I MAY have spray painted "If you were my shepherd, then I'm lost and no one can find me" on the wall of the religious rehab that kicked me out for not being able to get religion.
So, I prayed But you weren't listening. Making miracles? So, I begged But you were far away. Saving souls perhaps? So, I screamed But she was very small And you have worlds to mend So, she died And you were glorious But you were somewhere else If you are my shepherd Then I'm lost and no-one can find me If you are my saviour Then I'm dead and no-one can help me If you are my glory Then I'm sick and no-one can cure me If you light my darkness Then I'm blind and no-one can see me If you are my father Then love lies abandoned and bleeding If you are my comfort Then nightmares are real and deceiving If you are my answer Then I must have asked the wrong question I'd spit on your heaven If I could find one to believe in
I think of my own un-born when i hear this... R.I.P I have a cry and i move on. THANKYOU Mr Numan for this song and i am sorry for yours and your wife's loss.
Absolutely awesome! Seen him live 3 times [this version of him] and he just gets better and better! Great band too, incredibly talented and are seriously loyal to him! Especially Steve Harris on Guitar... we need more videos of him as well, great musician! If anyone has any of him, please share! He deserves more recognition!
+Jackal Fox I had the great good fortune to spend some time talking to Steve a couple weeks ago. Not just a great guitarist and amazing presence on stage, but a *really* nice guy, too!
I am so impressed with how Gary was able to perform this live in such an intimate audience without breaking out in tears, after what he & wife went through w/the miscarriage and all...GN is 1 of my all time heroes :-)
The KEXP performance is superior with the double reprise ending and overall production. Having said that, both are fine performances of a terrific and moving song. He is indeed, an engaging performer.
This has my most fav Numan Lyrics of everything hes done so far....... " If you are my answer Then I must have asked the wrong question " Pure genius ~~x~~
Superb. ..seen Gary and his band quite a few times. ..he's always had a unique voice and just gets better with age. .his music style over last 10 yrs is as close as it gets to perfection ..he still does the old classics like cars. Friends electric. .down in park etc and some tubeway army songs. ..but his newer style from last 15 yrs to present is how I see him at his best
The movie Bill and teds exellent adventures was based on what would happen if everyone heard gary's music...no more war no more hate.... a perfect world of peace.
vampire engel, I am a Christian, and i feel the pain in Gary's song...i know what it means to shake your fist at God and ask WHY????...there is nothing Christian about belittling anyone, and i have always loved Gary's music.....leave the hate behind, we are all equal in God's eyes....
I'm a staunchly atheist person. Your words have truly moved me. We've all experienced pain. Regardless of our beliefs, we need to share and help one another.
when I see Mr. Numan like this with this sound.....All I can think is Nine Inch Numan That being said this is about the only song by him that I have liked since the "classic" album days.
Check out one of his bigger shows from the 80's....compared to one from the last decade... It could be the same venue, same songs (more or less), but the "Show" aspect...isn't there... This involved with nearly every single concert from then...until now...no matter the genre or the artist! Gary, for example...had a million and ten props...now it's just song and then a song and then a song...sang just as eloquent...the quality by no means diminished... Why..?? Perhaps Napster has played a part...resulting in resentment towards fans...along with a deflated concert budget.. I dont know... Which do you prefer... efficient/simplistic or the colorful and elaborate..??
