love this!! and actually, does anyone else think this would be super for an aerobics routine. great track and good bpm. I met Gary and his wife in a shop in camden market once, he waited to see if i was buying a matching jacket and trousers that was the last one. made by spacetribe. the shop was called hexagon.
It was 1984 and Gary was up against the likes of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, at this point onwards, Gary's fortunes were in steep, steep decline.....Maybe he should have got another record deal instead of trying to do everything himself, but we'll never know, will we?
its like all the other guys in gary's band didn't get what he was trying to do. they're all dancing around like happy little 80's pricks as if they're in wham or bananarama, yet he's so sincere and so sinister. an absolute masterpiece from him
TOTP appearances usually meant a guaranteed higher chart position the following week. this TOTP appearance was odd in that the single went down afterwards. without looking it up, i think it charted at 32 then disappeared whence it came.
During berserker album he charted better with the white noise live version of afe , all the berserker singles sank without trace but afe recharted in liveversion in belgium and holland in 84 , in 85 he had his last minor hit over here with change your mind ,
Numan at this time was named " fat white grub" by the press , of course they didnt recognise he was ahead of the rest, but admit his last good tune was my breathing , after that he lost his sound , now he is just reproducing what he did earlier only less inventive
im not a big fan of gary newman (to me this is one of his best) but its great to see andy coughlan on bass - i recorded an album with him in 95 - thanks for uploading
nah, if you were to check out tin drum by japan or anything by the blue nile, then it sounds like ol` gary was doing what he did best..jumped on bandwagons and made watery versions of other peoples sound. my old girl is dead 11 months now,so i guess a guy in bad make up may have a head start. love the way you put the SIN bold in your name ....dead cool.
