"Didn't the digital boards win an award" "Well deserved!" Real hard hitting reporting there guys. Way to grill the top exec and have the pulse of the people on this issue.
I think the NHL was interested in bring a franchise to Vegas back when they held a Kings home game at the fight capital of the world Caesars Palace. It amazing to see Vegas get to a finals twice since their existence in 2018. Not as amazing as my Avs winning the Cup in 96 in the franchise first yr but it is pretty electrifying in its own right. Both teams are super tough and id be happy to see FL or Vegas win a Cup because both team deserve to be where they are. We as Fans wanna see Hockey in the Olympics Forever and for it to NEVER go away.
The Arizona Coyotes have lot $115.2 million (USD) between 2013 and 2023. The Arizona Coyotes are the lowest valued team in the NHL $450 million. The Arizona Coyotes are consistently at the bottom in attendance (even before the move to Mullet Arena). "[In reference to Arizona] It's an awesome market. IT IS TOP FIVE, we're close to it, and it's a place we want to be. And there are great fans of hockey and the Coyotes, and we're hoping to work it out."" - Gary Bettman (November 01, 2023) Despite being last in attendance, last in valuations, and losing the most money for the NHL over the past ten years Gary Bettman went on the recod to say Arizona is a "TOP FIVE" market. I often think he should not be commissioner anymore, and comments like those solidify my feelings.
I know a lot of us (including me) may not agree with some of the things Bettman does (looking at you, Arizona and digital ads), he has done a lot of good for the sport. Like he said, it’s a lot safer, but it’s still hockey. More skill is on display, teams can be competitive, and I think it’s important that he actually goes and talks to the players. He definitely cares about the league, it’s just that I think he has the wrong idea of specific issues such as the Arizona situation.
LOL would ice hockey work there. Yeh of course, they can off set the costs. But does in work in Phoenix, no, but the fans are paying the cost to keep the team there. Gary Bettman needs to go
The NHL big business sports entertainment industry has been an incredible financial success revenue wise and growth to fulfill its bottom line imperative for cartel partners. Unfortunately the league is stagnating with Canadian franchises who haven't won a Cup since 1993 and now seeing a worrisome trend of players refusing to or demanding trades to perceived 'better' U.S. markets with no tax, perceived lifestyle benefits, and other intangibles. Bettman's profit pursuit - his raison d'être - is at risk though of creating a two-tier system. The rule book is also over complicated leading to incredibly erratic interpretation of reffing whose standard of enforcement can change within a period let alone the high volatility amongst officiating teams across the league.
The only reason Vegas and Seattle have competted and entered the playoffs as they have, is due to the lost of top player, top prospects....unlike teams of the past
Can you name one top player on the Kraken? They were not a good team their first season and it's not like they just got lucky to make the playoffs this year, they played pretty good hockey without having a star player, they had 4 solid lines and improved as a team this year.
They got misfits. 3rd and 4th line guys. Jared mccann would still be on pittsburghs 3rd or 4th line because Sullivan refused to use him the way seattle does
@@JarradBruessel32 No, that's what the Washington Capitals got when they entered the League. The NHL allowed both Vegas and Seattle to stack their teams compared to the Atlanta Thrashers, which is a situation the NHL did everything in its power to repeat.
How does MLS replace the NHL in the Big Four? MLS sits outside the Big Four along with the CFL in North American pro sport. Of course, the CFL is a grunt, welfare League by comparison.
@@JarradBruessel32 yeah - having the greatest soccer player of all time, and a man who is seen as a god among many in the world (ala Michael Jordan) doesn’t move the needle for the mls at all.
@@Decembersown21 a guy who is old and is being used as a pawn to try and bring relevance to the league. The nhl doesn't have to do this because they already have all of the best in the world lmfao
@@Decembersown21 once messi retires in a couple of years people will stop watching because the mls still doesn't have all of the top talent in the world. The nhl has all of the best talent in the world. For Russian players we have Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Malkin, kaprizov, svechnikov and soon we will have michkov. For sweden we had zetterberg, forsberg and lidstrom now we have Raymond, Pettersson, edler, hedman, william and erik karlsson, filip forsberg, zibanejad, both Aho's, rasmus dahlin, both soderblom's and so many more for years to come. For czechia we have all of their best players. For finland we have all of the best. North America is also a melting pot of all of the world and soccer is the world's sport so the fact it still isn't even top 3 in the country shows just how poorly ran the mls truly is. Minnesota has had multiple mls teams. The current one finally is getting a little support but again, we will never have a top 100 player in the world playing for our team when they could play overseas and make more money. The mls is where the worlds best soccer players go to retire. Meanwhile the nhl is where players go to play in the primes.
