Lesson on Gastrulation and the Formation of the 3 Germ Layers known as the Ectoderm, Mesoderm and Endoderm. Gastrulation is a process whereby a bilaminar disc (comprising the epiblast and hypoblast cells) gets transformed into a trilaminar disc (comprising the germ layers of ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm). Gastrulation is responsible for forming the 3 germ layers including the ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm.
After the egg is fertilized by a sperm, the resulting zygote will eventually develop into a blastocyst, which contains an inner cell mass that will become the embryo. The outer cells on the blastocyst are known as trophoblasts, which differentiate into syncytial trophoblasts and cytotrophoblasts. The syncytial trophoblasts will invade the endometrium of the uterus and implant the blastocyst. The blastocyst will eventually become embedded into the endometrium. The inner cell mass of the blastocyst will differentiate into epiblast and hypoblast cells, forming the bilaminar disc. The process of gastrulation transforms this bilaminar disc into a trilaminar disc comprised of the 3 germ layers.

Endoderm does not entirely form from the hypoblast, it is derived from mesendoderm an intermediate tissue that has the potential to differentiate into mesoderm or endoderm depending on inductive signals it receives. You can find some hypoblast (visceral endodoerm) cells in the definitive endoderm but most of these cells are derived from the ingress of epiblast cells.

The blastocyst will leave the zona pellucida, or membrane, of the egg cell before implanting itself inside the uterus. The zona pellucida is a thick, jelly-like layer that surrounds the egg cell and helps to protect it. Once the blastocyst has developed to a certain point, it will hatch out of the zona pellucida and begin the process of implantation in the uterus. The process of implantation involves the gradual penetration of the endometrial lining by the blastocyst, and the establishment of a connection between the blastocyst and the endometrial blood vessels. This connection is essential for the nourishment of the growing embryo.

Good video, but slightly incorrect. The endoderm is not derived from the hypoblast. Rather, the endoderm is derived from epiblast cells that displace the hypoblast.

Spoken to the 12-year-old future physician: You are rare but perhaps always always remember this: you may and should question all things, through both heart and mind. You are not an unnatural hospital system of rules and regulations. You are a natural person like every other natural being on our living mother planet, be them homeless, rich, poor, handicapped, ignorant, loving, spiteful, or poor. If you go down your honorable path, never ever forget this: Do to an other what you'd have done to yourself. Listen, however doubtful or tired you may be. Listen and think as if you yourself are your patient. And for fun, ask why a patient has been called "patient" while doctors practice on each.❤❤

Kindly correct your explanation. All the germ layers are formed by Epiblast only. Hypoblast doesn’t contribute to the formation of endoderm.

In the Holy Quran, God speaks about the stages of man’s embryonic development: We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)... 1 (Quran, 23:12-14) Literally, the Arabic word alaqah has three meanings: (1) leech, (2) suspended thing, and (3) blood clot. In comparing a leech to an embryo in the alaqah stage, we find similarity between the two2 as we can see in figure 1. Also, the embryo at this stage obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to the leech, which feeds on the blood of others.3 The second meaning of the word alaqah is “suspended thing.” This is what we can see in figures 2 and 3, the suspension of the embryo, during the alaqah stage, in the womb of the mother. The third meaning of the word alaqah is “blood clot.” We find that the external appearance of the embryo and its sacs during the alaqah stage is similar to that of a blood clot. This is due to the presence of relatively large amounts of blood present in the embryo during this stage4 (see figure 4). Also during this stage, the blood in the embryo does not circulate until the end of the third week.5 Thus, the embryo at this stage is like a clot of blood. So the three meanings of the word alaqah correspond accurately to the descriptions of the embryo at the alaqah stage. The next stage mentioned in the verse is the mudghah stage. The Arabic word mudghah means “chewed substance.” If one were to take a piece of gum and chew it in his or her mouth and then compare it with an embryo at the mudghah stage, we would conclude that the embryo at the mudghah stage acquires the appearance of a chewed substance. This is because of the somites at the back of the embryo that “somewhat resemble teethmarks in a chewed substance. You can see all the pictures compared to to original text if you google it. Highly watch professor Keith Moore. Please if your interested more watch Keith Leon Moore was a professor in the division of anatomy, he explains everything in details
