Gary Sinise is about as authentic as you could wish for. I know a wounded warrior here in Oregon. Gary bought this warrior a house, zero charge to the veteran. Day came to give it to this hero, Gary was nowhere to be found. 2 days later Gary showed up and when asked why he ditched the house give away he, Gary simply said. I show up it's about me n Hollywood. This was never about me but about you. You're the hero here. That's a true story. Real genuine nice guy.
His band actually played at my base in Great Lakes. I respect the fact that he genuinely cares about us, he didn't just thank us, he gets vets prosthetics. God bless him.
Great Lakes is where my son took basic training in 2000, right after graduation. He was in 3rd grade when he decided, "When I'm all done with school, I'm going in the Navy so I can be a Sailor boy like daddy was!" Thank you for your service!
Active duty. And there’s almost no one out there that has done as much as Gary Sinese has for the brothers and sisters of the Armed Forces. An absolute legend.
That's so cool! Usually when I see these type of videos I wouldn't say that I'm speskeptical, but close to it, however when I read comments like yours, I can confirm that I was fortunely wrong, and it makes me so happy that a person with resoucers is being a good Christian and helping others!
Thank you sir. For everything you've given. We are all in your debt, most of us don't realize this concept. Truly its a disgrace to this country. Just know many of us contribute to help you in any way we can. Just as you've put everything on the line to help us. God Bless you sir 🙏.
My husband is retired Army, and he said that Gary is popular and loved by the military folks. I was excited when he and his band came to the base near us, and we went to go see them. He's a great guy and is truly loved.
Such a great movie. Gary Sinese has done so much for military and has fought for injured men and women in the armed forces. He's an awesome man that is using his name for the better good. 🙏❤️🙏
Glad to know that you're a fan of Gary and Forrest Gump! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. If we may ask, who is your all-time favorite actor?
His work is awesome. And it's sad he needs to do, what his own government doesn't do: care for veterans. We need to respect veterans, but be aware, that people who send soldiers to war might be crooks, like president Bush.
Gary is legit, my brother in law coordinates the building of all the vet homes for the GSF. Gary comes to all the home dedications and talks for hours with people and the families. Seems to be a genuine caring guy who displays it with action
Absolutely, we feel the same way! Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
My Brother-in-law Dennis is retired FDNY and has been fortunate enough to drive the Lt. Dan Van in NYC a couple of times! He said is was a great honor!
I enjoyed hearing about Gary’s biography and all he does to raise money for the Military Men & Women. He is a wonderful actor and is wonderful at all he does to give back. God Bless him and his Family.
Whether you agree with the Viet Nam War or not, the poor veterans suffered through it & l admire Gary so much for volunteering so much of his time, raising so much to help this long suffering group of heroes.
I met Gary & his wife years ago when I worked at Disney World in Florida. They waited at the exit of the ride while their kids kept going back on. What a truly nice guy, very down to earth. This was before 9/11. I’ve always respected everything he’s done for disabled vets.
WOW!! Thanks for tuning me up on Gary Sinise! I had no idea what a great guy he is. I ABSOLUTELY appreciate learning about him and will research out further and support his efforts. Bless you friend… and Gary.
Gary Siinese is by far my favorite actor of all time and I love all his movies. I especially loved the Lt. Dan character in ""Forest Gump" because he put so much of his feelings into the character and made Lt. Dan and his suffering as a disabled vet so real. However, I was not aware of all the philanthropic projects he was involved in--kudos to Gary for what he has done for the war veterans! Thank you for this exploration into Gary Sinese--my fav!😇❤
I did know about Gary's efforts, but didn't realize the extent. A huge salute to him and his organization. Also, his role in Steven King's "The Stand" is one of my favorites!
His comments tend to be "conservative" in nature. I'm not saying he is Republican but his comments (while true) do rub a lot of people the wrong way which ensures he is not covered for his efforts. Simply stated, the media is biased.
I agree. He is a Conservative that has not had any scandal attached to him and mainstream media just can’t promote that kind of thinking. I’m surprised he hasn’t been completely blackballed in Hollywood.
Interestingly, he doesn’t show up on FOX much, either. Apparently this is due to the fact that he refused to support or donate money to Trump’s presidential campaign. So I guess that they are just as biased, huh? I don’t object to his politics. Unlike way too many people on both sides these days, I believe it’s possible to know, be friendly with, and support people that may think differently about some things than you do. And frankly, neither party has shown NEARLY as much support for our veterans as is needed - especially those who came home with significant challenges due to their service. Support for disabled veterans should be a COMPLETELY non-partisan issue.
I can't say enough good things about what Gary has done. With that said I would like to say thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
I have heard of Gary's efforts with disabled vets. I had also heard that the Forest Gump movie was responsible for his aiding fallen soldiers. This article on RU-vid has expanded my knowledge of him and his work. Having been born near two military bases I was exposed to what war does to those that are sent to fight. We do not do enough to help those that were injured and we need to do more including mental health work. Thank you Gary Sinise for your work.
