Its funny how people bring up statistics about gay marriages never lasting more than 20 years and shit and I'm just over here wondering Was gay marriage even LEGAL 20 years ago? And if it was how accepting were people of it? How can someone stay in a relationship when people are constantly in their face about who they're with? Its so unfair when people compare the durability of gay and straight marriage when gay marriage hasn't had the same firm ground as straight marriage. Straight marriage has always been accepted so of course there will be less divorces, yet 50% of marriages for straight couples end like that anyways. It would be like gathering data from 1960 to 1980 on how long interracial marriages lasted. The statistics wouldn't be very good compared to white marriages would they? Obviously not. Its like comparing a chef with years of experience and acceptance to a beginning chef. The beginner would receive so much judgement from others that the chef might just quit. Or maybe judges of that begginer chef won't even consider them because of the way they cook because its different than the way they're used to. Of course the beginner chef is gonna cook differently than the experienced one, they're different. But in the end the chefs are just chefs. So why do people think that a study on gay marriages from 1980 to 2000 would have results that are acceptable to straight marriages? Think about it this way In legitimate scientific studies there are variables, controls, and constants that must be regulated. Gay and straight marriage is the independent variable. Divorce rates are the dependant variable. The control is a straight and gay couple that aren't married. The constants are fair treatment of the marriages, acceptance of the marriages in all states, and equal laws of said marriages. But wait. In all the studies you see being spewed out on the internet you see NONE of those constants being conducted. Therefore all of those satistics people show are complete bullshit. So the next time you try waving numbers in my face just remember that I know you're wrong. I'm 15 years old and I have better logic than most of you idiots out there. I'm actually kinda proud that I was able to come up with something like this huehuehue.

I am a Christian and I support same sex marriage. I believe that if there is love two people regardless of gender, race or sexuality, then god looks down and smiles. I am very thankful that I go to such an accepting church, my church is very accepting of gay marriage and gay people in general, (we have an openly gay man in leadership [in other words he's on the church's payroll]) while I cannot speak for the whole congregation I can say most of them seem to be ok with gay marriage. Just the other day, a man got up during celebrations and concerns and announced that he just got engaged to his boyfriend and almost everyone in the congregation applauded. My mother who is the music director at our church (which means she is second up the chain of command, second only to the pastors) is going to hold an engagement party for another homosexual couple that goes to our church. What I am trying to say with this incredibly long post is: to all you gay people out there, you have friends in the faith, God bless.

The phrase gay marriage is an oxymoron in itself. Marriage is the coming together of two individuals to become one flesh under God. In reality, in the strict correct sense of the word , there is no such thing as "gay marriage" because God would never unite two people of the same gender, that would be violating his own principles. There is such a thing as a civil union, or "civil marriage" but that's not the meaning of marriage in the first place. When people say gay marriage it's like someone saying a "wet sun" or a "waterless sea" .

The strictest Biblical interpretation would be "one man, one woman, one time". Jesus said this specifically in the book of Matthew. We have no record of him ever making a statement on this issue. In fact, while being pressed on the subject of marriage, he said some people were born different. So what Biblical example of marriage are we to follow? King David must have been a satyr with his mass of wives, and concubines, yet he was "a man after God's own heart". What these hypocrites are missing is the fact that they are NOT, standing on solid Biblical ground when they say things like that one woman said, otherwise they would be as incensed about divorce and remarriage among heterosexuals, and be launching boycotts, and protests there. They want to come down all "old testament", over a subject that Jesus never addressed, while blithely accepting practices that he did directly condemn. What is the damage being done other than the fact there are two less lonely people in the world? My God, the horror. Jesus never spoke on this issue as far as we know, but he sure had a lot to say about religious hypocrisy. If some of these "Christians", are so convinced that two people of the same sex who love each other are headed to hell, why don't they reach out in love in an attempt to save a misguided soul? Jesus never condemned the labeled "sinners" of his time, he always showed love first. The examples of his anger were directed toward the self righteous religious people of his time. When they brought to him the adulterous woman and asked if she should be stoned for her actions, he shamed those hypocrites. Where was the man in all this, her "partner in crime", if you will. I mean, she didn't commit adultery by herself did she? The fact is that a lot of this moral condemnation down through history has always been a double standard. No, these people are ignoring the loving example of Jesus, and more like the Pharisees of his time, are pushing a hate movement they try to dress up in scripture. One thing certain he DID say was that : "whatsoever measure ye mete withal, shall ye be measured".

Judging by the majority of responses from those against gay marriage I think the question really is whether or not you’re accepting of gays in general. If your accepting of ‘the gays’ then what legitimate reason is there for being against gay marriage? I as a Christian will not ignore this issue. I wish we could voice our opinion more. In high school everyone somehow thought I was a lesbian. I was hated so much and I couldn't make any friends. It hurt that no one would talk to me or even ask me if I was gay because they were afraid to ask. They only assumed. It's persecution. In persecution as a Christian, Gay, or Hetero there should be a since of growth, an understand or new found strength to want to be and do better in life.

