Aim for the cheapest of them boxes of thermally unstable blocks I'd say. Still though, recommend zirconia ceramic if the term stable 'precision' means anything of value to anyone...

price is crazy .. but they don't wear or corrode .. If handled and maintained properly standard gauge block will last 50+ years without rust or corrosion

All well and good, but zero mention of temperature! Guage-blocks are ONLY certified at a single temperature, usually 25C. Any variation away from that, and they are NOT accurate.

Do you know what is missing in this video? Giveaway! 🙂 Still want to have metric set in my home shop even if I don't have much use of it. I just love tools... probably too much - I have mini lathe and mini mill that I converted into CNC 🙂

And we are in fact proud to sell these high quality gauge blocks since they are made from 63 HRC hard steel and precision ground to the ASME B89 standard. It's Spelled "gage" not "gauge"....

I agree (or would like to at least). Looking back at all of the references to Gage Pins and Gage Blocks from many decades ago, there seemed to be a difference in the machining world between a Simple Gage, a standard with few or no moving parts, and a more complex Gauge like a dial gauge or indicator. Modern dictionaries and websites disagree with us though, and call everything a gauge. I’ve given in to the spell checker on my computer, for now. Someday I’ll write a book though, “Gage vs Gauge!” Great comment.

touching gauge blocks without gloves is always the worst idea .. When using them for meassuring stuff you should never do it without a holder becuse of thermal expansion ..

К СССР эти меры не имеют никакого отношения. Сделаны в Китае, продаются американской фирмой. А изобретены были шведским механиком Карлом Эдвардом Йоханссоном.
