In this episode I install a gas pipe, show you the best way not to damage bricks when drilling and talk about some tools I'd whish I had as an apprentice, thanks for all the support as always guys
Great vid Tom as always . For gas runs on external walls do you protect it with any coating against corrosion ? I’m sure every one I’ve seen recently has nothing .. just 22m pipe clipped
No, not normally, I have done things in the past to protect external runs but this is normally to protect against vehicle damage or theft, thanks for watching
Hi can you help me I have a combo boiler and mains water 💦 supply I know how to turn the water off we had work done and water was off a while and now it driving me nuts knocking sounds from the pipes as water back on all air out the taps upstairs and downstairs but we only get knocking some times and then nothing through out the night I know it’s got nothing to do with your videos which I love by the way what can I do ! Thank you 🙏🏻
Was the system converted to a combi, I've had it before where the old hot has been capped in the airing cupboard and has airlocked when filling back up, this can cause knocking. Other things could be a loose pipe not clipped or it could even be water hammer on the stop tap. The washer may have come loose when turning off the water and it's vibrating inside the stop tap. If it's none of them you could put a shock arrestor on the cold main near the stop tap
Don’t forget to wear some eye protection when soldering mate. I never did and was well lucky not to get blinded a few years ago. One older plumber to a younger advice 😄. Nice work again mate 👊👊
I mainly fit Baxi due to the fact of the 10 year warranty, filter in the box and the fact you don't need a pump overrun, being able to rear flue is sometimes handy as well, obviously different installers will have different opinions, all boilers have good and bad bits to them, but certainly from an installer point of view and ease of servicing Baxi would be my choice if it was my house
It doesn't really suck oil lines very well, it does sort of work but it gets a bit messy, I do have a specific oil puller that vacuums the line and pulls it through with no mess
@@PlumbLikeTom Most vids on YT are made for the DIY community. If you're a trained "gas person" then you shouldn't need a video to show you how to do a job. Gas fitting is just the same as plumbing but with red tape attached.
Hello Tom, re the heat marks, I use templers flux, a quick rub over with the flux brush and wipe over with a dry cloth and hey presto, a very nice looking joint. I learn so much from your videos so please keep them coming.
Great Tom👍👍 The Silverline heavy duty 15mm/22mm compression spanner(blue one) is exactly the same spanner, but half the price of the Monument one. Also, there’s cheap wide jaw adjustable spanners available, I’ve used a Ronson one from B&M Bargains, only about 6 quid, fantastic value. But always. Buy Knipex Cobras, they’re the Dogs Bollox for grips, no equal!! Thanks mate👍👍
Another great video Tom thanks for showing us those tools. I’ve got the foldable bucket ok. Hand pump for sucking out water seems a great job must get one. Thanks again.
The hand syphon does come in really handy, I know there are battery wet vacs now but I still use it loads when changing syphons, thanks for watching as always Robert
Nice work mate, I wouldn’t worry too much about showing diyers how to convert natural gas boilers to lpg, most of your subscribers are probably gas safe and there’s a lot of big channels showing in depth gas work 👍🏼
Thanks mate, I always try to be cautious what I show especially on gas, I've seem some pretty shocking things over the years and I think with the way the economy is going more people will DIY to try and save money. Thanks for watching, the support is greatly appreciated
I like your videos because your honest,I watch lots of plumber videos and some are more concerned about having the pipes all nice and shiny, like you say it is time consuming so I assume they are more costly if they spend more hours on a job
Thanks mate, I just try to show things how they are, not everything I do is perfect but sometimes thats the reality of the job, as long as the job is safe and left neat and tidy customers are always happy, thanks for the support 😀
I do like them to be fair, I know they have their problems but overall there not that bad, at the moment none of my local suppliers can get hold of them though, thanks for watching mate 😀
@@paul_my_plumbs_uk To be honest mate the guy is just genuinely gifted, I will never give up and just try and do my best, hopefully one day I will get close to his level of talent
to be fair Iheat told me they have it in writing from worcester that they can now have the 2000 run outside without condensure. great videos though mate
@@AlexRocks24-7 Sorry about that mate, I'm going to try and make it next year, its something that I've always wanted to go to, but never found enough time. I hope you had a great time anyway and met some of the other fantastic content creators
Not going to show too much? WHAT?WHY? You can watch F1/Rallying and all sorts on YT and people know not to do it, or even if they do It's not down to you. And yes you need a license to drive like you do to work with gas. Get a grip man and stop being a snowflake.
Your probably right mate, I've just seen some dodgy stuff especially when it comes to DIY LPG conversions over the years, I'm sorry if this video wasn't as good as it might have been, thanks for watching anyway
