The late Laurie cunningham from WBA to real madrid was a tragic story but he was the pioneer of top english players particularly playing in the la liga for barca & real madrid..he could be as successful as lineker, beckham & mcmanaman if not for that tragedy that ended his life..
Barca in 86' were not a huge club outside of Spain, Lineker was sold to Barca as Kendall believed he was going to be their next manager, however, that went down the shitter!
The foreigners were better than the English technically as a rule. In general. But there were some notable exceptions over the years. Too many to mention here but in the 80s you had guys like Glenn Hoddle, John Barnes, Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne etc and in the 90s you had the likes of Paul Scholes, David Beckham etc who would not look out of place technically in any game, anywhere.
No he didn't say British sides were bad at football. He said that they weren't technical. Our best players at the time were big fast strong hard. He's just talking about technical skills.
Interesting he didn't mention the money. His wages went up massively when he went there. He was on around 1500 a week at Everton, then goes to Barca on 6000 a week. Must have played a part in going there.
@@spa2damax Of course, but when your wages are going up by a big amount, it has to have an influence. It would do for many people, in any walk of life.
Have you run a poll of a typical key board muppet speaking on behalf of the population? Gary is a hero who thinks for himself and not afraid to question inequality and greed.
Great goal scorer. One of the greatest English forwards. Very articulate. Very bright to be able to learn Spanish and Japanese. Definitely not a muppet.
@@spa2damax Probably because he has aired some political views. I didn't take much notice what he said but it did upset some people. Why I didn't take any notice of his views is because he is an ex footballer and unless it was racist or extreme right or left I couldn't care less.