Being a veteran I learned about his support of wounded veterans early in his CSI NY role. I have been a fan ever since I found out about his assistance to wounded veterans. Ever since I visited the wounded marines from the U.S. Marine barraks in Lebanon back in 1983 at the hospital in Volgelweh Germany while I was stationed at Ramstein Air Base U.S.A.F. I have tried to support organizations helping veterans. The V.A. in many locals across America employ mostly people who are anti military and see the veterans who try and use their benefits as pariah that deplete the V.A. budget so they cannot get a pay raise or at least that is how they make veterans feel.
I'm a disabled veteran myself, and I've been well aware of Mr. Sinise's work. I think out of all the celebs that do things for veterans he is held in the highest regard.
I knew about it, vaguely, but your detailed report has brought new understanding about the overwhelmingly wonderful efforts of this single man. Than you and thanks always to Gary Sinise.
I knew. My husband and I saw the band perform, and he made sure that attention wasn't put on him. He let his band be the focal point of the entire concert. And surprisingly the base he performed at, allowed civilians to come on base and watch the performance. He's a good guy, and every person I have ever met that was military, former military and such, all have great things to say about him.
I don't think there is a Veteran in America that is not already familiar with Gary Sinise. He is a Great American and a great supporter of freedom. Thanks for sharing this. There are a great many younger people and people who have never served that can take away a lot from this man.
I really loved this movie! When I saw that scene where he had a new prosthetic leg I had tears come to my eyes. I was not aware of Gary Sinise's humanitarian work. This really makes me think even higher of him, I am thrilled that he took what he learned from making Forrest Gump and used that knowledge to make a difference in the lives of so many!
We're very happy to know that you're a fan of Forrest Gump! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
@@FactsVerse, I really am! Actually, I am a very big fan of Tom Hanks! One of my absolute favorite movies he starred in was Castaway. It is amazing to consider that for most of the movie it was a cast of just one: Tom Hanks! And yet he was able to keep my attention the whole time! And then there was Apollo 13. It was so true to what actually happened. Honestly, I think he is the greatest living actor today. And I would not count him out when comparing him to the greatest actors and actresses of all time either!
Wow, that's Amazing! I had no idea! Thanks Gary for all you do for our veterans. Keep up the good work. God live ya & God bless ALL the veterans out there. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
This is how you help those in need if you're in a position to do so. Much respect to Mr. Sinise and the good folks working with him in helping to improve someones day-to-day life. As true a statement as, "He can walk again." is, it's not quite as profound as, "He has his independance back."
It is written that a man is judged by his deeds rather than his wealth. Gary has been so busy helping people these last 40 years. I pray that Gary put a smile on Our Father’s face. Love you Gary!!❤❤❤❤❤
Yes I did. I was never able to serve even though I volunteered . But members of my family have including my father in WWII. Gary’s work is very inspiring and does a lot of good. Thanks Lt Dan!!!
I like Gary Sienese he seems like a good person and he’s for the service men and women that protect our country thanks Gary you have compassion and heart. Bless you.
I was wounded while serving in the Army in 2003. I was airlifted to Landstuhl germany. I met Gary while in the hospital there. A real stand up guy. The kind of person you think you have known your whole life after just meeting him. Gary is an amazing human and a patriotic American of the highest degree.
Forest Gump is one of my all-time favorite movies and Gary Sinise shined in his role as Lt. Dan. Though he has been busy with his acting career I'm amazed at how much he has done with his Foundation and his Lt. Dan band. He has done so much for first responders and especially veterans that I wonder when does he get the time to spend on himself. He has done so much for disabled veterans and entertaining troops on USO tours that he definitely deserves, not only the awards and honors that he has been given, but especially our thanks for his service to so many through his hard work and charities.
I've seen lieutenant Dan Band perform. They are surprisingly good and he really is doing all this to help others. Which makes Lt. Dan one of the good ones.
I knew about Gary’s band and that he played for our troops. I’m not positive but I think they went to Iraq to play for our soldiers during the war. I learned so much more about his contributions to our troops as a result of your video; I really appreciate it. My father died as a result of service when I was 12. I’ve always called him my American hero. Gary Sinise is one too!
What a wholesome story this is! I had no idea Gary Sinise was such a genuine guy and knew nothing about his work with injured vets. Thanks for letting us know with this video!
He’s also been selected as an honorary Chief Petty Officer by the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. I saw he and the band at Oshkosh EAA a few years ago. Totally awesome experience.
What’s ironic about Lieutenant Dan losing his legs is when he first appeared on screen, after Forrest and Bubba arrived in Vietnam, he told them to take care of their feet.
Gary Sinise is a shining example of what a public figure should be. No preaching divisiveness, no elitist mentality, just a man who has been successful and is doing his part to help others.
I didn't know much about Gary and so I thought this was going to go in a different direction. That's so cool that he was changed forever for the better!
Sinise's acumen was early demonstrated in productions like 'Of Mice and Men', et al. If his trajectory was diverted, it was not for lack of artistic talent. God bless him and Moire.
