@@pauljensen5699 Perhaps, but if you show this footage to random people they will all blame Evergreen rather than the rail company because they see their logo :D So bad PR for Evergreen in either case.
Can't see what kind of switch it was, but remote operated power switches are supposed to be fail safe. Loose points should have put it on the ground at the switch, so ... someone threw the switch under the car, or a spring switch got tripped back to default, if that's possible (can't remember the full details on those).
THATS CP "N" YARD ,COAL HARBOUR, i know this place well, i helped rebuild it in the 90s for the west coast express , cummuter train and we rehabbed the yard ,they load the train ferry there
" and now I have a day of listening to this ..." HAHAHA! Nice video all the same. Nice to see that real-life railways also emply the model railroaders "hand of God" when rerailing stock
When I tapped in to watch this at first I thought it was model trains in HO SCALE.....But This is the real deal! 😱 Incredible footage as you watch this aftermath in time speed photography! Sorry to see this glad it wasn't severely serious! It amazes me as a lover & modeler of trains i have seen this happen on my own trackage in HO! It's no doubt the yard track it didn't or wasn't In proper position. Very good video.
So what? They were carrying those containers, they are all over the world, its a shipping company. That is like saying if they were carrying Pampers diapers that Pampers caused the accident.
6:16 I did a double take as I thought I was starting to black out - random green screen chroma key? 8:16 ha a little set of LED lights spring to life in your office? Fantastic clear footage, well done and excellent choice of playback speed to keep it interesting without losing detail. Cheers!
The engineer: we are slowing down. Train: sideways Engineer:we are stopped Train im off and stopping you Engineer:keeps pulling Train:just stop Engineer: stops
Looks like only the last few cars were affected, so either a problem with the wheels on the first car that is sideways or someone switched the lines back too soon, catching in off side the last few cars
@@bryanlarocque7627 0:56 no red trucks across roadway. 1:14 red trucks parked across road. Two cranes at the waiting to cross the road. you are correct.

@@davidanalyst671 you made a Canadian-ish, anti-American comment. Don't know why they're so anti-American, but it dates back to the GWB days, and they almost ALL feel the same way.
At 4:17 in the background there is a white SUV parking in the street he gets out then go greet and other person and they walk to the right in the park a few moment later an other person coming from the left Steals the SUV and leave lol lol
Switches not working properly or not secured, train backs over them, they switch the other way. So when you stop on the switch half of your train is lined for the other track and the other half stays on the original
Nobody was walking alongside the end of the cut of container well cars to ensure that it didn't skip a switch. And they call this efficiency, where's the efficiency in having someone stop the locomotive from shoving back the minute the derailment starts to happen? Said nobody at CN ever!
@@pauljensen5699 Instead of actually watching the cars and the wheels to ensure they actually go where they're supposed to be going. I've been around railroad operations where I live, and they immediately knew when something was going wrong. They're watching several thousand tons of metal, why wouldn't it be in their best interests to watch over the train?
@@DarkVoidIII true but the railroads are cutting workers left and right over the past couple years due to precision scheduled railroading... and even before then companies have reduced worker numbers by operating remote controlled locos so yea having more workers would be nice however the railroads like cutting the workforce, not increasing it
I guess he ran out of guts while he was attempting to do a multi track drifting of his own. Others usually do it with the locomotives, but he decided to do it with the consist instead!
No quisiera trabajar en el Departamento de Quejas y Reclamaciones ni en el de Atención al Cliente en Evergreen. Deben estar desbordados... allí donde van la lían parda
This is just another symptom of a poorly run railway. I'm from the UK and have been to Vancouver, quite a few times and the condition of the rail tracks is appalling, with 6 inches + of rail movement quite regular. My Sister lives not far from White Rock and the lines that come in from the US are just awful. If they were like that in the UK, the line would be shut down. The CP and CN lines, that run up the Fraser valley are little better, as is the line that runs up along Howe Sound.
The big difference is that Canada, hell, BC alone, is much bigger that the UK, has mountains to negotiate that make Ben Nevis look like a wee hill, and has 4,000 miles of mainline track from sea to shining sea, and ships tonnage that would make English locos blow a gasket. On two major railways! Maintaining that much trackage to the level it should be is a phenomenal challenge, and I doubt a Brit crew running it would have much better luck. Not an excuse, but a reason.
Condition is perfectly fine when line speeds are 60 MPH, in an isolated area, and sees minimal passenger traffic. Canada and the US are a whole lot bigger than Oregon.
Aye, British Rail would shut down the line. The distance from Falmouth to Thurso is less than Vancouver to Calgary with a lot more people in between to maintain and pay for it.
🤔🤫 where have I seen that name before ? 😏😉😉😜. Ha Ha Ha Evergreen sideways again my thoughts exactly... The canal wasn't enough now the rail just love to hold back shipping 🥴🤪👁️
LOL... that's what i was thinking... engrs have to watch their amp meter even when going at low yard speeds... an increase could mean trouble behind you... however on the flipside, these new locos crank out so much more tractive effort and horsepower that i wonder if this mishap would have even registered on the amp meter of a new high horsepower loco
