Congratulations, Gavin! He just won the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for best actor in a musical in London. He won for his portrayal of Elder Price in "The Book of Mormon" at the West End Theatre. The University of Michigan theatre program celebrates your great achievement.
Wow, that last note. I feared for his safety after that one. This young man is so gifted and great for him that he followed the call to share it. Bravissimo ragazzo. La tua voce é favalosa. Buona fortuna.
Right now he's in the natl. tour of BOM, (Book of Mormon) but he was in the original Bway cast of Thoroughly Modern Millie as Jimmy, and he was nominated for a Tony for that and his performance in the Tony-winning revival of Hair as Claude. Such an amazing person!
Okay just found out he's going to be starring in The Book of Mormon tour so I decided to come here and see what he can do and after listening to this, I'm very excited to see him.
@TobyHine wait you dont mean like pre recorded right, cause theres a guy right behind him playing it on keyboard. it does sound like a crappy electric keyboard though.
I agree. As a performer myself, this is a difficult song. Gavin and I have quite similar voices, and watching this video really made apparant the way I sing this song.
So, It's decided. There will be another revival of WSS, and Gavin will be Tony. I've always been a Larry Kert purist, but I would pay good money to see Gavin play this role.
oh man,,,i saw gavin 3 times in MIllie,,love him so..however..as a performer this is clearly one of those FUN songs we sing how we like...its a hard piece more for a lyric or spinto tenor,,again, unsuitable material for this fine singer.we love you GAVIN stick to pop musicals !!!!
He is great, but a bit too reliant on vibrato in this song. I feel it was written in a style that calls for straight tone on many sustained notes. Not a fan of the full voice last note either... just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
