I love this man. Have for years. Constantly reassuring his daughter. Encouraging her all the way, always protective. Amazing father, musician and writer. Always my hero
I totally agree. He so loves his family and is a wonderful artist. I remember 1980 1st time seeing him performing , you guessed it. "Cars" Keep on keepin on Gary and family.
This makes me cry to see how Persia is clearly his inspiration on that stage. God I wish more people knew of this wonderful father daughter chemistry that so many would envy. Just warms my heart to know and she sounds so good w this sound. Go Gary and Persia, so human and excellent.....
It's funny that Gary used to come across as such a cold android, aloof and anxious of the public, but he turned out to be such a warm and caring soul. Dude absolutely SHOWERS that child with love! THAT'S parenting!! =)
Autism Spectrum Disorder - the present umbrella term that covers everything from ADHD, Autism, Aspergers - appears to be prevalent with many a creative soul. The Android/ Vulcan persona tends to be a common coping affect. Absolutely precious dynamic between father & daughter
You are so right. He landed on all fours with his family intact. He never signed with the Labels because of the demands when he likes to finish his Work. It shows too. Every time I hear a new part of the song I didn’t notice before. None of his songs are rushed. I missed his tour. No car.
The man didnt like his teeth and suffered mentally. He went bust in the early days putting of massive shows. The pressure I the media dudnt assist either. Listen to wreckage
Never considered myself a Gary Numan fan, until I rediscovered his music, a couple of days ago. His incredible musicianship (especially his more recent material) and videos like this one has firmly cemented me among his fans. Awesome stuff.
Newman progression in music is amazing his last ten years are mind boggling he transforms and transforms constantly not many artist can reinvent themselves as he has. And his two most recent albums are off the charts great, inventive, and full.
I am SO waiting for Persia to get older and go into music on her own, please please. No guarantee or expectation that she would write music anything like her dad, but... the DNA is there.... ;)
Indeed; but of vital importance is the women in his life (daughter, wife) which make up this "him" you speak to. I dig where you're coming from, and I'm not into "woke" bs or feminism in the least, this is a glaring positive example of empowering (young) women, imo (Persia, in this case, to which he loves dearly, as evidenced here in this video. I noticed she was feeling a bit nervous, and her dad, Gary, helped assuage any of that, just enjoying the experience together on stage, playing for his fans. Very much top class act, no doubt! What a great role model for our younger gens!)
That was pretty amazing. Almost cried @beginning when he was hugging and kissed her head. Then again towards the end. Teary eyed the whole time. She's obviously got the talent gene from her dad.
Persia looked really scared in the beginning. I felt bad for her at first and I cant blame her, but her voice is beautiful and sounds perfect for this song. She's has talent, so confidence will come in time! It always helps to have emotional support from Gary and the crowd too😃. This is my favorite track from Strange Charm. 33 years old and still sounds fresh. Thanks for posting this!!
His daughter's have ADHD. He has helped them through alot. Him and his wife have been through so much. His encouragement has helped her so much. Persia is so telantented.
Utter utter bliss. The man is outer worldly and so is this tune. I discovered this tune the day my grandad died in 1987. I watched his breathing stop in front of my eyes then had a long sad drive home. This came on my radio and I stopped to listen. It caught me and went in deep. It's been there ever since. God bless you Gary Numan
This concept album is excellent, very haunting and evocative & atmospheric, of a post-apocalyptic world. I recommend listening to it on the best speakers or headphones you have. Worth buying, too.
Best track on Strange Charm. Persia is perfect. Love Numan displaying his adoration of her. Orchestra is awesome too. Hope that its a live dvd release.
fantastic to see this brilliant track resurrected who knew that Gary had the perfect backing singer in the family, Persia is fab. The opening synths make the hairs on the back of the neck stand up
Class song remember it back live in cardiff 80s Sounds good farther an daughter wh8 would have thought great stuff love the violin.Bit of a masterpiece this one a magical track.
Great Video and hard-working Gary! He is the first I have ever seen with Daughter on stage and makes him unique over any other band out there! What a great way to spend time with your Daughter! I would do the same if I had a daughter!
I've followed Gary since 1981. I've seen him inspired by so many things, some that lifted him high, some that didn't serve him so well. But it's clear here that he derives great inspiration from Persia, and I love seeing my old machine-rock hero now being a doting, openly-loving father, and receiving his inspiration form that wonderful relationship that a parent has with their child.
What a fantastic thing to be able to experience - to perform on stage with your daughter. Been a fan of Numan since the beginning and have 4 daughters of my own. I would so love to be able to do this. Enjoy.
His voice sounds more melodic than ever. He is a fantastic entertainer with this new imagery of apocalypse and cyberpunk. What a great opportunity for Pershia, and like Garry, she can grow to any styles of her choice.
Gary is so tender and protective towards his daughter. Love that more than the song (i'm not a great fan of the Numan's production between 1985 and 1992). Anyway the whole concert is magnificent. :))
Unpopular opinion but Strange Charm is actually one of my favourite Numan albums. I think it's criminally underrated and dismissed. Not his best by a long shot, but there are millions of albums by other artists that are nowhere near Gary's best.
First saw him when I was 18, over 40 years ago! He was pretty damn good then, but he's got so much more force now. Looking forward to seeing Persia as a performer in her own right someday.
I visited several live performances of this the last days. There was not one single negative comment to Gary, Persia or this amazing song - Out of reach...
