I think Slow Horses is brilliant. And Gary Oldman is absolute genius as Jackson Lamb. He carries it all the way, glues it all together. I cannot wait for season 3 ,and I am fussy about what tv I watch.

The Jackson lamb reminds me of an old professor at the university that could be tough , make fun of us , but still had a big heart.

Always thought Will Smith was underrated as a comedian and writer. Good to see him return to show biz with such a success

If anything, the stories are the weakness of the whole thing - or the plots, rather: the characters often get out of tricky situations in very unbelievable ways. It’s the dialogue and the cast that make it so watchable. And introducing a character by being awoken by his own fart, that’s something. Really sets the tone.

I watch this show in my hospital bed on my Iphone (here in China, for some reason, AppleTV is not blocked). I actually worry about him in this show, as I'm hopsitalzed for throat cancer, which his character is very very high risk for based on lifestyle. I hope his IRL is going well and safe and healthy. Great character, great show.

Gary Oldman is just brilliant in this. Loved him in TTSS, and Slow Horses also conveys that same undercurrent of menace. That's what makes British spy thrillers so good. Everything is mundane until it kills you.

Top of the line, in keeping with the fine tradition of laughing at the elites in Northern/ western Europe. 007 is a wild card not without his humour, but we bite hard at those above the laws..I grew up with the early 70s " the tall blond man with one black shoe". making fun of our nasty secret services is now cult.way back, it was ballsy/hilarious. a poor oddball violinist is randomly picked to be a decoy for a secret agent. French people of average education are fully aware of a large part of the underhanded plots we pulled off. "au service de la france"/ "Very secret services" from Arte the germano-french public production was (is ??) on netflix is proof.. it's a blast ! Placed in the early sixties (when the colonisation is crumbling over french heads a new sweet agent is introduced to the service).tradition..I guess president Hollande cut everyone short by saying he ordered killing hits on our terrorists. good for him As 100%leftist/green, he betrayed us enough, but not on this. he was right to kill on sight. his centrist heir tried his best rapatriating them ! WTF ? That's not right at all. tthey went abroad to kill people and now whine about rights ? And we flatter their poor families who completely failed by a slap on the wrist in french prisons. get to bring up their kids? Tthey were so successful the first time around..i don't get it. Bring me back the leftist who killed them on sight !

Very glad to see Will Smith bring some of the absurd snark and charm of Thick Of It where Oldman can ratchet it up to eleven. 3 seasons of constant surprise with a supposed spy drama tipping so many conventions over like joyriding hooligans, it feels like I'm along for the ride!🎉

A question I'd ask Gary is whether Smiley and Jackson could ever get along?
@auntisthenes2754
@auntisthenes2754 8 месяцев назад
yes, after a while. Jackson is the man who does, smiley the man who pass the salt of wicked orders. They both know the drill. jackson is a washed out operative who knows too much. it's lovely that they haven't killed him and he knows that. made a name for himself and his division. admittetly a bad name.🤣🤣🤣

Thank you Gary Oldman despite all the smoking, the swearing, the poor eating manners and the farting !! Don't know how long they can keep the series going, but do hope it'll be a long time.

It's perfect ! Slow horses is exactly what they are : losers, failures and they rest in Slough House under one ONE RULE : Do fuck all ! It's just the right cynicism to set the tone of a very British series. our young wounded stallion ( Jack Lowden) wants to gallop. The green pasture of grunt work even interns won't do under a gruff old-timer actually teaches him more about MI5 than he could fathom. But he's a delightfully slow learner..😋🥰🤣

So you say. i don't understand noodles. I understand, but how do people eat that product without being hungry ?
@johnlawrence2757
@johnlawrence2757 8 месяцев назад
@@auntisthenes2754 directors need to avoid scenes with actual eating unless they are capable of shooting them in a couple of takes. Producers need to avoid hiring directors who can’t. Public needs to avoid watching TV which paralyses the brain.
@auntisthenes2754
@auntisthenes2754 7 месяцев назад
@@johnlawrence2757 Agreed, we should be past the age of "torturing" actors because the director has a vision. If the actors want to go "method" and blow a fuse or simply indulge a bulimia fantasy in some SM relationship with their Master, no skin off my nose... Any seasoned actor likes a push but also pushes back. Or throw darts at the director during interviews.. Coming from people like Oldman, the dart instantlly feels like a dagger : " Is that guy serious ?" . make no mistake, Oldman was game ! Even when Big Money finances, and huge audience is garanteed, lead actors HAVE TO push back to preserve people on set. NCIS was a mess before Harmon put his foot down but then lasted for 20 years.. Disrespecting people in this industry is way too easy : be a little bitch in your dreamjob or go flip burgers because your skills have no value in the "real" world. While Eliza Dushku pocketted 7 millions for enduring bad jokes/attitude from the lead actor on Bull, most malcontents get fired for opening their mouth..
