I met Gary Numan at a movie theater about 4 years ago. He was very nice and took a photo with me. It was a screening of Hellraiser and I asked him, "Are you excited for Hellraiser?" and he said, "I'm terrified of these films! I don't know why I'm watching this." Such a cool memory and will always appreciate him taking the time to meet a fan!

Indeed, Gary comes off as extremely humble here. It's endearing to hear him describe himself as "a weak pretender" compared to the legendary Kraftwerk. In my opinion, Gary is pretty good in his own right. One rarely comes across that level of self-effacement in the egotistical world that is showbiz.

He went through a phase where his music was heavily influenced by DM, particularly their song "Walking in My Shoes" creeping up in a couple songs. Something similar happened from his influence by NIN; in fact NIN's "Pretty Hate Machine" and "Downward Spiral" have influenced his sound ever since he heard those albums.

That describes about 70% of the population. In fact, finding a normal person without any problems at all is basically impossible. So is being mildly crazy the standard norm now? You can tell the whole thing, psychology, is a leetle beet of a scam when they wheel on a psychologist for a "murder" program and s/he very pompously delivers 'insights' into the reasons for the subject's serious mental aberration that a six year old could work out on his/her own.

What a nice guy. I’ve always loved how genuine his music comes across and now to see how genuine and personable he seems as a person is really refreshing. I’m so bummed I missed his show a few months back in MA. I hope I get another chance.

I remember rummaging through someone's record collection in a university dorm room in 1972 and finding Electric Warrior. Holy crap I was struck. To this day it still does what it did back then. So glad that's one of his picks. What a great guy.

Gary was responsible for my transition to all music electronic when I was 14. In 1979, when Cars first came out and was steadily climbing Casey Kasems Top 40 charts, I had never heard anything like it. That led to Kraftwerk, then Joy Division around the time I became a dj. But Gary was the first. Love seeing him doing so well.

Great to see you on the Tube! I've had your music in my CD rack since before my kids told me, you don't need CD's anymore dad. Well, a lot longer than that. You are up there with Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, Edgar Froise, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Kansas, Duran Duran, The Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, and on and on and on. It's great to see you working again. Thanks for all the years of great music.

OMG he did not just say that about Midge Ure!!! ...it did make me lol!!! and love the way he dissed Midge years of Ultravox without even mentioning his name!! Honesty is a trait of asperger's... shame more people don't have it! (O;

What I would do to get to Amoeba. As much as Tower Records is good in Ireland, Amoeba looks a thousand times better. When I get to L.A some day, whether it's next year, 2 years or 10 years, one of the first, if not the first place I'm going to is Amoeba.

Gary is very generous in his praise, especially to Depeche Mode, and shows real gratitude. And I like how he mentions his wife, and gives her credit. Seems like a nice bloke.