I love that Lt. Dan always seen honor just in death on the battlefield, and longed for it, until Forrest showed him there`s honor and joy in living too. beautiful movie.
I have been aware of Gary Sinese and his efforts and enjoyed his movies and support his efforts. As a 30+ year military veteran, I am also supremely happy that I have not required his assistance nor that of any other. I'm approaching 80 now and suspect I'll require help finding the door.
WOW!!! Never have thought he is such a nice guy. If there was just more of him. Together they will turn this sick world into a better place for those in need. May God bless you in for filing the years to come... Big respect, from Capetown South Africa.......
Yes I knew. I have three siblings who served and unfortunately they all have PTSD. Gary Sinise is a hero and I salute him, his foundation and all who served. We will never know their sacrifice as some truly gave all.
One of my many favorite scenes in Forrest Gump, was lt Dan dragging Forrest to the floor, telling him about his past, and how he was supposed to die in combat. 'Who am I now?'' Forrest says ' you still lt. Dan' it was really heart touching, because it was true
I don't see a "hero", someone who is rarefied and placed above others, I see a true role model who is a person to be emulated. In many respects (and with respect) there is much of Forrest Gumps honesty openness, care and forthright attitudes shown by Gary. Thank you
Absolutely, we feel the same way! Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Gary Sinise has an amazingly kind and big heart. Gary's commitment to supporting our nation's defenders and their families is truly inspiring, and his charitable work deserves recognition and appreciation. God bless him and may many others follow in his footsteps to lend a hand to those in need.
Always been a fan of his acting, and knew he did some things for Vets but not what you just showed here in this video thank you so much Gary God Bless you for that. Being a vet I can appreciate that but I'm one of the lucky ones with no serious injuries. just old age. God Speed. ECF
I have always been a fan of Gary Sinese not just for movies but for what he does for our vets. ❤❤He is such a wonderful advocate for veterans. Because of Gary every person I see when in uniform, military or otherwise I always thank them for their service. Thank you Gary Sinese for what you do and give yo the world especially to ur family for sharing you with our great men and women of our Armed Forces as well as ur music.
I really would like to see more stories like you did with Gary Sinese with other celebrities. It shows they are much more human and not divas bc of their status. UIt gives me insight and means more to watch people like Gary Sinese who are so more than just actors or singers ect,,,,,to watch on TV or the big scree or at a concert. I have really loved watching of Gary’s movies and CSI New York ( my most favorite) over the years. Garys portrayal of Lt. Dan on Forrest Gump really showed how talented he is and brought so much more awareness to our Veterans. ❤️❤️❤️Lived it. By telling others stars stories it would allow me and others to know what causes each support and possibly could get more supporters. I have known for a while about Garys Veterans support story and he is just ua very wonderful human being. I don’t know him, never met him. U I love what he does for our Veterans. He is the kind of person I would much rather meet than Brad Pitt or Tom Cruz. No offense to them in anyway. I just like Gary Sinese better for what he does and gives to our worlds most special peoples. Our Veterans. I have always thought highly of Gary and would much rather donate to his cause if I only knew how I could. I would give him a check myself for what I could if I have the chance to. Thank you so much for sharing all the details about the. Gary Sinese Foundation which showed much more in Gary’s special story than I actually knew. I really loved it and it makes me love and respect Gary so much more for what he gives to our Veterans.l
I have so much respect for this man. That being said, the government that send them to war should also have all of this in place already. Shouldn't be left to a private citizen, but thank God he picked up the gauntlet for these soldiers. Whether the war was justified or not, they still went .... ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The work this man does will leave ripples for generations to come. He's a great human and a good role model. Would be nice if those who sent our soldiers to fight and to die for their country cared even half as much as Mr. Sinise does about what happens to those people after their service.
Gary Sinise is one of my favorite actors and while I've never met the man, he is also someone I have great respect for. A genuinely good man. We need more like him.
@@FactsVerse It's hard to say. His role as Foster Pearse in "A Gentleman's Game" was a really good. The role that hit me the hardest was the scene with Max Martini in "Sgt. Will Gardner" - been there. He was fantastic as Lt. Dan, but I'm not a fan of that movie. They could have done so much more with that - thinking MacNamera's 100,000 here. That SOB should have been tried for war crimes for turning very low IQ young men into cannon fodder for the Vietnamese to chew on.
As a general rule the only charities I give to are my church and the Salvation Army at Christmastime, on account of how many Charities eat up 80% or more Administration fees before any money if any at all gets to the recipients. My wife and I went to see The Lieutenant Dan Band years ago in Oklahoma City and I made a donation to Gary Sinise. People need to treat veterans, especially combat veterans a heck of a lot better than they do just on a day-to-day basis. If you see a guy at your local Walmart who was a World War 2, or a Korea, or a Vietnam, or an Iraq/Afghanistan vet, take 60 seconds out of your day to say hello, shake their hand, and thank them for their service. That's all you have to do and that's all they want from us. They don't want our money. They don't want our pity. They just want a genuine thank you.
