So glad firefighters are starting to address the understanding of gas piping systems ,meter sets & valves. I was a first responder / gas fitter for the gas utility in St. Louis, Missouri for 35 years and in my retirement still consult for the industry when incidents happen, involving gas . You did a pretty good job of explaining the gas utility system but someone lagging on the terminologies used in my industry which would be understand, especially if your gas utility does not offer a training facility and annual training classes where are the firefighters get to work one on one with gas utility employees (there’s a lot to learn from one another). As an example , in your video you kept referring to plugged & locked valve for future use , those valves are called bypass valves, used by gasfitters to bypass the meter set in order to make repairs or changes (much like heart bypass surgery, a surgeon would use). Again, it’s great you’re addressing an area where a weakness in understanding may exist . If you ever get to STL, I am sure they ( Spire Energy & STL Fire Departments) would love to have you tour our facilities.
If there was a fire in one unit of the fourplex, wouldn't it be best to train to turn off the main value first rather than starting with the affected unit.
