I remember driving at 2am on the freeway with my 5.0 all windows down and blowing this song up... that was 30 years ago. Dont have that Mustang but still have the feelings for this masterpiece
I also agree that hardly anyone out there can make the guitar full of emotion like he does I've been a big fan for many years he first came over here when he was 16 to play for skid row and he never came back we had Stevie Ray Vaughan Gary Moore he stayed over there mostly in playing
Hello Rone, life is short, ( 65 ) Gary Moore and others make it better , i bought a Les Paul Standard and amp 1.5 years ago just to express emotion with sound ( never played before ) as i did not want to paint & sculpt any more.Resently Sold the house and gave all away including guitar . Going full time slow travel, where i go the blues will be there to listen and lift me up, may even get an acoustic for the road and try again because these sounds all ways inspire me. This is the gift that Mr Moore and others share
27 years old here and there’s NOTHING like classic music!!! Anything from the 20’s - the early 80’s hands down the best music of all time!!! And Gary is definitely one of those musicians that pour their soul and heart to the guitar! That’s a true MUSICIAN!
25 years old here and I wholeheartedly agree. So glad people our age can still discover such classic hits through venues like RU-vid and Spotify. Absolutely incredible.
60 years old and I've won three regional music trivia contests in the Northeast and in my opinion you will never ever in your life hear more emotion poured onto the strings of a guitar than this.
My sister has been bugging me to play some music trivia game. Haven’t. We would probably do well. She was a professional musician playing classic orchestral music. Me never a pro but I am into trivia.
A Masterful player, who also mastered at the genius of leaving space. He used 4 instruments to make this performance Brilliant. His hands & guitar, his voice, his soul, and his heart. RIP GARY MOORE 🎶🎸
One of the few guitarists when I can freely say that he didn't play the guitar, but the guitar was an extension of himself, through which he expressed his deepest feelings and all the colors of his soul. He amazes me each and every time and raises my sensibility almost to the point of tears. A unique artist, one of a kind. RIP Gary, we miss you terribly...
I'm 74 and just heard this guy today for the first time. Absolutely Fabulous, and a great voice. But what a guitarist. Must be the best. My next purchase is going to be everything he's done!.....What a shame he's not with us anymore. I'll be buying any video of his too. Damn, where have I been all his life!.......................
@@charlesjohnson9249 Well, doing the Beatles, and then the rest of the '60s & '70s stuff. Then after he family, I became a soundtrack fan. You know, most of GM;s slow stuff could easily be ''turned'' into this type of music. After all, the slow beat/pace is equivalent to that of many film scores, like Mark Knoupfler's theme to Local Hero, and he's a great guitarist too, as is David Gilmore, Brian May, Hank Marvin and Justin Hayward etc. This brings me to all the best film composers of our time, i.e., John Barry, James Newton Howard, John Williams, and of course my favorite,
I remember when I bought this cassette "Still Got The Blues" with other cassettes in '91. I went to work as a captain of a small crew boat stationed in Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf. We were not allowed to go shore as we were based in Iran and seen as infidels. I would ferry the oil rig crews to the various rigs, and then the 1st Gulf war happened. I had a small Sony Walkman and that Gary Moore cassette was my main thing and it kept me happy, satisfied and sane throughout that whole year!!! Thank you Mr. Gary Moore and may you RIP with all the angels in heaven!!!!
Wow mine cassette was moonflower by Santana it kept me sane thought out long days and nights in the gulf really wish it had been GM but it was mid 80s when I was there
Never get tired of this song. Many of us have that past love we’ve been unable to completely recover from even if we’ve moved on. All those what ifs that don’t mean a thing but still haunt us
Lyrics Used to be so easy to give my heart away But I found out the hard way There's a price you have to pay I found out that love was no friend of mine I should have known time after time So long, it was so long ago But I've still got the blues for you Used to be so easy to fall in love again But I found out the hard way It's a road that leads to pain I found that love was more than just a game You're playin' to win, but you lose just the same So long, it was so long ago But I've still got the blues for you So many years since I've seen your face Here in my heart, there's an empty space Where you used to be So long, it was so long ago But I've still got the blues for you Though the days come and go There is one thing I know I've still got the blues for you
@@andrewcapper1632 very true! I think to think (lol) that when people consider the greatest its down to preferences and greats within those preferences.
My personal favourite is Joe Satriani. Being up against the stage one night and realising his eyes were closed 90% of the time whilst he played..beautiful to watch, hear and witness
I can't image how many people listen to this and it brings up some incredible happy, sad or any nostalgic memories of some kind. Sure as hell is the case with me.
As another person said, SRV is right up there as a great 🎸ist, but I’d also include Steve Vai! His totally unique and passionate style is unsurpassed imo, and IDK even what genre he’d be considered as being in - I think it’s his OWN!
He was in that special, intangible "club" with only a few members. He had something that just grabs you. The blues is played by many, but not all who play the blues are from the blues.
this version is stunning...... and i will never ever tire of listening to gary, as long as i am alive, a true god given talent, some men can stun you with there driving skills, football , drumming ,etc, gary was put here to stun us with his beautiful guitar work and by god stun us he did rip ,rwgm,1952-2011.
Vão se passar 1000 anos, e não existirá um Sollo de Guitarra igual a esse!08/12/2023 Salvador _Bahia Brasil marcou época e deixou saudades nas Gerações dos anos que se!❤
I started to listen to Gary Moore around 2 yrs ago, this is the first song I heard from him. Man I really am blessed to have heard this song, it is just so emotional and brilliant. What a pleasure to the ear and what a legend that wrote this song, no one can do these like him, he is the one and only, Gary Moore. RIP
One of the best blues song ever!!! He was also one of the best guitarists ever and I am sad that the good ones always die young! He made that guitar sing, cry and weep all at the same time! RIP Gary!
I don't know why, but I cry when I hear this, maybe because it's true to life for me ,and my god he is simply the best guitarists, rest in peace Mr Gary moore, you touched my heart ♥ so many times with your beautiful songs and guitar playing, thank you so much .
