A billion hugs and kisses an respect for not hiding your emotions after finishing "scarbo". We love you for just being yourself! Go ahead and never change your attitudes because they are true, natural and part of our lives.
She is crying because at the end of the piece she paused, probably struggling to control her tremor, see 24:28’s right hand tremor. If I put in such a performance, then saw the sign of my future MS, I’d cry too.
How strange is this comment?! She cries because, this was an absolute perfect performance, from HER point of view. (and from mine...) With total pianistic precision and control, combined with deep emotional projection of this fantastic work (Ravel's music).
@@orjanbark4261 Regardless of personal opinions on this interpretation, she had a cramp in his right arm, luckily at the very end. As she said in an interview, it sometimes happened; she once she was forced to stop. I don't know the date of this concert, so I don't know if she already knew the cause of the cramps.
Dear Alice, dear "PIANIST ???" You already dress for a fashion magazine "VOGUE"! When will you get naked for "PLAYBOY"? Alice Sara Ott - Show & PR industry, money making machine! The Telegraph 29 Mar. 2015 By Anna van Praagh ..."Alice Sara Ott gets a lot of attention for her looks and her quirks - but it is her unique musical personality that will keep her at the top ... She looks like a supermodel, often takes the stage in a ball gown and bare feet and, she tells me, has a great fondness for neat scotch. ... “The world of classical music is a very hard world and the people who survive are just a few. One minute you are very popular, four years later no one has heard of you. It could all be over tomorrow. That’s what I want to avoid. I want to be around in 20 or 30 years, doing what I love, I don’t want to be a shooting star.” ... With her elfin features, porcelain skin and jet black hair, she is breathtakingly beautiful, and not averse to posing for photo-shoots highlighting that beauty. Does she feel under pressure as a female artist to exploit her sex appeal? ... “I know where my limits are,” she says crisply. “If I do a photo-shoot I must feel comfortable. I know what I will do and I know what I won’t do.” ... She believes that the classical music world is far more egalitarian than it once was. ... Are her love of whisky (she favours Talisker, Laphroaig and Lagavulin ), her habit of warming up her hands before a concert by solving the Rubik’s cube (she can complete it within a minute), and her trademark bare feet simply ways of making sure she stands out in a crowded market? No, nothing so calculated she says. ... “There’s no commercial reason for performing in bare feet. It makes me comfortable and it gets hot under the spotlight so it’s nice to feel the cold pedals on my feet.” ... The Rubik’s cube is practical and the whisky - well, she just happens to like single malts. ... However, such quirks do help make her more - dread word - “accessible” to audiences that might not normally be attracted to classical music and that is something about which she is passionate. ... “I want to remove the notion that classical music is just something for rich educated people,” she says. “It’s not. You don’t have to be educated to enjoy classical music, you get educated by listening to it.” ... “That’s why for me it is so important to be a really good musician rather than someone who just looks good on stage,” she muses, “Because then I am replaceable. If I have a unique musical personality, I hope that people will wait for me.”
New entry for psychological journals, the 'Disarli Syndrome'; feeling a need to trash patients with Multiple Sclerosis online, non-stop, dozens of times per thread.
It was a controlled performance. Like Lang lang who wants to control everything .. this is not the definition of Horowitz, for Art. You should mix 3 things together.
Alice Sara Ott leaves me simply speechless here. This performance would have been celebrated by Ravel himself. I don't believe anyone else will manage its profundity.
.....and I guess Alice Sara Ott loves the performance of Ivo Pogorelich when he was young and became famous. It doesn't sound like a copy but moreover it sounds familiar . Great performance!
For Scarbo i prefer Pogorelich. I don't know why she gives pedal to the scales at the end, Ivo Pogorelich don't, so that it reminds the Erlen König von Schubert.
No, multiple sclerosis is not painful. It causes progressive neurological deficits either in sensitivity or in mobility. Therefore for MS patients usually became progressively more difficult to coordinate movement with the desired precision, and is obviously a lot troublesome for a musician. Probably she cried because she know her disease will progressively advance until she won't be anymore able to perform at high levels and she will have to stop playing the piano in pubblic perfomances which is her life.... very very sad....
@Konstantin Ridaya I’m with you Konstantinos, she connects deeply with the music, and her emotions are up front and there for us all to see. We can’t really know for sure anything like that but it’s foolhardy to read specifics into what was captured there at the end of this piece. Her performance of Beethoven’s third piano concerto with Orchestra Tadio France is brilliant and again, throughout the piece her joy in the music is upfront and there for all to witness and share. While one could speculate that knowing that her career will be cut short by her disease has allowed her to live more fully and openly celebrate her virtuosity and artistic gifts now while she can still command them, but unless there is an interview where she addresses this topic specifically, speculation in RU-vid comments is a fairly pointless exercise. One of my favorite pianists, and a piece of music I was not familiar with. It’s enough for me to be gobsmacked by Alice and Ravel both. I think Ravel would have been deeply satisfied that his composition would bring such an artist to tears
I don't think anyone, even Argerich, Michelangeli or the young Pogolerich, is on par with Benjamin Grosvenor in this piece. He's set the new standard as far as I can see.
