Great video but there is one thing I don't understand. Why exactly does the pO2 in the alveola remain constant at 100 mmHg even though oxygen diffuses into the blood. And why does the pO2 in the tissue remain constant at 40 mmHg even though oxygen diffuses there. Like why does it not increase ?

It is used to make amino acids, the percentage of it in the inhalation air is the same as the percentage of it in the exhalation air

This does not explain how gas exchange works exactly. It is NOT by diffusion it is not molecular. The Pulmonary surfactants are the organelles of gas exchange the surface tension theory is completely wrong as Bangham said about 30years ago.

He talked about partial pressure throughout. Gases move down their gradient. That's how the gases move across the membrane
