagless didn't leave out of the door? He just left the set. I love this show.

There's so many subtle pieces of incompetence: - Garth types with two fingers - the King Lear quote has a page number, not a scene/line number - the door to the children's ward doesn't match the next shot in multiple ways - Garth doesn't leave Thornton's office via the door. It must have taken real effort to get this so spectacularly wrong.

From the moment I saw the stagehand toss that cat through the doorway, I knew that this was quite possibly the most brilliant show that had ever graced the small screen. It -- and its five subsequents -- did not disappoint. Where the hell is season two?

This is brilliantly done. It gets that low-budget 80s show vibe down pat. We need more shows like this. Shame it only lasted 6 episodes, what a brilliant premise.

This was the show that expanded my knowledge of British comedy. I loved Richard Ayoade in this, so searched for him, found his appearence on Big Fat Quiz with David Mitchell, which led me to Mitchell and Webb, which led to QI...the list has not stopped expanding, but this is where it all started. Thank you, Steve, for saying, "Hey, you might like this thing called...".

This show is 6 episodes of pure comedy genius. Each viewing is funnier than the last. This and "I'm Alan Partridge" are the funniest things I've ever seen... and Laurel and Hardy of course!

This was brilliant. Of all the episodes, my favourite line is still the producer's description of the deceased actress: "She was like a candle in the wind... ...unreliable."

My brother brought the DVD of this for a Christmas gift for me. He figured that because I’m a fan of Ed Wood (the worst movie director), I’d love this. He didn’t disappoint. Thanks, Alan.

They really should resurrect this in a 'modern Doctor Who' style, with Garth having somehow become an all-powerful Russell T Davies/Steven Moffat type showrunner since 2004 - and given a blank cheque by the Darkplace fanboys now running C4 to dowhat he likes wit the cult fshow's format. Really looking forward to the new novel in November, BTW.

I think the best follow up would be a terrible hour long pilot for a remake of Darkplace that’s just an absolute mess of a legacy sequel

Thank god for guys like you uploading this. The useless 4oD channel channel 4 has and it's stupid advertising and, for some reason, forcing the video to "load" in a few seconds mean watching anything from them for more than about the first 2 minutes is impossible.
