This was my 100th coaster. I rode it on its opening day, and I waited 3 hours to ride it. I thought it was very good, and it is a lot better than the wing coaster, "X Flight", at Six Flags Great America
+Boesball Really? I personally think it is very force less and not intense. My top five wing coasters 1. The Swarm 2.Flight of the Demon 3.Gate Keeper 4. X Flight 5. Wild Eagle
THEME PARK ATTRACTION No, the trains on Gate Keeper don't really power through the inversions but instead gracefully goes through them which is nice I guess, but being a high intensity lover like myself, I found it to be very weak. A great ride, but weak.
+Jude Demo I don't think either X-flight or Gatekeeper are that intense, but X-flight is completely forceless, and I thought the opening inversion sequence and a couple other maneuvers on Gatekeeper had some intensity.
I personally prefer the vest harnesses on these to traditional OTSRs. They weren’t tight on my chest and they eliminate head banging completely. And as mild as the forces are on this (I thought the dive loop was actually pretty intense), it doesn’t need to be when Maverick and Steel Vengeance are in the same park
For those on the Facebook page, 1:12 to 1:24 went down as the worst ending in coaster history! They don't even bother to add a corkscrew! I also tried to ride this on Memorial Day in 2013, the line never moved due to the sheer number of Fast Lane holders in the Fast Lane. Ended up buying a fast lane just to ride it. Gatekeeper is my 4th favorite coaster at CP. (Behind Raptor, Maverick, and Millennium Force) And yes, I have not ridden TTD... I need to get on it...
Why does it have so much clicking and people ask why didn't they put a vertical loop instead of an airtime hill it's because the loop wouldn't look great and the airtime hill fits the best and also people ask why a hellos and break run well that's because the coaster is going to fas for it to go into the breaks so the added a break run but then it was to slow to do a corkscrew and any other inversion so they did it like it is but it is still a great fun and smooth ride
braden white There are just...so many better coasters...like Millennium Force, or Maverick, or Top Thrill Dragster, or Raptor, or Rougarou, or even Wicked Twister possibly
One of the world's most pointless air time hills. Not one of my favorite roller coasters at CP I think Thunderbird is much better. Gatekeeper is actually my least fav wing coaster. Maybe more parks should follow HW's lead and have shorter trains so they can design a more forceful ride. Love the color scheme tho