Religious people: You hate gay marriage? This is what happens when you entangle church and state, and the government respects religion (which marriage is). The church may discriminate, the government can't. Sometimes the Constitution actually does protect YOU! I see it in the establishment clause of the first amendment. There are a lot of people all around the world who discriminate against gays and a lot of countries that put laws against gays. So here are some reasoning’s. Imagine you are a parent and you find your teenage boy (let's say) holding back tears and he tells you, "There is someone in my class that I would like to ask out but I don't know what will happen if I do. I'm not sure if this person would like me in that way." Well the parent said, "The only way you'll find out is if you just ask. It's no big deal, either she'll say yes or no and if she says no, well there are plenty of fish in the sea." The teenage son said, "Well this person is a.... A boy." The teenage son quickly said while shaking with fear, "Please don't hate me. I can't help it. I can't change it. All I want is to be able to live my life like everyone else. To fall in love, get married, have kids and love them no matter what. I don't want to be afraid all the time and have to keep on hiding it and just faking my way through life. Please don't hate me." Now if the parent would forsake his/her own child what kind of parent would that be? What kind of person would that be to anyone? Making someone feel bad or hurting someone for being gay isn’t any more right than making someone feel bad or hurting someone based on the color of their skin or looks or disabilities. Everyone is born different and everyone has the right to live their life in freedom and peace and love. A man being attracted to another or a woman being attracted to another woman is no different than a man being attracted to a woman. There is nothing wrong with any of that it is natural. The only thing that is bad is when people start discriminating and doing horrible things or saying mean words to other people. If you are what people call strait, imagine being in a world where that is considered immoral. Imagine having to pretend you’re attracted to someone that is a sex you are not attracted too and how uncomfortable and violating it would feel to be pressured into have a relationship with that person and having to pretend you enjoy it. Since being gay does not run in the family like skin color among other things A lot of GLBT people have to live in fear a being rejected by both family and friends as well as everyone else not to mention all the anti gay laws and people who would hurt you for being gay. In Russia the hate and discrimination is getting so bad that it is becoming a lawless witch hunt. If someone thinks you’re gay or believe someone that says you are even if it is a child being harshly bullied by a bigger child and an adult comes, that adult is allowed to hurt that child as well all the while the child screams and cries and begs for it to stop. All that abuse and even to much lesser extents can really crush a person’s feeling and spirit.

I feel like being gay isn't a choice, I'm bi and I always have had crushes on boys and girls. Can someone please explain why the magic number for marriage has to be two? Is it not possible for two women to love one man and vice versa? Or two men love a third? Also, don't you opponents of it think it is silly to deny someone civil rights? Let's look at this for example: A same-sex couple who have been together for 50 years couldn't get married in a state where it's illegal, but let's say a teenage straight couple who are both 18 and have known each other for about 6-7 months want to get married. They would be able to, when in reality they don't even know each other and will most likely get divorced in 2-3 years. Some of these same sex couples have been in long-term monogamous relationships decades before some opponents of same-sex marriage were even born. It just looks real silly and tacky, and if I were one of the elderly same-sex couples, I would be extremely upset that some knuckleheads would be trying to put restrictions on my life. Church performs religious ceremony of marriage, however this ceremony of marriage is not 'legal', until the authorized pastor signs a 'civil document' making the wedding legal. American citizens elect State rep's to Congress, these rep's at the directives of their people make laws (of the people). The US Supreme Court do NOT 'make laws', they interpret the 'intent and purpose' of (the peoples) law. In this instance the Supreme Court made a 'new law', which the US Constitution does NOT give them authority. Each Supreme Court Justice that voted for this (new) law, needs to be impeached and removed from Office.

Why is the gay rights movement so aggressively pushing for gay marriage/same-sex marriage when most people, religious and non-religious, are supportive of-or at least far less opposed to-gay couples having all the same legal rights as married couples with some form of civil union? The answer, according to the Bible, is that everyone inherently knows that homosexuality is immoral and unnatural, and the only way to suppress this inherent knowledge is by normalizing homosexuality and attacking any and all opposition to it. The best way to normalize homosexuality is by placing gay marriage/same-sex marriage on an equal plane with traditional opposite-gender marriage. Romans 1:18-32 illustrates this. The truth is known because God has made it plain. The truth is rejected and replaced with a lie. The lie is then promoted and the truth suppressed and attacked. The vehemence and anger expressed by many in the gay rights movement to any who oppose them is, in fact, an indication that they know their position is indefensible. Some say the "best solution", for the debate on Marriage is, Man & Woman united legally = Marriage (definition marriage) Woman & woman or Man & Man united legally = civil unity (definition civil unity).
