Great question I would think it would be fine but I highly doubt that is acceptable

Where is promised "Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST)" in this clip?

@ Nancoman - Because it is not an NEC issue...its a IRC and IGCC issue.

Its actually a IFGC issue section 300 Electrical Bonding. BTW as stated above there are some that using a term of bonding and grounding and yes definition wise there is a difference with the same results IFGC does not make a difference they refer to Bonding and Grounding as the same so lets don't get too hung up on definitions just understand you can not ground or bond if you are bonding to is insulated from ground.

The CSST gas line is there, you just don't see it, it needs to be bonded in front of the 1st CSST joint out at the gas meter like they did it! Good job! The CSST gas line is in the house and this was properly bonded, it can be bonded in the basement as long as it is in front of the 1st CSST joint.

Misleading title, no corrugated stainless steel tubing in this video.

So where is the rest of your video? There is no CSST bonding even shown in this video!

0:42 Why does he insert 8-12 inches of wire thru the clamp? In the next step he turns that excess into waste!

So what happens when the lightning hits the other end of the run of CSST?

Nope. This is not sufficient to bond CSST. It's fine for bonding a standard gas (pipe only) service though. The CSST MUST be bonded AS CLOSE TO the CSST as possible (read the instructions for once guys!!!); preferably on the first CSST nut. The issue is an arc from the CSST to anything that is nearby and grounded (or bonded) for example, a parallel water pipe. Therefore the bonding must be done in such a way that there is no question that the charge will run through the #6 wire and not arc to a closer ground. I would bond all the (house-side) gas pipes in a multi unit building ...if any of the gas meters are removed, the gas company wants to know that each gas line is bonded. They also want to know that if they remove the gas meter, that the electrical system is not is not conducting electricity due to a bad service neutral to the power company. This is also the difference between bonding and grounding; we are bonding the gas system, not grounding it. Is #6 wire enough? I don't actually know, but for a lightning strike I kinda doubt it...certainly should be more than enough for a short from an electric oven or dryer though...

SwingboyPA ***Found this: The bonding clamp attachment point may be at any location within the gas piping system. However, the shortest practical bonding wire length will improve the effectiveness of the direct-bond. The corrugated stainless steel tubing portion of the gas piping system shall not be used as the point of attachment of the bonding clamp under any circumstances. ***Seems like bonding close to the electrical panel box, may be preferred, to keep the bonding wire length shorter, as long as it’s before the CSST. ***Also: Manufactures of black jacketed CSST products which have been tested and listed to ICC-ES LC 1024, “CSST Utilizing a Protective Jacket”, may not require or include in their instructions the additional direct-bonding step that is required with standard (yellow) CSST products. However local codes may be more restrictive and may differ from manufacturer’s requirements. Local codes take precedence and must be adhered to. ***Lastly - Found this: The bond connection to the gas tubing should be accessible and just downstream of the meter, near the service entrance into the house
