Today is Gary Puckett's birthday! Here he is with an interview and live performance of "Over You" on CabaRay Nashville! www.RayStevens.om www.RayStevensCabaRay.com
Gary was so great back in his prime, that coming down a notch isn't a bad thing at all. Loved hearing this song again. When we had the band in grade school and high school, we played Young Girl and everyone just loved it. Not sure how great we were, but at least it went over big at our gigs.
GARY PUCKETT!!!!! STILL ONE OF THE HANDSOMEST GENTLEMEN AND GREATEST SINGERS ON THE PLANET!!! I'M 59 AND HE BROKE MY HEART WITH HIS SONGS BACK IN THE 70'S!!!!!
One of the greatest male vocalist ever in my honest opinion. And an absolute and complete gentleman in real life. Had the pleasure of meeting him and speaking with him extensively twice. A wonderful man.
I met him and his brother in Phoenix Arizona. He was performing at the Golden Rock Show Lounge. They stayed at my motel where I worked for a week. They got me free tickets. Once with my future ex wife. Her reaction should have been a warning sign. Later I sang Young Girl in a karaoke bar on a cruise to Ensenada and made a friend for life. Great memories. I can't sing. But I try to sing along. Awesome voice. People don't understand these days.
I remember as a boy, I would go to bed with my transistor radio under my pillow. I would listen to WLS Chicago. Young Girl or Lady Willpower would come on and I would always wake up to listen. My favorite singer back in the day.
JTB I listened to the same station in the same years. Do you recall Dick Biondi? The crazy funny DJ that was on late nights. Omg such memories. The music. It was so so much better than now. Gary Puckett was my ultimate favorite. He still is. He's gorgeous and thing that makes me the happiest is that he's humble. Not arrogant and full of himself. His smile and dimples still bring me to me mush.

He’s still got it in the coolness dept. I loved him then and i love him now. 💜 His voice has deepened and gotten richer, like Elton John’s and Joni Mitchell’s. Different, but still so beautiful.
Always gracious, kind, patient when meeting/greeting fans after his shows. Fabulous talent and voice! The best part is how he honors our veterans, servicemen and women during each show. Such compassion for those who've served and are serving. Thank you, Gary, for being part of the soundtrack of our lives!
God bless you Gary for still having your mom around. What a beautiful voice you were blessed with. I remember your music from a very young age - under 10. It always bring back memories of my childhood. Interestingly enough, now I over 60 years old, I am catching up with your music to my heart’s content on you tube.

He's 77 now in May of 2020. There is no date that I can find when this was recorded, but it is a few years ago. So he is not 77 in this clip but quite a few years younger. Still great though!
Over you is my absolute favorite song that Gary sang. It takes me back to the times I spent with my first love. Our relationship didn't work out but I loved her so much and I will never forget her even though it was forty eight years ago.
Wow! Would love to see him sometime. He seems like such a nice, sincere man. Not many of the great musicians of the 60’s or 70’s look as good or sound as good as he still does! These songs bring back so many wonderful long summer day memories.
The 3rd interview I have seen of him , he just comes through as a genuinely nice person , respectful, a guy you’d like to have a beer with. And what a great singer...

I had tears in my eyes knowing he was still alive Iam a Big cry baby and loved this group back in the day and still playing my cds in 2021… what a legend in my eyes ❤️
Of all his hits, this one's my favorite. The song was so well written, and Gary delivers. He "felt" this song man. I saw him in 1986 on the Monkees, Grass Roots, Herman's Hermits tour featuring Gary. Like most people, I was there to see the Monkees, but nobody was shutting up enough during Gary's set. Everyone was itchy to see the Monkees, and Gary had the unfortunate spot of the night to follow the Grass Roots - who were sucking the life out of the arena, they were so bad. Gary had his job cut out for him, having to rev up the crowd again.
Love him, saw him one time in person at Racinorama performance, love all his songs , memories Woman Woman ,Young girl and Over you. At 77 still looking younger.
The wife and I would go to his shows in Vegas-- terrific POWERFULL VOICE-- and what a surprise is they would encourage and have the audience join in-- absolutely AWESOME experience !
As a native of San Diego I always wondered how Gary got from Yakima to San Diego now I know he still sounds great moves well for a man nearing 80. My favorite union gap songs were all written or co written by Gary a simple man could I. And the beggar at a time when most of Gary’s contemporaries are retired or in forest lawn Gary is truly a troubadour
Hi voice has obviously not retained its original power and tone, but I agree with others that in his prime, his was one of the greats and he deserves to be ranked with David Clayton-Thomas, the superb Jay Black, and a raft of other contemporaries - Charles, Garfunkel, Humperdink, Jones, Orbison, Campbell, Ben E. King, to name a few. I find it sad that once we leave the 60's and 70's, remarkable male voices seem to be few. Thankfully, their work is here to stay.
Very underrated but remained one of my favorite singers ever, along with The Vogues in the late 60s. Been doing his songs for years, would have loved to meet Gary.

Nice to see Gary is still bringing it. I've seen him at least a dozen times in concert over the years and met him three times, great conversations, just a true gentleman. I wish him all the best, he is a great person and singer.

Got to go into Ray's recording studio somewhere around 1973 and was blown out by the sound of his MCI and JBL equipment. Loved his "Misty." Saw Gary Puckett and the Union Gap in Jacksonville, Florida, and was blown away by the band and his voice. They wore those Union army uniforms in a southern city; at one point Gary took off his jacket to reveal a US flag shirt, and the entire place went wild.
He was one of musics' great voices and had it not been for him and others like wonderful tenors like Dennis Yost of Classics IV I don't feel that our growing up years would have been anywhere as delightful and important as they were. 1968 through 1973 were wonderful years in music. I'll never forget them.
I've been to Gary Puckett fan for many years but listening to this I must admit that Gary Puckett has lost it he is still a pleasure to listen to but getting up there in age you can't compare the Gary Puckett to the 1960s and 70s❤❤❤❤❤❤
