Great review, I am a huge believer in sources, thanks to you TDM. Anyone that doesn’t hasn’t tried many sources imho. I’m afraid that 8k peak would kill me unfortunately. Keep up the fantastic content…I learn something new with each upload..!
I knew you would have fun with this one and interesting to hear your conclusions. I lucked out I think with my one DAC as the midrange captivated me and I could drive the Todi to levels that would be dangerous on other iems. Special sauce indeed. Very sad to pass this one back to its owner.
Very nice 👌 Lower output impedance sources seem to work better but synergy goes along way. Great to hear your experience was a fun one as well David. Thanks for sharing 👍
Source rolling! I have found a world beyond graph sniffing where driver type, quality and crossover implementation rules supreme. If you get a chance pick up a used Cayin C9 as the new model just came out and rich audiophiles will be dumping the old to get the new. You could for example connect the Ibasso DC Elite power out to pre amp in on the C9. This eliminates double amping and the volume on the Elite serves as the overall volume. This is equalivent to an Ibasso DX 320 max or Cayin N8II. I use the Cayin Ru6 and IFI Gryphon in the same manor for Mac Daddy set ups. You N3 ultra the same but line out so that you use the discrete amplifier circuit on the C9.
I have my eye on the Arpegear Hane, it looks very interesting and has a line close to the Moondrop Kadenz and more tunings costing less, it looks promising.
