The last time I saw this was on an old warped VHS tape I found in the attic years ago. This remastered version sounds so much better.

Gary Numan is legendary. He helped bring in the New Wave and Punk Rock Era. I was 9 when he did this. Today I get a full rush listening to this song.

I was a 16-year-old rock ‘n’ roll kid who discovered Numan while in England on a family vacation. Friends Electric was all over the radio over there. I was instantly mesmerized. Got back to America and cars became a huge hit. I bought and absorbed the pleasure principal like a sponge. Every single note on TPP was satisfying. The album full play was almost a hard listen only because it was so addictive and so different than anything I’d been listening to at that time. Sure it was a bit of a rock album. Those elements were there, but so hugely different. It was impossible not to listen to the entire album as a whole. In 1979 I got one ticket to see Numan live at the Tower theater. The venue held about 6000 people and was originally built as an old movie house back in the 30s. Outstanding art deco architecture inside and out. The experience was life-changing. So much so that now at 60 years old looking back at my music journey, it shaped and influenced my musical taste in ways that I wasn’t even aware. Only now I see it so clearly. To anyone that relates to this. Rock on man. It was a period of time that will never be re-created. I’m glad to have experienced it.

Saw the live vids 30 years later, and this song was much improved . For me he is a great talent , always has !

To me this takes balls to get up in front of an audience and sing Me! I Disconnect From You Gary has Asperger's as me and this song is about his poor communication skills. Yeah disconnecting in the future on a screen like which we have now but called Facetime.Such a legendary man and band! I don't care how young I am that's the Gary I love the best and his kick ass backing band he called his little nucleus!!!! Chris Payne (Moog Synths, Keys, Viola and Violin far left middle.), Rrussell Bell (Guitars, Keys and Electronic Percussion far bottom right) and Cedric Sharpley (Drums middle). But we also have his best mate and bass guitar player Paul Gardiner here on the far left bottom which died very young of a heroin overdose in 1984. When he was calling it a nucleus Paul was to be getting better to come back but he never did 🙁We also have here Billy Currite guesting from Ultravox on Moog Synths and Keyboards on upper middle right below Rruss. I cried some always that is the most inspirational man as far as one man in the music industry with a kick ass backing band also closest to me I know Gary is better now in his life. Plus so close with his current band since the 90's with some line-up changes along the way. Also he said being a family man helps now too with his wife Gemma and his 3 daughters Persia, Echo and Raven. But that Gary is the Gary Numan and band that started it all for me and they are closest to me love them always!! Such the music of the futuristic say it again this Gary and the band always closest to me forever!!!!!!

Went to the Liverpool gig of that tour. Great night. Never forgotten it.

Another superb track, the quality is crisp Kieran James thank you again. I can only begin to imagine what this would have been like back in '79 with this quality, friggen awesome.
