Modern gas furnaces have a thermal efficiency of 95% and higher. They are now so efficient that they can be vented with a plastic pipe. The power plant that I worked at for 20 years had a thermal efficiency of about 30% on a good day and the best fossil fuel plants are close to 65%. Please spare me the wind and solar I worked it for too many years. I’m simply saying that the heat pump is an option but its no where near as efficient as modern gas furnaces. No matter what the US department of energy says. Good job on the video by the way.

I will need to replace my air conditioner in the future. Should I replace my air conditioner with a heat pump?

@@pgbrandon Heat pumps are great if low temps are 40 or 50 degrees F. For me, in the southeast United States, I choose a middle of the road efficiency heat pump with propane gas secondary furnace. If natural gas is available that would be better. If you happen to live in a warmer climate no need for secondary heat source. Also keep in mind that heat pumps / air conditioners have a pretty short life, 15 years my opinion. Parts will become obsolete and the refrigerant will loose favor with the EPA. Therefore the higher end supper efficient models will never recoup the purchase cost, and don’t forget the reliability issues and higher maintenance. In the colder regions I have noticed oil tanks beside the homes. I have no knowledge of other than natural and propane gases. One other thing, especially if you live in a rural area, be sure your grounds / ground rods are in good shape. Lightning loves electronics. Hope this helps.

I agree and I have had the same experience as you. My experience shows that those in power regulate the masses as they wish regardless of common sense.

@@robertkollar1742 have two homes. One with heat pump and one with gas heat. The gas heat heats up so much nicer. I can feel the warmth from gas. Also gas is much cheaper to heat.
