His ability to time people's dribble is what is most impressive. He literally has seconds to read and react and he does it an extremely high level. Great pick up for the warriors
Looks like he's been watching film, and has been reading the other teams' plays. Also, very active hands, and isn't being hesitant on trying to reach for the ball (1.3 steals/game, 1.6 fouls/game. both career highs).
@@100briancooper respect for telling the truth, which I'm sure hurts for you... I hope they improve even though I'm not a fan, it's more hype when the Lakers and LeBron's team are good in the league.
Gotta love this kid..a son of a legend., doesn't have a big head, works hard every single game he plays..hope he can keep his motivation for his whole career..
@@FreePlay15 I think he will stay till end off career he is one off the best guard defender in the league, and very good role player maybe more,hr never got chance as starter and hr is very athletic.
Steph Curry, son of Dell Curry (good NBA player) Klay Thompson, son of Michal Thompson (good NBA Player) Gary Payton II, son of Gary Payton (super star NBA player) Golden State is an excellent home for second generation NBA players
How can you not enjoy watching warriors when they have a guy that shoots the ball anywhere the court then this guy that does impressive out of nowhere steals. Its nice to be a steph fan this year, finally he’s surrounded with new and good teammate he can rely on unlike last year.
I'd eat sleep and scat basketball if I had the chance to have my job be what I enjoyed most in life! Add 6 zeros to your bank account anyone would have the energy of a child locked in the jelly belly plant for a day!
Quick hands and uber athleticism make him a great off ball and on ball pest. He’s been a Gem for this Warriors team and his presence is always felt when he’s on the court. Would love to see them get the chip. Still remember when Gary was at at Salt Lake Community College this man has had quite the journey.
He's got the fastest hands in the NBA. Must've trained with Manny Pacquiao. Amazing how he can pick the best guards in the NBA regularly without fouling.
Gary Payton 2's defense could be the secret sauce that makes the Warriors win the Championship. One clutch defensive play can change the outcome of a game. One game can change the outcome of a series and that series can decide who wins a Championship. Warriors should give him a 5+yr contract.
checking GP2's stats in basketball-reference, his numbers are at their career highs while still on bench minutes (16.8 mp/g this season at the writing of this comment). He's been a great addition to the 2nd team, and a bargain for the Warriors, that's definitely still a title contender.
With GP2, Iggy, Draymond, and Wiggins on the wing, Looney deal with the bigs, and even Steph is not a weak spot this season, the warriors are so scary on the D.
I like the way he shades the player at times. He gets kinda sideways but force them to go to their offensive weak side. They commit anyways and he'll either pick it, grab it or bat it! "I can watch him play defense all day." - Klay
He has great hands, along with great awareness. Ive noticed he knows where to put himself, to be in great position for alot of 50/50 balls. Really hope he comes back from injury, & plays as well or better than last year. Really great guy on top of it all.
I reckon GP II should have joined the Michael Cooper School of Defense, haha. Michael Cooper's footwork and defensive mentality was off the chart during his playing days.
i used to always play like this back in high school i suck at shooting, whether it be up close to a layup, free throws or even a jumper so i decided to just focus on defense i was so good at it that it annoys people, like everybody on both teams like damn, im just tryna D up as if i wasnt playing the game right but when i see GP2 play as if it were the Finals every game, i used to see myself when i used to play back then
THIS is why the nba is missing. Somebody who plays great defense and not try to do much like 90% role players in the NBA. Active hands, anticipation and great IQ.
