It easy to forget just how good GM was when you don't hear him for a while, and this is a perfect example of his inspired playing. RIP Gary, we miss you.
@@gray159 From north wales. Couldn’t have put it better myself! 66 now, live near Liverpool and Manchester. Seen em all. Best version EVER of red house! Even better than the master! OOPS THATS DONE IT!
Gary comes out and COMPLETELY slays the audience and every freaking guitarist in that auditorium and around the world. Nobody can top this. He is IMMORTAL !!!!
If you don't mind I will add something to your accurate list of qualities "There's feeling" something that you can't learn on the books! We deeply miss you Gary!
The intensity in his playing was just phenomenal, his bends and vibrato were as good as anyone’s…some of the notes he hits in this performance bring up goose bumps on my neck. So glad I saw him live.
Hands down one of the greatest performances I have ever seen! Not only is Gary’s guitar playing both inspired and sublime so are his fellow band members Pino Pallidino on bass and Ian Thomas on drums - Superb!
There isn't many " natural" guitarists that are born, but Gary Moore was born to play guitar ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️R.I.P 💔💔💔💔❤️❤️❤️
If blues guitar is a science or language , then Gary Moore deserves a Nobel Prize, there's enough licks here to keep most of busy for eternity! What a performance by the great man, sadly missed.
Your comment makes it sound like you are new to Gary. If so spend some of your remaining years getting to know him. 😄He left a great catalogue of music and yes he can give Carlos Santana a run for his money in the "guitar face" game🤣
I came late to Gary Moore, but this performance, well, the same thing as Dan. I'm 68 and have been listening to music since the early 60's, and I felt a chill go down my spine.
@@pupdef If the master on the amp is almost all of the way up and the volume guitar is almost all of the way down, you can a get out huge dynamic range out of just the the right hand.
... send, naow... Love G.M... jimmi, even more... but have a little listen to Steve Hillage albums, Green, aend, Motivation Radio... if you love really good gtar, these alone, will make you TRIP-!!!...
I read somewhere in the comments that Gary was one of only two performances that got standing ovations this night!!! For the 50th anniversary of the strat I think this speaks volumes!!! The other was David Gilmore BTW fyi!!!
This has to be one of the greatest guitar riffs ever. No one & I mean no one can hold a candle to Mr. Gary Moore after this. The man just rips that Stratocaster to shreds. Man, no wonder so many greats guitarist reference Gary. A true icon. R.I.P Mr. G Moore
Right on, brother. This man was absolutely the King, no one can touch him. Clapton was supposed to play there that night but pulled out when he found out Gary was going to play...he knew Gary would chew him up and spit him out. Gary Moore, the Master of guitar, and true legend.
@@ranman5491 This has to be one of the stupidest things I've read in a while, Clapton and Moore are old men with nothing to prove, you think they're going to try and show each other up like kids in a hollywood movie?
@@ranman5491 not many will know Gary hadn’t been able to play for over a year because of a botched operation on his hand, he got asked last minute to do this show and poured everything into it as he always did
Gary Moore is such a beast, this is brutal playing & amazing control. Very underrated guitarist/singer/musician. One of the best versions of this song. Gary slays the fuck out of this song, so much emotion and brief wah moment is so worth listening to again. RIP Legend
I always thought he was better than Stevie. His songs, vocals were head and shoulders better than Stevie and his playing was right there with him, if not better.
The thing with Gary was that he did realize how good he was but he was very humble about it and really only played because he loved music so much. This man was a legend and will remain a legend forever
@@thomaswilson6694 on his day he was the greatest ever imo, he definitely knew how good he was but forever remained in love with his craft and never stopped learning
There is underrated, and GARY IS THE THE THE MOST UNDERRATED guitarist of all time by a very long way. My God, its like Jimi, SRV and many others fused into one.
One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. Gary Moore is one of my favorites, and he deserves way more recognition as a solo genius--not only as a member of Thin Lizzy...
Every superlative that can be given to this performance has been given across all of these amazing comments. Surely the RIP comments are not needed though, as the man literally lives forever through the performances he left us, like this one. He absolutely annihilates and elevates a classic blues tune like nothing I have seen before. This performance and the mans talent and legacy is immortal in my opinion.
@@wobblynoggin this was from the strat pack dvd in case anyone wanted to know. And it was the best performance on the dvd. And his hand was injured too. Hard to believe.
Now here is a man who felt every note he played. True perfection. I can see him and Jimmy chuckle under a tree in a field up there in heaven somewhere. Just classic.
Came back to listen to this after a year or so. Yes JB, SRV amazing but GM unreal and one of a kind, nobody could ( and still can’t play like him) the stuff he did on this solo is legendary!!!!!
I’ve always loved Gary’s playing Evers since I saw him jam with Freddie King, Albert King Albert Collins and BB King , they all gave him inspiration, besides SRV and Gary I’ve never seen another guitarist give and express so much emotion in their playing and I’ve never seen anyone else transcend while playing , personally Gary gives me electric goosebumps when I listen to him especially on So many roads with John Mayall and Buddy Wittington, this has got to be for me the best tribute anyone could give to Jimmy , I bet this made Jimmys bones shake
Your right there, you get 110% Garry when he picks up a guitar. Good example is when he played here with Albert King who can be an intimidating surly bugger if he wants to. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6V48_CvbHP8.html Garry gave great support guitar it should be added, but when he took his solos it was in your face full on Garry with a sound no one can dominate. Albert had no idea who Garry was when asked to play on "Still got the Blues" but you can tell by the smile on his face in this live performance he was won over by then. Albert rated Garry and SRV highly and said in an interview he would have flown anywhere if the two of them had performed together. Garry's song "King of the Blues" is about Albert, much of Garry's phasing is Albert King inspired.
@@hendrixfan1453 ... This was GR8, yes... but... there is a Killa live virgin of Jimmi doo-win Redhouse on a Hendrix comp album called Kiss The Sky. Check that out...
Some of the "Qualities" that make up the greatness of Gary Moore....He Played LOUD!, I mean Frank Zappa LOUD!!!, this is always welcome in a guitar player of his caliber He's "heavy handed" and he plays "noisy" WHEN HE WANTS TO (he'll never be accused of using canned or taped guitar work during live play) He had a greatness and an openness to his music and his playing...He kept his ego on the fretboard, where it should always be kept....What a Monster, I will always miss him.
Jesus what a great great player! Absolute control and power w lots of volume no less. Fuckn maniac. I would say rip Gary, but there's no way that Guy is resting! Unbelievable spirit. Incredible prescence
@@darrenlay3198 : “You’re”, and you need to watch more Hendrix videos. Moore is standing on Jimi’s shoulders … is that what makes him look taller to you?
Fast blistering blues, soulful wah licks, backed off volume sweetness...and everything in between. I've heard people call Gary a one trick pony with no soul. He shows it all here, there's no denying his brilliance.
You get the most perfect guitar ever made and give it to one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived and this is the result. Thanks for the music, RIP Gary Moore.
I purchased the DVD of this 50th Anniversary celebration of the Fender Stratocaster just for this amazing cover by Gary Moore. Rock the house in Heaven, Gary!
