Audio Impairment Notes:
The audio was recorded on a cassette recorder separate from filming. Because of age the tape material is compromised. The issue with sync is because of temperature variables, high humidity, and the presence of corrosive elements in the air all affect the physical components that make up magnetic tape and can result in loss of readable data through decreased magnetic capability and deterioration of the binder or backing of the tape over the span of fifty years.
Adobe Tech states: The tape gets stretched. When that happens, the overall timing of the video signal gets out of sync. The electronic signals are farther apart than they should be, kind of like markings on a stretched a rubber band. A slight speed inconsistency, stretched over a long duration, will cause a severe syncing issue.
