Rest in peace, Gary Moore... so sad of a day... your guitar stays with us, and you shall live trough it. Farewell...
† Gary Moore was found dead in February 06 2011, while on vacation at Costa del Sol, Spain. †
- - -
Gary Moore and friends performing "Cowboy Song" in the "One Night in Dublin: a Tribute to Phil Lynott" concert at The Point Theatre, Dublin, Ireland, August 20th, 2005. [Part 7/10]
I like this one very much. Calm and simple lyrics, but still very deep. It reminds me of Whereer I May Roam, from Metallica...
---
Phillip Lynott was the bassist, lead singer, lead composer and frontman for the band Thin Lizzy, in wich Moore played for some time too.
Gary Moore (was) an renowed guitar player, his style ranging from Heavy Metal and Blues to Country music.
Scott Gorham played with Thin Lizzy from 1974 till the breakup and is known as being one of the band´s signature "twin guitars".
With no further ado, enjoy this song in high quality, and see all the other parts of this historical concert in my channel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Parte 7/10]
Eu gosto bastante dessa. Letra calma e simples, mas ainda assim profunda. Me lembra da Wherever I May Roam, do Metallica.
---

Gary may not have had the recognition around the world but he was one of the most brilliant guitar players to have stood on a stage, I was lucky enough to see him play live a number of times in the 70's and 80's as well as seeing Lizzy amongst many other bands at that time, RIP Gary and Phil.

That haunting intro gives me chills. His chord inversions somewhat modernizes the song. It proves Gary’s mastery of the guitar and demonstrates his knowledge of harmony and phrasing. Truly a musical force, no doubt one of the very best.

We can, we must, and we will honor the massive impact of Phil Lynnott’s poeticism, punch and melodic structure. But Jesus Christ the twin attack of such beautifully synchronized dual leads is a wonder all its own to behold. And it really made Thin Lizzy such a magical powerhouse.

I was lucky enough to see Gary live twice, and he was wonderful. I had never heard of him until I saw him back up Rush in the 80's. He was touring on the Victims of the future album, and I knew he was special after about one minute! His guitar tone was so beautiful and powerful, I remember it to this day. Also got to see him in a small club in Chicago. It was his Wild frontier tour, and there couldn't have been more than 300-400 people there. As great as he was, he never hit big in the US, especially in his hard rocking years. Nobody plays with more soul and passion than Gary.. An all time great!

Gary looks like he was having so much fun at this concert. He spent his whole career being hard on himself, striving for a perfection he could never achieve, because he didn't realize that to all of us he was already light years beyond perfect. Hopefully in these later years he realized that and got to enjoy what he did.
