Fun fact. On Spotify at least, Gary Willis' album "No Sweat" is incorrectly listed under "Gary Wilis." It's missing an L in his surname! But it's there.
Hey Janek. Hope all's good with you... Willis, John...and Swallow! Everybody always sleeps on him; maybe b/c he seems more like an acoustic player. But I think he's the most melodic and lyrical soloist on bass.
My fav thing about this video, besides your mouth noise when you play (my family mocks me when I practice for the same thing), is watching and listening to you learn Willis' intro. I am working on learning a line and was doing something similar with my PC, but taking too many notes at a time and struggling to find it...it was like an epiphany: "one note at a time...of course!" Thanks for the video!
Hi Janek... You were mentioning players with great melodic phrasing and tone, like Gary Willis. ALAIN CARON is a guy you should check out. His work with UZEB, and his own solo projects after the UZEB days. I think you will really like his stuff. Cheers.
