SBF is definitely the "FDL-3 Replacement". It's at a very fair price for a brushless blaster and has a ton of great features. Momentum is in its own category to lean towards more of the competitive side. That being said, SBF is still in Beta and I have seen SBFs break down on 4 different occasions. One faulty solenoid and 3 burned out boards. Amazing blaster but still waiting for official release.
Very cool, if anyone buys one DO NOT paint it black, it is almost identical to the real steel CZ Scorpion EVO, a 9mm carbine. So if not brightly colored it could cause problems in public. Edit: Posted before Xavier stated that people were saying it looks like the EVo lol, my bad, but yes, nearly identical.
Such a cool form factor. Love Gavinfuzzys designs. Can't wait for the proper release of the SBF. I like the Momentum's control and display group a little better for its simplicity but the screen is so cool. 🤙
He has very cool designs, but aside from the mag well this is not his design form factor wise, it is basically a real steel CZ Scorpion EVO 9mm carbine, which there are 3d print files existing for real steel 3d firearm printing. Still very cool and i hope he isn't taking credit for the cosmetic design, even the stock is the same as CZ's Edit: Posted before Xavier said it, lol my bad.
Worth noting, purely in my own experience, I’ve found that it’s much more accurate and consistent at 75%. FPS starts to plateau after that and I think the additional slippage may contribute to inconsistency. Not sure about your experience, but figured it worth mentioning.
This looks awesome. I don’t really see anything I don’t like. Has virtually every feature I could want. Everything looks very comfortable especially that mag release. Short dart mag release seem to tend to be in awkward locations that are only suitable for certain methods. This one looks perfect for however you choose and whichever hand. Love the stock too. Always a fan of folding stocks. Fantastic performance and surprisingly accurate. That was something I noticed right away in the firing demo. So many great blasters coming out now between independents and major companies. Can’t wait to see a comparison between this and the Omnia when they’re officially released. Exciting time for foam flinging.
@@frozenfade yea. Seemed like it was a little softer than some of the top tier competitors. But not too much. Kind of on par with the nexus. Not the absolute peak of power but still much higher than the average blaster. seemed like it was a fair trade off with the accuracy being so good though and it still covered a good distance. I wonder if some modding could improve the FPS. I’m sure some different motors and such could be experimented with but I wonder if it had a separate switch to allow you to rev the fly wheels without firing darts. Perhaps you could get higher fps atleast in semi auto if you could rev the fly wheels up before firing? Don’t know how quick these can hit full speed but with it being so fast seems like there is room for the possibility of them not hitting full speed before a dart goes through.
@@pastiesandagstring you can adjust a firing delay so that the motors rev up before it fires. You can also adjust how long the motors keep spinning after you let go. The customization is crazy
@@frozenfade oh wow. You can already do that? That is crazy. He really nailed the design of this. No significant difference on the FPS even with revving it up first tho?
Forever thankful for my family deciding to go for SG for the last vacation in July because I got to try one out. Incredible blaster, the stock is so over engineered for a flywheeler, I’d argue the best stock I used on a nerf blaster.
I would buy one of these just based on looks but seeing what features it has in such a compact form factor I know it'd be a powerhouse. If only I could spare the cash to get one. (And don't worry no Twofer jokes this time.)
Can’t wait for the full release of the sbf! I’m hoping Gavin sells a hardware kit and files like he did with the spamf so I can print and build one of these for myself. (heck, it would be especially great if he offered a pre-soldered hardware kit since my soldering skills leave a lot to be desired and I’d be scared of breaking the components or messing something up).
@@ben_nerf_lego the big thing is that you can adjust the power. So on the SBF you can adjust from 100 percent power all the way down to 20 percent. It's great because if you are playing somewhere with fps caps you just turn down the power till you hit the cap. Don't have to use a different blaster
To put it really simply, brushed motors use carbon pads to conduct electricity which makes the motor spin. Brushless motors do away with the pads by using electromagnets. As a consequence, brushless motors require electronics to run. Brushed motors are simpler in design, but suffer friction and wear. Brushless are more efficient and potentially more powerful. They also tend to run quieter. I'm not sure why they're still rare in Nerf because they've become relatively common in other hobbies. In power tools they've even been the standard for several years. I hope that changes soon because the price of brushless blasters is too high right now. I assume low volume is part of the reason for that.
This looks like what coop did for one of his stryfe kit reviews. Also, I have the mediator as I’ve mentioned before and I have a question for you: i’ve been trying to decide between the cyclone shock, the Magness and the mediator as the under mounted solution for my longshot front gun that I will, of course fit on my long shot. I’ve been having a difficult time picking it as I really like the mediator with the stock as a close quarters stock HVZ option at the same time my specific HVZ does not prioritize mega darts and instead uses socks for super zombie tagging and I have the 100 fps Spring specifically for this use because of the full darts they do not allow half length darts because the FPS is slightly above normal full length and would violate the cap of 100 fps. I have also contemplated making all three and using them interchangeably, depending on the event. At the same time I’m also planning on putting LEDs into the blaster itself and the front gun. Based on this criteria is there a specific iteration that you would recommend? My plan has always been to make an homage to the night fury a long shot that drac made and now to one of the blasters that coop772 has done that was also my inspiration for the blaster that I am building for you in the future as all three creators have inspired me in someway.
@@CaptainXavier sorry I meant I have changed my mind based on circumstances I meant no offense I’m completely serious. I’m very sorry. I completely understand your answer.
Wil gavin also look into like alternative model variations? Think like a mp5 style or ump or even like some game guns offcourse keeping really bright colors. Or perhaps replica styles to keep some memories of the hobby alive in a unique way like the style of the ftl or nerf guns wich hasbro have not renewed the design copyright..
Hey captain Xavier can you do a nerf range day with just half dart pistols I know you did one before but recently you got new half dart pistol if you can do the range video that would be awesome
Hey, Cap. I'm trying to find the Stryfle kit video but it seems to have vanished into the aether. Did something happen with it? Edit: Nevermind, I found it. It seems to be buried in the algorithm.
Ok, so I was scrolling through Walmart’s website, and I saw that they were trying to sell a Rapidstrike for $105 USD. THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY, and I hope no one buys one for that price.
Those blasters are no longer made and are probably not being sold by Walmaet directly but rather by a reseller through Walmarts website. Similar to how people resell on Amazon.