Thanks for the commercial; I admire Ben too, but one must always try not to overpraise to the detriment of others here on the Tubes. It's a disease here. There are SO many great Ravel pianists; no new standard is necessary. Alice plays it very well. And, just heard Grosvenor at his Barbican concert and have to agree with the one reviewer who said: "Gaspard certainly dazzled too - Grosvenor made light of the extreme technical challenges, but the dark recesses of the three pieces were generally avoided, especially in the final Scarbo, which is a much more threatening piece than he suggested."
Hi mr Olofsson (= Alice Sara Ott)! You are a wretched, insignificant worm defeated by truth! < Staffan Olofsson Staffan Olofsson vor 13 Stunden Thank you, Vito Lin for taking this Mario DiSarli out of the game. We (I?) had one enemy, and it was DiSarli. Always negative, always complaining, always a misogynist. Now we can really enjoy Alice Sara Otts playing.>
Staffan Olofsson Staffan Olofsson vor 1 Woche Yes, I admit, I was the bait, and every time I expected DiSarli/Cancan to attack me he did it. As expected. But it is not a very nice way to treat Alice Sara, I am sorry for that. I have respect and admiration for her music, but I also can see that this man does everything he can to put her down. For some peculiar reason. And therefore I wrote about the Satie pieces, one after the other, and DiSarli had this bad taste to answer me every time. With many, many words sometimes. But I must also say that I love this music, from Debussy, Satie and Ravel, and till the end, also Ravel. Long live Alice Sara Ott! 1 Mario DiSarli Mario DiSarli vor 6 Tagen (bearbeitet) "For some peculiar reason." Do you know that in Germany and in Europe there are dozens of magnificent, talented pianists ?! But the concert sphere is controlled by mafia structures and the road to the stage is closed for these pianists. Talent does not play any role here. The main thing is money! "Girls" brings money! Naked body and the more naked body, the higher the success! Therefore, on the stage we see Yuya Wang, Khatia Buniatishvili, Lola Astanov, Alice Sarah Ott with bare feet, ...! We all must finally say: Enough, enough! Separate two things - a concert hall and a brothel! If you can! Mario DiSarli Mario DiSarli vor 6 Tagen (bearbeitet) "For some peculiar reason."?! Dear Staffan Olofsson (=Alice Sara Ott), vulgar and attractive clowns were always, but time turns them into dust and they disappear without a trace! This "girl" fell into the hands of immoral, calculated businessmen. The goal of these dealers is: from her youth and prettiness (since she does not possess a special pianistic talent) to squeeze as much as possible. These countless interviews and videos of her where she plays the role of a child (virgin) with toys from the children's room, appearing on the stage with bare feet, are a well-developed PR strategy. A strategy designed to achieve sentimental feelings in a bored public. I sincerely feel sorry for her, because the story shows the following: who takes off very quickly and high, he falls very painfully! Money, money, money, ...!!! PR industry and the pursuit of fame and money destroyed the health and life of many "Stars"! Alcoholism, drug addiction, depression and crowds of crazy fans are their life!
Michael, DiSarli has the soul of a serpent, as soon as it was announced Miss Ott was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, he doubled his trashing of her.
Mario, also known as Georges Cancan. You seems to believe that Alice Sara Ott and Karl Peter and Staffan Olofsson are all Alice Sara Ott. I can assure you that I am not Alice Sara Ott. If your thoughts are right then all of your antagonists can be Alice Sara Ott. Have you concidered that? That Alice takes all of our names to support herself? Because she wants so much to be i the center of everything and debate with you?. I dont think Alice gives a shit of what we are writing on this forgotten channel. So therefore I once asked if you had a good doctor. Your thoughts seems to be something for a psychologist with interest in paranoia. I wish the best for you and hope that you will recover from your mental disease. And learn: I am not Alice!!!
Why this hate? I have often wondered. It seems to be from the bottom of your heart. Now I see you are a right-wing, then I understand a little more. But to make Alice-Sara and Greta sisters was a tactical mistake from you. Alice Sara (only money you say) and Greta, can never be compared. Two different enemies in front of you, one to the right one to the left. Who will you take aim at? You see, your world has a lot of enemies, but they are all created by people like you. And that you call me a sentimenal old man I appreciate, because that is what I am. Liking Argerich, Abbado and many other letters.
