As a sturgis resident I really hope you do keep it open year round. I'm so sick of all these people coming in. Opening up for 1 month a year then shutting it all down. It's getting terrible
As a local I am super happy to hear you are staying open year round! I don't always enjoy fighting the crowds during rally but I'll definitely be there in the "off" season!
I grew up in South Dakota and my grandfather had a house in Sturgis. I had my first rally experience in 1967 when visiting my grandfather. I rode to the rally the first time at 16 for the bicentennial and have been many time since. It's gotten so much bigger (and crazier) over the years. If you offer good food and beer at a reasonable price you can make money there year around.
@@jeraldtillery4817 your first rally in 1967 oh my. I married a girl from Sturgis. And move there for 4 years. For 49,50th,51,52 The last year of the real Sturgis was the 49th rally. After that every doctor and lawyers showed and such showed up Nice RV nice trailer but you don't really know what the biker life is about. Just because you ride a Harley doesn't mean you know what the rally in Sturgis is truly about. It isn't about how many people show up. It's about the people that show up and understand reality. Talk s*** spit blood. This is what America is lacking a spine and a stiff upper lip
Being a bar and restaurant consultant and 3rd generation service worker it is my dream to have an opportunity to run a facility like that. It’s something I’ve dreamed of my entire life. I trained every position in bars, nightclubs restaurants etc.. from cooks to security for 25 years. It’s the only business I know. I don’t think these folks know how blessed they actually are. 💯
Congratulations Richard on the place..I always wanted to go there but I can't afford to pay attention right now with prices so high on everything...Rent food If I pay rent I can't afford to eat I'm an almost 60....I never ask anyone for help.... Sorry for the long post everyone be blessed and have a great day
@@alexcorona the exec orders of the current admin are crushing this economy, little or no inflation 4 years ago. The Trump exec orders removed over bloated regulations from business and allowed for natural resource growth, hence lower prices for gas to groceries. If you say you are better off now, than back then, you are a liar. Richard can fly private. Why? Because he busted his tail to get where he is now! Meanwhile you piss and moan and will never get anywhere. Just another miserable mood and behavioral disordered dem..
@@alexcoronaall the inflation has happened under Biden. Who knew printing hundreds of billions of dollars out of thin air to send to Ukraine would cause the price of everything to skyrocket? 😂🤡
Well that's your problem, on the pity pot and too much of a ego to ask for help, were all out here trying to survive like the next guy including Richard nothing good or worthwhile just falls in your lap, the fact that you're 60 and haven't pulled yourself out of that mindset says it all maybe it's time to stop feeling sorry for yourself and looking for sympathy and change something
I'll tell you now, It is great to see Rich back and growing at his own pace! The car builds and quick flips are amazing and discovery free! And Him driving towards rebuilding another food establishment is great to see!
LOL Daphni seen the bathroom and wouldn't comment on what it made her think of....🤣. That was funny. Glad to see her out on an adventure with you and the team. You guys ROCK!!!!
CONGRATS, Richard. That was a fantastic Brand move for you I reckon. It's Fun times ahead. I'm always talking about going to Sturgess, so we might meet eventually, lol. I Own and Run my own Motorbike Shop 🏍 on the West Coast of Ireland 🇮🇪 😎. Best of Luck Richard. 💯👌👏👏👏👏
Love that you’re investing in the community, all-year around. I think this is what is going to get people coming to visit and drop coins here. Appreciate your mission here. Go Gas Monkey!
Some days Richard sold his advertising company to start GMG. He's been clear, his goal is not to own a garage. His goal is to become a billionaire. Gas Monkey global brand. Licencing. Signed deals last year and year before for health /beauty products in Spain. Motor oil and such in the UK. That bar and grill in Dallas didn't take off. Licensed GMG bar and grill in a couple airports.
@@cghoward70 This coming from a 2nd Gen Restaurant Op. up here in Canada. Waterton Lakes National Park North of Glacier (Montana) is open all summer long, and their expenses even the ones that own their buildings cannot keep up with expenses with all summer long Op's. a Business plan should have been drawn up with income projections from Merch and food and Bev sales. That was not mentioned! Tough road ahead!
Man I love this channel never not delivers Richard is a total legend and poor Daphne I do feel for her Lots of love and congratulations form the uk GMG !!!!
Went to GMBG in Texas years ago. It was by far the best bar I ever went to in the USA for vibe, drink, service and overall experience. Congrats Richard!
You're an amazing business-man and a true visionary Richard, God bless you my friend and I hope everything goes beautifully with your new venture, I can't wait to see how amazing it's going to turn out, you rock Richard Rawlings and "Gas Monkey Garage"!!!
I lived in Sturgis for 4 years. My in-laws and family still live there. And the knuckle is one of the only full-time bars from Sturgis except for the original ones.
*A million bucks!? That was a steal!! I would have paid 1.5 to 2 million for that property.* *You can do so much with it. It has beer license up to the streets. What a deal.*
There is a bar in Sturgis called monkey Rock. Which I personally hung all the flags all the TVs. Built the bars built a DJ booth. The owners get me on for stocking. It was the big white tent across from the other place. And understand that if you don't keep an eye on it Richard. It won't last long. Sturgis is the town of 8000. People. 10 months a year
He’s going to lose his a** on this. He’s getting conned by this guy & probably local business men/officials. When you hear them talking about “future growth” based on a culture that’s about to drastically change you know it’s a money grab. Most motorcycle companies won’t be able to survive much longer based on coming climate change laws. Only cars have had to reduce emissions which is why things like leaf blowers lawn mowers (same engines from 40 years ago) & to a lesser extent motorcycles have become bigger polluters but that’s about to change. Within the next 5 or so years they won’t be able to sell them anymore & motorcycles are about to become computerized like cars have. The companies that can’t afford to meet mandated carbon standards will close. For every gas guzzler motorcycle they build they have to make one that’s green to maintain that “neutrality”. Complete wrong time to invest in sturgis.
@@LudiCrust. I lived at the Sturgis rally for the 49th 50th 51st and 52nd. I went back in 08 and 11. I have family there the town really hasn't changed it's still on the 8 or 9000 people. Between the knuckle downtown and the other bars.
Sturgis is cool place 9 months of the year this is place is dead you will be losing money I hope this place is able to last more than 5 years I just do not see it. Sturgis is not like Vega Miami or LA were you have people visiting all year round. SD November to mid April the colder months can be pretty Miami brutal not many people doing anything. 6 to 8 years ago there was a show on True TV about that one bar concert venue just outside of Strugis it is only open during the motorcycle rally being closed the rest of the years saves them some money.
I live in South Dakota & I was right across the street 7-5-24 at the clothing store. Smart business decision, Yes, Sturgis residents don’t like short term business or the Rally in general, it will sit well with them if it’s open year round.
If I’m not mistaken Richard has tried this twice in Dallas and more times in other locations. Hoping for the best for him but if he couldn’t keep it going in Dallas then the off season in Sturgis is going to be tough.
