This one hits hard. I've seen Gavin Creel in pretty much everything he's done. Met him several times. And he was one of the good ones...one of the kind ones. One who was as giving as he was talented.
A lot is going to be posted about his performances (rightfully so). But he also was an activist who raised a lot of money and awareness for a variety of causes. He was a co-founder of Broadway Impact, a grassroots organization to mobilize the nationwide theater community in support of marriage equality.
Here he is giving a speech as part of "Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert - A Celebrity Benefit for Equal Rights" which was held on February 23, 2009 at the Gershwin Theater (home of "Wicked"). After which he and the cast of the soon-to-open Broadway revival of "Hair" performed "The Flesh Failures/Let The Sunshine In"
